Iguana Abroad was the first time in my life I realised that I can actually, truly, learn Spanish. I had been “learning” Spanish on and off for about 8 years before I took the course - always coming to dead ends and kicking myself for being an idiot. Every time the more I learnt, the more I felt I was never going to get anywhere, honestly felt like I was moving backwards - that I didn’t have a “language brain”.
The 4 week course I took with Iguana Abroad was a huge eye opener for me. One thing I can say after the IA course - to learn a language, you honestly can’t just sit in front of a language app on your smartphone and tap the screen.
I could write a much longer review, about the whole course, and would be delighted to do an interview or something as well. Really what I want to say here is that if you really, genuinely, feel you can’t learn Spanish - then take this course - you’ll see what I mean.
What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
Without any doubt whatsoever, it was going on a date with a girl who talked no English, and talking entirely in Spanish (and maybe a little bit of Spanglish at points as well haha). Doing this kind of thing for about 100 reasons is something I thought I'd never ever ever be able to do. That genuinely surprised me.
