One of the best investments towards my future

ABI’s program has made establishing a career in a foreign country extremely easy. They had me lined up for various interviews and managed to get me a placement within a few days of the application process. After interning for 6 months, I’m now employed full time at the studio I was placed in. Career advancement is only a small part of what they offer us, I was regularly contacted to meet with directors and producers 1on1 as well as go to studio and gallery visits. Their program is designed to cover more than just the basics, offering us a large network, regularly checking in on us, and being there to help with any issues, be it professional, or personal. It truly is a full package and I highly recommend it to anyone looking to kickstart a career in a new place.

Learn a lot!

My work in groups in The Studio has helped me develop organizational skills to help bring projects along and keep to a tight deadline. For instance, we had two Halloween projects two months ago, Andrew, my colleague and I were doing modeling work. He was professional but I never did this amount of works in a short time before. So, he told me how to organize the assets and unfold UVs in his way. He also taught me the time arrangement in different types of projects. All those experiences have produced a profound and lasting impact on my development and future studying.

A Great First-Time Experience

Before this experience, I had no idea how I would get the experience I needed to move forward in my desired field without having the right connections. ArtBound Initiative gave me the foot in the door that I needed, placing me in an international internship experience with the Hong Kong Contemporary Art Foundation. Thanks to the internship on my resume, I was accepted to multiple graduate programs in London, UK. I am currently studying to receive my MFA in Curating at Goldsmiths, University of London. This program changes your life.

What would you improve about this program?
In looking back, the only things I found a slight bit disappointing was that because my fellow ABI member, Hugh, and I were the first from ABI to go to Hong Kong, there were little resources and events available to us in the city. We were on our own for most of our time there. Additionally, while I enjoyed my internship at HOCA, I think now I would have preferred a position within a gallery or art institution. What I was doing with that internship wasn't really what I needed to be learning. However, I still learned SO much from my time there and I would gladly do it all over again.

AbI Internship Experience

I spent a couple months in Hong Kong for an internship within the creative industry in 2017. It was a very rewarding experience as I was able to grow not only professionally but also further develop my creative skills. The work environment was amazing, I learned interesting day to day operations about the advertising world and how I best fit in that world. This fitting experience wouldn't of been possible without the help of ABI. They aided me with placement of the internship , housing accommodations, and the travel experience to Asia. Through their support I had a great experience and am looking forward to go back and reconnect with all the friends I made and networks I have built.

Wonderful Opportunity

I recently finished my 3-month graphic design internship with an excellent advertising agency in busy Hong Kong, and the ArtBound Initiative team has been great accommodating me before, during, and after my program. They provide access, where there is usually little or none at all, to creative opportunities, growing experiences, and global networks. With the support on all sides, it's a good chance to build a solid foundation for yourself.

It was a hard process, but it was also a rewarding step in the creative industry, and the ArtBound Initiative team stuck by me for the journey. No matter where you are personally and professionally, I would recommend considering their internship programs.

Perfect for Professional Development

ABI is the agency to go to if you decide to go into the arts field - local or abroad. Their support prior to your departure will help you throughout your career, not just the internship. The activities they provide to get in touch with the community there are rewarding too. My experience at Klemm's and DECAD are both valuable. I have the chance to work on solid gallery tasks like creating social media content to proposing art happenings for exhibitions. Good luck!

Contemporary Art Magazine in Berlin

The Artbound team helped me tailor my resume and feel more confident about going out into the work force. It also helped give me contacts and experience in the contemporary art world. The Artbound team helped me feel comfortable when I was in Berlin by setting up my housing and providing information about metro tickets, health insurance, etc. The team set up a couple of events where I got to meet with curators and artists based in Berlin. I also had a lot of free time to either travel or go to events in Berlin on the weekends.

I worked with a company called Bpigs. The people I worked with were really friendly and welcoming. I was able to learn a lot about the administrative side of the contemporary art world as well as the ins and outs of publishing an online magazine. Overall, the Artbound Initiative program provided an exciting and fun learning experience for me this summer, and I would highly recommend it to anyone interested in going into a creative field.

What would you improve about this program?
More people can join it! I would have loved to have more people from the program to hang out with in abroad.

New York Internship

I've done my internship with Jean Doumanian Productions, which is a production company that produces theaters, movies, and TV series. My internship title was called Script/Coverage Development, and my main responsibilities were to review incoming material (pilots, screenplays, books, etc.) and provide feedback about their commercial potential.

ABI helped me secure the internship I wanted and was very supportive regarding the visa process. This abroad experience is a huge opportunity that'll boost my career and help me get my dream job.

Intern @ Reflexgroup NY - Digital Strategist

I did an internship at Reflex Group New York and ended up getting hired! It is an international creative agency founded in Paris in 1988. This boutique agency specializes in working for luxury brands. ArtBound Initiative assisted me all the way with getting this internship. The ABI team provided me with a selection of companies that fitted my expectations, helped me in the application process, assisted me during my VISA application process, and also helped me find an accommodation here in New York. They made the whole process easy, and most of all, they made it happen! I am very thankful for their constant and dedicated assistance.

Loved it

ABI connected me with the perfect internship for me to get started in my career. Working at Con Artist Collective was a great way to be welcomed in the city. I am expanding my network, meeting exceptional artists and people through there. Events hosted by ABI also helped me meet people from around the world ! My favorite excursion so far was going to Dia Beacon on a nice late summer afternoon. Months later, I have still kept in contact with people I have met through the internship and have been immersing myself in the city. Definitely a turning point in my life so far.
