About Program

Join Roots Interns and get your dream internship abroad in the phenomenal African country that pioneered the walking safari - amazing Zambia! Be part of non-profit internships that will give you experiential learning and impactful working experience. Roots Interns partnered with energetic organizations committed to sustainable and ethical initiatives. The Intern will assist in creating and implementing many development and conservation strategies to help communities and their economies. Choose the perfect internship in Zambia program that best fits your interests and skills from the various focus areas - Sustainable Development, Nonprofit Management, Women’s Empowerment, Fundraising, Animal Welfare, and Environmental projects.

Internships in Zambia are hosted in the incredible place of Livingstone, Zambia. Accommodations and meals are provided as well as a friendly working environment, and the chance to explore the wonders of Livingstone and its culture.

Having started off as the offshoot of an urban greening project, Roots Interns has always been aware of our environmental impact. That's why we work with projects and accommodations that are also actively aware of their impact and striving to make a positive difference. By consciously choosing partners that have sustainable practices in place, we can work towards balancing out any impacts on the environment with equally positive actions.

Roots Interns was built around a need for qualified interns in the sustainable development sector. Whether supporting environmental or wildlife conservation or social development, our internships leave a tangible positive footprint on people’s lives and their environment. Working at a grassroots level ensures that the needs of host communities are always at the forefront, no matter the specific cause. Many of our partners support the UN Sustainable Development Goals, further aligning our internships with creating sustainable change.
