Why choose Learn International?

Not all classrooms have walls!

Learn International is an Irish-owned and operated study abroad provider located just outside of Dublin, Ireland. We offer internships (virtual and in-country), summer school courses, semester programmes, global research placements, service learning programmes and customised faculty-led programmes. Our current programmes operate in Europe.

Our dedicated team uses a hands-on approach with each applicant to ensure their academic, career and personal goals are achieved. We work directly with students to making their vision a reality and do our best to work within every applicant's budget. We provide a safe and dynamic learning environment with access to student support 24/7 with our local team.

Ireland Internship with Learn International

My internship with Learn International has truly been the most memorable and wonderful opportunity of my entire life. Through first-hand experience I have seen and learned so much about my dream career. I've met and worked for/with brilliant people who share the same passions as me. My placements were a perfect fit for me — both the internship placement and my homestay placement seemed perfectly tailored to me and what I wanted to get out of this experience. The staff at Learn International are exceptional — they took the time to get to know me and my ideal internship experience and they matched me with a perfect placement. I could not have asked for a better experience — the people I met, experiences I had, and the things I learned will be memories I will never forget.

Virtual Intern

I was seeking an Internship abroad, to enhance my CV and discover a new country, but then due to the pandemic, I decided to opt for a Virtual Internship. I worked from home in Italy, but with Learn International was like being in Ireland, thanks to all the cultural tips received! I really enjoyed this experience, it was also challenging and professional. I had the opportunity to work in a friendly and flexible context, and I feel to have learned a lot. I can't wait to go to Ireland in person to meet the LI Team!

International Education Internship

I absolutely loved my internship experience with Learn International. I developed a number of skills related to my career aspirations, as well as general (transferrable) skills. The team at Learn is wonderful, I always felt comfortable and as though my opinion was valued, which is incredibly important. Despite the internship being virtual, I learned so much about Ireland and Irish culture in the most authentic way possible given the circumstances. Thank you for everything! I highly recommend an internship with Learn International.

Semesters in Ireland with Learn International

Semester at IT Carlow

I spent the fall semester in Carlow, studying at IT Carlow in their Brewing and Distilling Program. My major back at home is chemical engineering with a minor in brewery engineering, so this was a great opportunity for me to take a deeper academic dive into the specifics of the brewing industry, which is where I hope to work once I graduate. It was also a great opportunity for me to travel and explore a new country and learn about a different culture. The folks at Learn International took great care of me, both before I traveled, and while I was in Ireland. They worked with me to find the best housing option, which for me ended up being a shared home with roommates, close to the college. (A homestay was also offered as an option.) While I was in Ireland, they were always just a text or phone call away if I had any questions or concerns, and offered great travel advice when I decided to adventure outside of Carlow. Even though I was a full-time student while I was there, I had time for several weekend trips to explore more of Ireland and even made it over to Scotland for a few days.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
As part of my program at IT Carlow, we had the chance to get a tour of the new Tullamore Dew distilling facility. This was a great learning opportunity, to be able to see behind the scenes of a large distilling operation, learn about their process and equipment, talk directly with the employees and ask questions.

Fantastic Internship

I really enjoyed my internship with Learn International. They were a really nice team to work for and my manager was so helpful and supportive and always available on G chat for any questions. I would really recommend an internship with LI as I feel that I have gained some great experience of both marketing and of working in an office. Getting the chance to work virtually was also really great as it meant that I could work from home while I couldn't travel and now I have those skills for the future. 10/10 work experience!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Make sure to make the most of your time as an intern by just getting stuck in straight away. The internship goes so fast and you'll run out of time before you know so try and do the things you want to do as early as possible so that you can experience everything.

Why did you choose this program?

The program was available through my major and seemed very interesting! At first I was simply looking into it, but then all the details fell into place.

What did your program provider assist you with, and what did you have to organize on your own?

I was assisted with everything from how to get my passport, to which flights to purchase, and even had an informational session for study abroad through my university.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

Pack light! You'll have the chance to do laundry. You think you'll be sick of wearing the same stuff, but you're too busy seeing new things to care. Carry on and backpack, that's it!

What does an average day/week look like as a participant of this program?

You'll stay hostel-style with roommates and breakfasts, travel coach (and other forms too), and be accompanied by a learn representative. There's a perfect balance of course work, scheduled events, and free time.

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it and/or how did your views on the issue change?

I was mostly afraid of having to maneuver public transportation alone. However, I almost always had somebody to rely on, and the transportation becomes easier every time you use it.

I had one fiasco of missing my train, and while it was nerve wracking in the moment, it became one of the best stories to tell when I came home. I've done it, now I'm not afraid.

Is there any other advice you'd like to share with prospective travelers?

My best advice for prospective travelers is to not take things so seriously. When you lighten up, you'll find things to enjoy no matter where you are.

Super small hostel? Get closer to your roommates. Get seasick? Take some ginger and let the wind blow on your face. Don't let yourself have a bad memory - make the best of every situation! Travel is all about getting out of your comfort zone.

Tell us about yourself, Rossella.

Prior to my appointment with LI, in September 2014, I took up a position as Student Services and Internships Co-odinator in London for ISA. Before that I was working as Resident Mentor and Student Coordinator for International Students at the University of Exeter (INTO), UK.

I am a graduate in Political Science and have worked as Visiting Scholar at the University of Cardiff and Exeter (UK). I was awarded a MA in European Politics from University of Bari (Italy) in 2006 and a MA in Communication and Ethics from the University ‘La Sapienza’ Rome ( Italy) .

I have studied and worked in Italy, England, Wales, and now the ​Republic of Ireland.

What is your favorite travel memory?

My first glimpse of the Eiffel Tower up close. The picture of the Eiffel Tower does an injustice to the actual tower! My friend and I rounded a corner and, suddenly, there it was, more impressive ​than I ever imagined.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

By ​taking ​part in projects that cut across lines of business, hierarchical levels and functional specialties further developed my skills since working with Learn International.

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

A return​ing​ student said that on a nameless road in Wales, his rented bike broke down. Miserable and cold, he wanted to walk away.

Someone dismantled the backseat of their car to load him and the bike, and then drove him to the nearest mechanic — an hour away. He was greeted on arrival with a cup of tea and people were smiling and saying hello while he waited. Their cheerfulness and courtesy fixed more than his bike he said!

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

Speaking from experience, I would definitely apply for an internship with Learn International.​ After graduation, my first employers acknowledged that I had a great education but were more attracted to my practical experience from the various internships I pursued.​​​

Students who have done an internship abroad will have the upper hand when entering the professional world because of their hands-on experience.

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

Almost every student wishes their study abroad experience to be a "​golden opportunity​"​. We focus on superior customer service​ working with each student to create the best academic and experiential program for them.​​

From an initial application through final delivery of each study abroad offering, we make sure that all of our students are treated as if they were the only ones we have. Learn International provides excellent student services and internship placements, that’s why I am very proud to work here.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

Success only comes from hard work and passion. Behind every successful result lies years of hard work. And with passion, our students are more likely to believe in what we are trying to do!
