Fantastic PR Internship!!

I just spent the summer interning through the Absolute Internship program in London. Fantastic experience! Did a PR Internship with a company that had clients mostly in the fashion industry, and as a girl that was perfect for me.

I'd really recommend the program for anybody who is looking into going to London. Absolute Internship really cares about their students and I found them very organized, structured, friendly and simply just lovely!

Thank you Carla and Team Absolute in London for a fantastic summer!

Intern in London

Everyday, something was organised but there was no obligation to attend or not. The activities were great and I specifically appreciated the support staff that stays at the accommodation as they were so helpful. It is a daunting experience to go do an internship, as well as move to another country so the fact that you have someone there always and other interns is amazing. There were a variety of activities that allowed us to see London and all the tourist attractions it has to offer. On the 3rd weekend we took a trip to Paris which was amazing. And of coarse, the internship itself has provided me with valuable experience. The business I interned with were phenomenal and they gave me a lot of responsibility. It was a small company which meant more personal attention and more opportunities. I got to sit in on client meeting and work on some big projects.

What would you improve about this program?
The accommodation was very disappointing. The website suggested that it was in Zone 1, had a fitness centre and looked completely different. It was fine but it was not what they made it out to be. Also, the internship I did had nothing to do with accounting which is what I applied to do. However, I really enjoyed my internship.
Response from Absolute Internship

Hello xxx,

Thank you so much for leaving a review here on Go-Overseas!

We always love when students are leaving us constructive feedback, whether that's positive or if there are any areas of the program that we can improve.

We're happy to read that you appreciated our wonderful staff members and that you found the activities we organized amazing. Thank you very much for sharing that!

We apologize that you felt the accommodation was disappointing. We have taken your feedback into serious consideration and have taken immediate action to replace the accommodation you stayed at, with a much more suitable accommodation in Zone 1. We're always striving to improve our program so your feedback has been extremely helpful.

Thank you once again for a wonderful summer and your feedback!
Your feedback will help make future students' experiences even more amazing.

Thank you.

With our best regards,

Great Summer!

I interned in London through Absolute Internship last summer and had a great time! I interned with a wealth management company and learned so much from my boss. She used to work for UBS and decided to start her own company after working with for a couple of years. It was very inspirational working in London over the summer.

I majored in finance and economics and wanted to do something that was related to my major. Absolute made the application process extremely smooth from the day I applied and I interviewed with my host company a few months before heading to Europe. I got a great first impression of my boss during the interview and was happy that she wanted to host me.

If you're looking into meeting a lot of students from all around the world with a safe, fun, well-organized and caring program - then Absolute Internship is a great choice. The program events were amazing. The staff (who took us to France, Brighton, London Eye and a few other places. We had events organized almost every weekend which was nice.
During one of the free weekends, I decided to spend a weekend in Brussels with a friend from the program which was really cool. Everything in Europe is so well-connected so travels between cities is very easy and quite affordable.

The housing was great too. I met so many people through the program and would recommend it in a heartbeat. Overall, I had a blast with Absolute Internship and would highly recommend it.

1 month in Shanghai

I was fortunate to be placed in a company that had a lot of work available. I was exposed to different projects within the spheres I'm interested into -corporate finance, advisory and management consultancy. I had the chance to work independently but also had one - to - one interaction with the two managing partners on a regular basis. Because of this high level of responsibility and the variety of the job, employers look up to my experience in Shanghai.
The staff from Absolute Internship have been extremely supportive throughout the whole duration of the work experience - from finding a suitable employer and making it possible that I am in contact with them prior to my arrival, through sorting out the necessary documentation and me settling in to facilitating different entertainment and educational events that enhanced the experience of the programme.

A worthwhile experience

I did a finance internship through absolute internship at a financial services firm in shanghai for 1 month from december to january. I learnt to research mutual funds, allocate funds to client portfolios, and market our services by contacting prospective clients, and it was a very enriching experience for me. Majority of the interns were doing finance in shanghai, and there were also accounting interns and marketing interns. It was a positive experience for me getting to work in a vibrant city where after work, places are still open for you to shop or hang out and have dinner with the other interns, and I am really glad I got to meet these new friends. The absolute people keep it fun by organising weekly activities for us which was awesome, and they organised a few talks for us with leaders in the industry, which was quite an eye opener. In terms of getting a job later on, if you have never done an internship, this definitely does help. I think it has definitely helped me get my resume noticed and all you need now is decent grades and maybe some volunteer work and you will be getting through the hoops companies make us jump through these days. I have got vac offers from 2 of the big 4 and I would like to thank absolute for playing a part in helping me secure these roles!

What would you improve about this program?
It would be nice to have the visa documents settled earlier!

Exceptional Experience!

During Sumner 2013, I completed a two month internship with a start-up consulting company in Shanghai. I always wanted to improve my soft skills and my commercial awareness, and doing an internship in shanghai- the financial capital of Asia- helped me immensely to understand the contemporary business environment from the Eastern perspective. whilst working, I supported the management in the corporate consultancy side of the business: i developed the company;s business model through operations assessment, calculating revenue and cost forecasts. Additionally, i was involved in the creation of the presentation to potential clients. I really enjoyed my time, as I always got challenging tasks which improved my analytical skills and also helped me to push myself to achieve things which I many not have thought myself capable of.

Furthermore, working in Shanghai helped me to learn about the Chinese culture; "Guanxi"- building relationships- plays a critical role if a business wants to succeed in China. Also, I got to understand the lifestyle in china, which helped me to analyse life from the different angle. This enhanced my flexibility and adaptability- one of the most important skills required in today's competitive job market.

In terms of city, Shanghai is very diverse: it has wide variety if things to offer- from very posh restaurants and leisure with western influence to places with local flavor. No matter what you are looking for, you will always find a place to fit in and enjoy.

Absolute Internship made the experience unforgettable. The staff were very cooperative and friendly, which made the whole internship experience comfortable and fun. I would highly recommend this opportunity for someone who wants to build their skills, and at the same time have the best time of their life in one of the most exciting cities to work and party.

The summer of my life!!

I did a 3-month internship in journalism with Absolute in Shanghai last summer, and it was absolutely amazing!

The company I worked for and internship itself were unreal - my daily job often involved reviewing bars and cafes, or assisting at photo shoots. It was truly the perfect way to discover the city! Besides that, it was just incredibly interesting to work within such a different culture and in such a fast-paced city - I have learned so much.

The Absolute staff were amazing and knew a lot about the city. Even though I have traveled quite a lot, coming to China was just something different and I'm sure I would have felt completely lost without the staff.

The city itself is just something else, amazing nightlife, shopping, food and entertainment.

I'm still thinking of coming back, I think it's the best decision I've made all year.

What would you improve about this program?
Just saying, most interns are students doing their Bachelors.

EXCELLENT!!!!!!

Last summer I completed a two month internship in Shanghai. I always wanted to visit China and I was told that Shanghai was the fastest growing city. Absolute Internship were fantastic in everyway, they help me with getting a job, settling in, making friends and experiencing the Chinese culture in everyway.

I would recommend Shanghai to anyone considering doing an internship abroad as it gives you experiences not only in the work aspect but in life.

Due to my amazing time I am returning to Shanghai to live.

Just Awesome

I just completed an amazing one month finance internship in Shanghai. The entire program was amazing. The firm I worked with was unreal and I learnt so much from the short time I spent there. The staff from Absolute were so helpful and available for any questions we had. The social side of things in Shanghai was awesome as well. There are loads of cool restaurants and bars throughout the whole city, and the other interns and myself had just an awesome time. We even got to experience a few other cities during our stay in China including Wuxi and Beijing, which were both really great trips, with most of the other interns. All in all, just an absolutely amazing experience.

What would you improve about this program?
Only disappointment for my entire trip was the fact that I couldn't start work for the first week of my program, due to Chinese New Year. In the end it wasn't a big deal and I was still assigned some work.

Time of my life

I was so worried about the unknown of china before I arrived as I have never been away from home without friends or family. But instantly Absoulte made me feel at ease. I loved every single second. I met some amazing people, experienced a fantastic culture it was everything I could imagine and so much more. Absoulte worked so hard to make it a fantastic experience and they succeeded. Nightlife was incredible, accommodation was well located and working in the city of Shanghai was indescribable. I can't rate them enough ! I know other students who interned with other companies and unfortunately their experience was not comparable to mine. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity so if you want it to be unforgettable Absoulte will certainly deliver.

What would you improve about this program?
The group got very large during the end of my internship so it was hard to bond with everyone. I personally prefer smaller groups as we was like a family but everyone has different preferences
