I started to learn Chinese with That's Mandarin for already 2 months and I feel so much more confortable to speak out, and enjoy the life in Shanghai.
Before each class I received an email reminder, it is really usefull. Then when I arrived the reception team always warmly welcome me. My working shift change every week but they do their best to assign me the same teacher each week. My teacher is so good, I feel so happy to go to class each week, and enjoy the learning process. At the end of the class I can access to the Nihaocafe account and review at home my new lesson, and to be ready to the next one.

I have tried everything， and certainly enjoyed the engagement of the lessons, in particular with Lu laoshi and all the That'sMandarin team. The platform is very friendly, with videos, character translation and storytelling which allows you to progress smoothly. The ability to go back to each lesson and review the notes， videos and characters is very helpful。 I advanced more in the last month than in my first year

I wanted to take an opportunity to gush about my experience this year at That's Mandarin Chinese Language School. That’s Mandarin has done wonders for me and my ability in the Chinese language — not only in terms of my raw ability, but for my confidence and willingness to speak the language and use it in my everyday life. The customizable curriculum has helped me and my tutor to hone in on areas that will benefit me most, and has allowed me to delve into vocabulary that suits my interests and career. The staff are helpful and friendly, and the teachers know just how to spark my interest and motivation. Not to mention, the school’s excellent central location in Beijing! Both the F2F in the Beijing office as well the online courses have helped me to reach an HSK4/5 level in this time. The combination of reading, watching videos and listening classes allow you to pick up various elements of the language really quick. For those that want to learn quickly I recommend to take 121 classes in a very dense period in the beginning (i.e. 10-20 hrs per weekend) and later on reduce to a few hours per week. My name is Amy and I’m a second year university student. I’m studying Politics and International Relations and I’ve always had an eye on coming to China to work in a governmental role. One of my tutors advised me that to cut through the competition in this sector I would definitely need a good level of Chinese, so 18 months ago I started taking online classes.

Within a few months I felt I had enough day to day vocabulary to make a ‘test’ trip to China, and I surprised myself – I could happily survive and make everyday conversation.

Since then I have been working with my teacher to tailor my classes, reflecting the topics I study at university. The hotter the competition comes for expat jobs in China becomes the harder it will be to find a good one, and I’m determined to stay ahead of the curve.

Although I have a long way to go until I attain perfect fluency, I can happily chatter on to my teacher so that our three weekly classes fly by. My goal for this year is to take a second, extended trip to China to start to scope out employment opportunities, showing off my Chinese abilities at the same time.
