I was quite nervous about coming to Mexico before I came, but I’m so glad I did. Mexico is an incredible country – amazing food, beautiful nature, vibrant culture and amazing people – and Iguana Abroad really was such a perfect way to experience it. I loved every moment of the trip – taking the Spanish classes (te extraño Fernanda!), getting to know the other people on the course, taking the Mexican cookery course with Nohemi and Victor, learning to dance salsa and of course travelling to different parts of the country on the weekends. It’s hard to choose a favourite memory but I think one of the best moments for me personally was Las Estacas (a natural park with turquoise jungle rivers), although Xochimilco was amazing as well (the ancient Aztec city that is literally built on water!). Overall, Iguana Abroad was an amazing experience and so worth it. If you are in two minds about going, just go for it – you won’t regret it.
What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
I think just overcoming my fear and booking my flights to Mexico was the most nerve-racking moment - I was not sure what to expect when I arrived but Iguana Abroad made the whole process quite easy and made it a lot less stressful. They spoke to me before I got my flight because I was worried about the entrance requirements which was really useful, and there was also someone there to meet me at the airport when I arrived in Mexico City (even though my flight got in at 11pm local time) which made arriving in Mexico a lot less nerve-racking
