Orphanage

Had an amazing time working at the orphanage and meetin all the children. Ali and laila, were amazing in looking after us and always ensured we were safe and used our time in the best way. The programme helped me learn about different cultures and authentic morroco. Living in the accommodation has allowed me to make firends from all over the world and develop and connection. This experience has truly been a very heart touching experience and has opened my eyes to the many different ways of life and people

What would you improve about this program?
Have a more structured approach
Provide volunteers with more support in allowing them to organise further activities with the children

My Experience

It was an amazing experience working in the orphanage with special need children as well as interacting with the older youths. Leila and Ali were very helpful on suggesting things to do during our free time. On the weekend, I was able to visit places such as chefchaouen and Casablanca which topped it all off! I will definately reccomend my family and friends to volunteer with Volunteering Solution.

Memorable experience which i will never forget. Favourite part was being able to interact with the children carry out all the activities and games with them. Being able to use our past experiences and care for the special needs kids feeding them and playing with them also.
Being able to talk and work with the staff and being able to communicate the basics and learn the basic arabic moroccan language
As well as being able to take part in the throne party at the end

Unforgettable Experience in Cusco

Unforgettable experience that was not akways easy, but was worth it. Was met at airport by Kelly, with Volsol, who got us to our host home via taxi. My friend and I could already tell we did not know enough Spanish. Our host home was nice and comfortable and we loved our host “mom” Elizabeth and her daughter, Karla. Jenny led the orientation, as she is the coordinator for all the programs in Cusco. We started work at the medical clinic the next day. I was able to work in triage and with a general practitioner, and spent one day in Pediatrics. Weekends were spent exploring the beautiful country of Peru. It was cold, and there’s no heat anywhere, which was hard for me and my friend. We struggled to communicate with taxi drivers and started using Taxidatum, which helped. The tour company ExploorPeru was excellent and had a little problem with InkaTime, but Jenny assisted us. Overall a great experience!

What would you improve about this program?
Make sure it is clear you must be fluent in Spanish to do this program. Bring warm clothes if going in July. Rotate in clinic every other day to get more comprehensive experience. Set up way to meet the other volunteers before you go.

Beautiful Ghana

My stay in Ghana has been undoubtedly the best experience I've ever lived.
I went as a medical student and a had the pleasure to work in the Tamale Central Hospital.
I'm so grateful to have this unique opportunity and to learn from it. I can describe ghanaian people by their permanent smile and kindness even if you are not one of them. They make sure you feel like home and happy with them.
Also I was very lucky because the other volunteers were very nice and funny and we all support each other. I learned a lot from them too and I will never forget it!
The landscape is breath-taking and the trips the program offer us were really good.
Just something important if you are like me... Careful with the spicy food!

What would you improve about this program?
I think the only detail I would change is to suggest to bring more money with you because the recommended amount by the program is not enough at all.

Peru Clinical Volunteering Experience

Cusco is an amazing place to volunteer in. It gives an unfiltered view of many cultures, between the ancient Inca Empire, the Hispanic culture, and the modernizing of an up-and-coming city. It features a host of tourism sites, and as such people are used to foreigners and generally are kind and open if you know some Spanish and communicate with them. I think I'll always appreciate Hispanic and South American cultures for "what they are" and how awesome they can be because of the experiences I had in Peru.

What would you improve about this program?
It was pretty good overall. Sometimes it was a bit crowded in host family houses, but my personal experience (a bit of an exception) was pretty good.

Review

Translated: "In the first place, the Anta health center, in my opinion, is too far away and we depend on too many means of transport, it is quite risky given the driving of the people here.

Secondly, in my impression, I have not helped what I would like. I have not participated as much in the activities of the center as I would have liked. There is not so much work for so many volunteers. I have not felt one more within the professionals. I have not learned what I would like or achieved initially set goals such as healing wounds, putting vaccines ...

Good thing, we have seen two births! And I have learned to take manual blood pressure."

Y he aprendido a tomar la tensión arterial manual.

What would you improve about this program?
Translated: "The proximity of the center.
The organization within center for volunteers."

Peru nursery working review

I would definitely recommend this trip for anyone interested in working with children in the future as volunteering to help in a Peruvian classroom with around 25 children will quickly prepare you for all kinds of jobs in childcare. One thing that stands out about this trip is that all of the volunteers across the different programs offered in Cusco by volunteering solutions often join together to see the different parts of Cusco as a group. This trip can easily be undertaken alone as it is easy to make friends and travel companions once you reach Cusco.

What would you improve about this program?
This program could be improved by offering one event each week where all of the volunteers are able to meet each other , I.e at a dinner

Kindergarden Cusco

Coming to south American for 2 weeks without family was a challenge for me at first, but the welcoming staff members/host family helped a lot. I also made loads of friends from all around the world. I worked at a nursery for children ages 3-5, and really enjoyed it. I couldn't speak any Spanish when I came, but i ended up learning some from the children. I got to see how the community in Cusco lived and saw how different it was to home life. I got to see parades (even walk in one with the children), celebrate in festivities and do lots of sightseeing in my free time. I felt very safe here and enjoyed the social life in the plaza. I would highly recommend this programme, but would suggest relatively strong spanish speaking levels.
