One of the greatest things that has ever happened to me!!!

This trip was great, one of the best decisions of my life. The sailing was great, the scuba diving was great, the food was good, the islands were amazing, the animal life was incredible. You will do so much on this trip, accomplish so much, it is definitely a good program to help you step out of your comfort zone, meet new friends and build a great family. You will share so many once in a lifetime opportunities with these people, there is nothing else like it. This trip will stay with me for ages, and i really recommend this to you. This was my first traveling experience and let me tell you, you will not regret it!! I would go back in time and do it all over a million times.

What would you improve about this program?
I just wish there was more time for diving, more time to experience the islands, more time to sail. We had so much time and we used that time productively but it is never enough, you will always want more, that's how great this trip is.

A Spectacular Summer Adventure

The Caribbean Underwater Discovery Voyage was the perfect way to spend my summer. I got open water scuba certified, international crew yachting certified and had an abundant amount of fun all in the span of 3 weeks. Sleeping and living on a yacht was one of my favorite experiences. It was a fantastic way to learn about sailing first hand. Also, nothing beats sleeping on the deck, under the stars with a fresh sea breeze. Living on the water was also the perfect place to learn how to scuba dive. It was incredible learning to dive while being surrounded by magnificent coral reefs and stunning marine life. In addition to learning about the ocean I also got to experience and learn about the local Island life. Each Island was unique and held it's own adventure. Along with all I learned,I gained sincere friendships through the incredible experiences we shared. I would recommend this trip to anyone interested in sailing, scuba diving and having a spectacular summer adventure!

What would you improve about this program?
Healthier snacks and food. Such as dried fruit and less carbs.

Best Summer Ever!

The experiences I had while on my Broadreach program with amazing. I made amazing friends while being able to dive with the coolest fish I have ever seen. One of my favorite memories was when we dove at Saba and saw a Reef Shark and turtles in the same dive! Although this trip mainly focusing around diving, we got to do so many other fun activities while traveling. We went to beaches, played water sports, and played countless games. I honestly couldn't have spent my summer anywhere better than in the Caribbean with Broadreach.

Best experience of my life

This trip was the absolute best thing I have ever done in my entire life. I was terrified to go because I had never been out of the country before and I was doing it alone but the second my plane landed I was immediately greeted by the entire group with smiles and lots of hugs. The instructors were so awesome at helping me get to know everyone and making me feel right at home thousands of miles from home. The program was awesome and learning to scuba dive in the Bahamas is something I will never forget.

3 Weeks of Revelation

Going into this program I had very little idea of what it actually was. I had seen some general info but nothing specific. However when I arrived I quickly was brought into the family that was our group and within this family was able to explore and do things I didn't even know existed. From a 2 day open water kayak trip to a sandbar to 3 weeks of intensive French lesson I gained a lot from this trip. It is structured so that in the morning you have lessons and in the afternoon you have activities which can be anything from jewelry making to dancing. On the weekends you have activities such as surfing, the before mentioned kayak trip and the trip concludes with 4 days on a catamaran on the open seas. What made this program so amazing for me was how it blended fun with education so well. While canyoneering through waterfalls I would be speaking French with my instructors or before heading to the beach I would learn about tenses that i didn't even know existed.

In hindsight one of the memories that sticks out most to me was a seemingly pointless night in the middle of the trip. Then all of a sudden my instructor started up a conversation with me about my life. What started with an innocent comment turned into a deep philosophical conversation about life and of course this was all in French.

Being able to learn a language while having fun is invaluable. it makes the process much easier and I certainly feel like I gained not only experiences but also a lot of French.

Life if Perspective

At the age of fourteen, a summer trip has completely changed the way I see the world. Being on a trip with possibly ten other teenagers made me learn valuable lessons that couldn't be taught anywhere else. Waking up every day to the beautiful Caribbean Sea and seeing all the amazing sea life opens our eyes to how beautiful the world really is. The dives were amazing. Every time we would go down, so many animals and corals were there to be discovered. The towns are so colorful and the townspeople are really friendly. This trip still makes me think of all the things we learned from how to equalize your ears to cooking dinner for fifteen people. I would go back for the whole summer if I had a choice. Broadreach is the way to go if you are looking for a once in a lifetime experience.

The Summer of a Lifetime

I will never forget my incredible summer in Fiji. Firstly, the diving is unlike any other in this world, offering close proximity to beautiful marine life (not to mention being incredibly safe all the while). Secondly, throughout my time in Fiji each person I met was kind-hearted, thoughtful, and full of life, making every moment wonderful. And thirdly, from what I experienced of the place, I believe that Fiji is a wonder of the world with vast natural landscapes (Sigatoka sand dunes, fun-yaking inland) more beautiful than anything I've ever seen before. With that, my experience was only made more enjoyable by my fellow Broadreach students and instructors. Throughout the three weeks, we fostered our own shark-loving community and learned an incredible amount about the species. My love for sharks, and Fiji as well, was only deepened on this trip, and I recommend it to any student considering the opportunity.

Paradise

This program to the magical island of Long Key Belize and the exhilarating adventures in Costa Rica proved to be a once in a lifetime experience. The trip began in Belize as our small group traveled to the small island of Long Key. This island to this day is my favorite spot in the world. We spent a week earning our diving certifications, exploring local islands, and experiencing the Belize culture with our new island friends. Between diving, kayaking, star gazing, and dance parties there was never a moment where we were not having the time of our lives, making leaving so sad. But on we were to our next adventures in Costa Rica where we departed from our relaxing island lifestyle and hiked up mountains, tried exotic fruits and plants, repealed, cliff jumped, build a cement area for local kids to play on, slept under a cave, white water rafted and surfed. This experience pushed me out of my comfort zone and I learned so much more about myself then I ever imagined. I am so honored to have been able to go on this life changing experience and I highly recommend it to any environment loving, adrenaline seeking teenager.

From a Small Mountain Town to a Small Mayan Village

While on my Broadreach program I experienced many life changing adventures, and friendships I will cherish for a very long time. One of the craziest experiences was after we had finished our WFR certification and were volunteering at La Loma Luz 7th Day Adventist hospital in San Ignacio, and at the Cornerstone Foundation in downtown San Ignacio. On one of my rotations at Cornerstone the trip intern Jonathan noticed my water bottle, he recognized the company, one from my small mountain town in Wyoming, one that I happen to work for. He then realized where I was from, having missed initial introductions, and we connected many mutual friends and experiences. Besides this I have never seen something as breathtaking and impressive as the Actun Tunich Muknal Caves (ATM) that we got to tour and explore. Belize, Broadreach, and the WFR were amazing.

My thoughts

During my time in Broadreach, it was my first time in Canada so I loved the experience. This one evening, we were at this encampment the night before going on our last kayaking trip, the ride had been long and it has rained a lot, it was my day as the organizer of sorts like we do at Broadreach and everyone was feeling down but then my amazing instructors steph and Quinn brought out marshmallows and Nutella! Just that day I had a little internet connection and my dad had told me I should video tape my friends and so I did. During this trip, I had become a kind of "mother" to my friends because I always had duct tape and I always told them things to not forget. Ironically I was also the youngest of our group but we were all a pretty tight family, so after flubs and gloss we sat around our first fire because the fire ban had been removed and I did an interview to all my friends! We had such an amazing time it was hilarious and I still look at the interviews they're extremely funny, my favorite was of Kayley say "hi my name is kayley and this is my 23rd marshmallow" it was funny because she loved marshmallow tortillas with Nutella and marshmallows but I just ate the Nutella, we had a very fun night and the rest of the trip and the whole trip was amazing! We shared stories and we were always on the same page no matter where we were from or how old we were. It was really a moment that I cherished the most.

What would you improve about this program?
Well I loved the idea of having the first kayaking trip as the hardest and then the second one as a base camp that was great so definitely I would advise you not to switch them around, I heard it was done one time and well I was glad it wasn't to me! If I had to change one thing that would definitely be variation in food! Yes I love tortillas and wraps and burritos but eating them for 3 weeks practically every lunch kind of put me off it for at least a year! As well as peppers! However since I'm not from America I had never tasted a bagel and almighty they were great so keep 'em coming!!
