an underrated study abroad experience

I studied abroad in Prague in the Fall of 2022 and I had such a good time. Prague is a beautiful and underrated city and it is a great and popular destination for study abroad students. They have such a rich history and culture and it was so different from everyday life in the US. We studied at a previously existing university in the heart of the city which made everything super easy and convenient and our professors were great. Even though there are somewhat limited course offerings, I loved all the classes I took especially because of the focus on experiential learning. We also went on two overnight excursions to other towns in Czech Republic and did really fun activities like cave spelunking. The 3.5 months went by so fast because I made great friendships and there is so much to do with Verto and on your own. I would definitely recommend Prague!

Pros
  • unique city
  • so much to in Prague and so easy to travel to other countries
Cons
  • can be a difficult adjustment for some because the culture is very different

The best experience of my life

Starting college in Costa Rica was the best choice I've ever made and I am so grateful for my experience and for Verto. I was unsure what I would do when I graduated high school and took a leap of faith in going to Costa Rica. I didn't know much about the program but I wanted to earn credits abroad and I got so much out of my time in Turrialba. Shortly after arriving, I knew I wanted to do another semester with Verto. Living on campus with all the Verto students and staff meant we had such a strong community. The excursions were incredible, I had the chance to go all over the country and even to Panama as part of the program, not including independent travel. The classes and professors were top-tier, and I genuinely learned so much even without trying. So many of our classes were held outside of the classroom which made everything so much more memorable. I will cherish my time in Costa Rica for the rest of my life and I truly can't recommend it enough.

Pros
  • community
  • immersive adventure
  • so much fun and amazing memories
Cons
  • air conditioning is rare to find

I was able to meet new friends, see different sites, and experience another culture while also earning college credit. It’s because of Verto that I was able to have a memorable first year of college and that I had the best experiences to cherish. Also, Verto has a list of partner colleges as well ad college counselors who will support you in whatever path you take during your experience and after you finish the program. Highly recommend choosing Verto Education to start off your first year of college!

Pros
  • Earn college credits
  • Have access to unique experiences and relationships

Fall 2022 Semester with Verto Education in Turrialba, Costa Rica!

My time in Turrialba, Cartago, Costa Rica with Verto Education was well spent doing various activities. Not only did I earn 12 college credits during my semester in Costa Rica, but I also went to some incredible places, such as the Aquiares Coffee & Community, Bocas del Toro in Panama, and local events in the town of Turrialba such as the local Christmas concert to receive toy donations for the local orphanage.

I also want to note that the Verto Education staff are very, very helpful while students are abroad. Not only are they approachable, but they are beyond ready to help you with anything you may need. They are enthusiastic about their work and are ready to help you regarding your academics or life abroad at any time.

I, among all alumni, recommend Verto Education to those who are wanting to push themselves out of their comfort zones. The program is a life-changing educational journey where you are able to experience so many new things along the way. It’s once in a lifetime that you get the chance to do something like this, so apply and take that chance!

Dream Location

Italy has always been my dream location and I have always dreamed of traveling abroad as soon as I got the chance to do so. Verto Education gave me the opportunity to do just that. This is not my first semester with Verto, it is actually my second. I did a semester the fall of 2021 and then I took a two semester break and did college in my home state in the USA. Then I decided to come back because I loved it so much. The academic portion so far is pretty good, I like my classes and they are fun. I have had a fun time in class so far. I am currently taking Art History, Quantitative Reasoning, Elementary Italian, and Principles of Communication. They offer other courses as well! I feel extremely supported by the staff as well and they have been super accommodating. The living situation is a 10/10 from me, we live in the most gorgeous flat right in the middle of everything. Florence has also been super affordable so far as well, groceries have actually been really cheap (this is something I was worried about). It is a once in a lifetime experience for sure! I am super grateful. Check out my TikTok to see Verto Florence from my point of view @annaaa023

Pros
  • Affordable
  • Supportive Staff
  • Tons of Adventure
Cons
  • Time change from family back home (create a routine though!)
  • I wish there was a communal kitchen
  • Not much nature to see here in Florence

Verto in Spain

Verto in Seville is very freeing. I personally chose to live with a host family who are some of the most fun people i’ve ever met. They have a family with dogs and kids and we eat meals together every day and go out on occasion too. They have made me feel like part of the family and I am grateful for them. On weekend I go and take trips to different Spanish cities. Classes are unique and I would definitely recommend the program. They offer lots of different opportunity for financial aid and the program is diverse.

Pros
  • Freedom
  • Travel
  • Academics

Verto London Spring 2023

I have been with Verto for a full semester in Spain, and I loved it. They provided all kinds of support for the culture shock that we were experiencing, and they had counselors, doctors, and student life coaches to talk to if we ever had any problems abroad. Currently, I’m in my second semester with Verto (in London), and I highly recommend Verto for students who are unsure about what they want their college experience to look like. They offer a fantastic experience abroad, but they also provide many post-Verto college plans with their partner schools. Aside from academics, Verto offers countless excursions no matter the location you are studying in. In London, we’ve had an exciting excursion almost every single weekend so far. I highly recommend Verto!

Pros
  • Excursions
  • Partner Schools
  • Living accommodations

Verto Education - Turrialba, Costa Rica Fall 2022

I decided to study abroad with Verto Education for my first year of college. During my first semester, I traveled to Turrialba, Costa Rica and spent almost 4 months there learning and growing. I made life long friends, traveled to new cities weekly, conquered 2 new countries (Costa Rica and Panama), saw things I had never seen before (waterfalls, volcanoes, the jungle, sloths, monkeys, native birds), and took great classes with amazing professors.
I recommend Verto Education Costa Rica location for anyone who wants a life changing experience full of growth, adventure, and happiness. It's a great way to be fully immersed in a new culture and learn a lot about yourself as well as the world you live in.

Pros
  • full of adventure and conquering new things, newfound growth and independence
  • meeting people your age from all around the world
  • once in a lifetime opportunity
Cons
  • far away from home (the US), missed hometown friends and family
  • for some people it was hard to adjust to new independence and culture shock

Unforgettable Experience

My experiences with Verto Education are ones that I will carry with me for my entire life. I am currently in my second semester with Verto, my first being in Turrialba, Costa Rica and now in Buenos Aires. I really recommend this program if you feel that you are in need of something new and exciting. This program is also well suited for individuals who are hands-on learners. The classes are set in experiential learning style, meaning that many of them are full of excursions helping you learn in an environment directly correlated to what you are learning in class. For example, in the environmental history course, many of the class days were filled with hikes and tours throughout the beautiful environment of Costa Rica. Likewise in Buenos Aires our Art History course is full of museum trips in which you discuss specific pieces in an open and accepting classroom environment. This learning style has personally allowed me to grow as a person and has allowed me to feel truly as well as fully immersed in my academics without experiencing burnout. If you are between a regular 4 year-college University and Verto education, take the chance and study abroad. You won’t regret it :)

Pros
  • Long Lasting Memories
  • Friendships
  • Community
Cons
  • Not to accommodating to dietary Restrictions
