Internship Experience

I recently completed an internship with Surreel Films in New York. ArtBound Initiative really does help you find the companies that are within your field and can teach you so much about the professional world. Going into this internship was my first time being in a professional setting, and I had a great experience. My mentors were some of the most educational but also relaxed people I had ever worked with before and taught me so much about the industry. I truly do suggest ArtBound is a great way to get an internship in your desired field and your desired city, and you will meet so many people as well.

Great experience

Artbound is a super helpful company that I would recommend because they were able to find me a great internship! The process was really smooth and the internship ended up being amazing, especially getting to know everyone there! The experience with them included online training and help from industry experts. I would say that having a resume expert give me feedback on my resume was extremely helpful, as well as getting advice about my portfolio from an actual creative director! It's definitely worthwhile and I would recommend the program if you are struggling to find real life experience in the creative industry.

Internship to one of the biggest production companies!

This program has truly transformed my life. I was searching for a meaningful opportunity to grow, to explore my potential as a filmmaker, and to take a bold step forward in my career. This was the perfect fit. It provided not only technical knowledge and creative skills, but also a strong support system and a sense of direction. I’m incredibly grateful for the experiences, the mentors, and the connections I’ve made. Applying was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made, and it has opened doors I never imagined possible.

ABI Review

I liked how much support the ABI team gave me throughout this experience. The online community as well as my supervisors always felt like a reliable source I could go to when I had questions about my internship. The actual placement itself, the part that I was most worried about, went smoothly through their support.

The course that they provide gave me a lot of insight as to what it would be like to work in the industry. Although some of the things in the course seem like common sense, for example: knowing what kind of supervisor you may get, work culture etc; it did help me to think more about what things may actually be like.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
It's important to adapt depending on the work environment that you are placed in. For my work experience, I found that my supervisor gave me a very hands-off approach, where I had to find my own way to be useful as a part of their team. How I was able to overcome this was I tried my best to find my own spot on the workplace that worked harmoniously with everyone.
Pros
  • Cuts out the faffing about of having to find an internship.
  • You have a group of creatives that you can talk to with questions or concerns.
Cons
  • Expensive.

I got an amazing internship

Artbound Initiative provided an excellent pathway for securing my internship, offering valuable support throughout the process. They helped match me with a role that aligned with my interests, ensuring I gained hands-on experience in script coverage, film production, and industry research. Their guidance in networking and professional development was helpful, making it easier to connect with industry professionals and build confidence in reaching out to managers and assistants.

Beyond securing the internship, Artbound was also supportive in practical matters, such as helping me transition smoothly when I needed to change apartments. The first housing they arranged was far from great but they made sure I got my money back. Their responsiveness and willingness to assist made a significant difference in my overall experience. Thanks to this program, I gained both professional skills and industry connections that will benefit me in my career. I highly recommend Artbound Initiative to anyone looking for structured, well-supported industry experience in entertainment and media.

ABI experience in Berlin

Hello!! I am Giovanni. After earning a bachelor degree in Engineering of Cinema and Media Communication at the Politecnico of Turin, I decided to have an abroad experience. I wanted to start an internship in the entertainment field and thanks to the ArtBound Initiative I had the possibility to do it in Berlin. So, in the Fall of 2024, I worked for a company called Film Base Berlin. It was one of the most incredible experiences in my life for different reasons. Thanks to the internship, I had the opportunity to work on a big movie set for the first time and it was really like a dream. After the ending of the shooting of the movie, I worked in the office of the company for the rest of my Internship. I had various tasks. My boss was starting the pre-production of a series. This part of the internship was really interesting because I learned how producers manage budgets for movies and series and how a project like this becomes reality starting from the concept.
As I said before, all this happened in Berlin and the only thing that I can say about this city is that it has helped me to enjoy what I was doing even more. The people I met, strangers at the beginning and friends now, created a perfect environment to live in the city in the best way possible. I’m going to leave Berlin with a lot of memories and with the awareness of being changed.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I wouldn't change anything of this experience. I think I have lived those three months in Berlin in the best way possible. I met people, that are now great friends, I worked hard on my goals and I came back with a lot of beautiful memories.
Pros
  • Meeting new people
  • working in an environment that it is your passion (For me the entertainment field)
  • The possiblity to build a network and start a career in the future
Cons
  • It can be hard sometimes being alone in a new country

The most memorable experience in my life

The prior courses are really useful, even after I have finished the internship, I will benefit from it my whole life. I have been working with one of the most wonderful art centres in NYC, the supervisor was amazing and provided me with a lot of opportunities, I have also tried a lot of new things I've never done before here. It's one of the luckiest things to get a job here. NYC is also a fantastic place to spend your time, learn more, and meet more like-minded people, there are a lot of wonderful events there for you to meet.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Enjoy the journey, be more active and do not hesitate.
Pros
  • Wonderful events almost every night
  • Creative atmosphere
Cons
  • The city is really expensive to live in lol

ABI Program & Internship Review

The Artbound Initiative Program has been an invaluable asset in my development as a designer. I first learned about it while studying at university in 2023. Initially skeptical, I was encouraged to join by my peers who had taken the course and by my lecturers, all of whom highly recommended it.

The program's support was greatly helpful. The team provided me lots of information and resources that were instrumental in kickstarting my career, particularly in the early stages of reaching out to companies, promoting my work, and networking. I connected with creative professionals who offered insightful feedback and guidance, which was crucial in my journey.

There were some challenges, such as attracting the attention of well-known studios and agencies in Sydney and Melbourne, and finding suitable accommodation, for which ABI offered minimal assistance. However, I was able to resolve these issues on my own.

Overall, I am grateful for the Artbound Initiative. Without their support, I wouldn't have been able to leverage the skills I gained during my studies or navigate the process of reaching out to design studios and marketing agencies.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
When deciding on a place to find a creative internship, consider your future planning. If you decide to find employment in the location your internship is taking place, spend some time reaching out to small-time companies or agencies that could use your skills. You might need to also save up if you're gonna stay longer in that location.
Pros
  • You get to create a more professional and well-built resume
  • Having the chance to explore and learn in a different culture and environment
  • Making a start in your career
Cons
  • Will take longer for companies to hire you as an intern (based on skills and portfolio)
  • Low chance of getting a paid-internship
  • Will take time adjusting in a new area and culture for a while

Through this internship, I was able to get a better understanding of the industry and learned how to work through different situations and problems that came my way. This internship helped me realize what my future goals are. I am so glad I landed the job after my internship since I had the best time!

  • Became better at learning things on my own
  • Realized my full potential which eventually helped me get a job at my internship!

An engaging immersive experience into Australia's media landscape

As a multimedia creative, or a jack-of-all-trades, I was always fearful of boxing myself in when it came to pursuing a specific creative role. I didn't want to lose out on refining my skills in one area while devoting all my energy into another. Getting placed into both a design and editorial role for this internship was really great for improving myself holistically and scoping out an industry I felt I could later work in. The work culture and team dynamics were fun and charming, while providing support, direction and guidance where I needed it. I feel that I greatly benefited from this experience and am eager to see what comes of it.
