Sol Abroad Argentina program

The program is focused on academics as well as cultural immersion. Being in a homestay forces the use of the target language, which is very good; immersion is the best way to learn a language. The classes at the Academia Buenos Aires are very rigorous without being overwhelming. The cultural excursions are enjoyable and very Informative. Though it is worth noting that winters in Argentina can be quite chilly. Also, as pedestrians, people need to be very careful as drivers don't always yield. Overall, though, a good experience.

What would you improve about this program?
It would benefit from a greater variety of excursions.

An Experience of a Lifetime

If you're looking for an exotic, diverse, interesting experience in your life, a study broad in Spain is what you need! Prior to going to this fascinating country, I was fairly nervous, especially for things such as living with a host family who does not know any English, and also just blending in well with the Spanish social scene. However, once I was in Spain, I loved everything about those three and a half weeks. The teachers gave us just the right amount of freedom so we could explore Spain and feel independent, while also keeping us safe at all times and always checking in on us to make sure everything was all right. In addition, they took us to various aspects of Spanish culture, all of which were very different on their own. I would say one of my favorite excursions we did was Los Cahorros, because while some parts of the hike were a little out of my comfort zone, with slippery rocks, and narrow paths, once we passed the bridges and cave, I felt like seeing the river at the end was a little gem. Also, I loved climbing up to the top of the hill to get a beautiful view of the natural setting. Overall, I would definitely recommend this trip to any type of person, outgoing or introverted, because each person will be able to take away something unique from this gem of a place!

Happy parents!

We sent a 14 and 15 year old on the trip to Granada and from the very beginning the program was accommodating . The boys were able to live together with a family they described as fun and full of energy in a centrally located apartment that made it easy for them to get around. The sol abroad did an excellent job of keeping us abreast of important information like the boys initial arrival in Madrid and regular Facebook postings of pictures. We feel like their time was well spent with a perfect balance of class, excursions and time with their host family. We hoped the experience would open their eyes to the world around them and that is exactly what happened. We were able to travel to Granada to pick the boys up and we're thrilled to share in a bit of their experience. The sol abroad program was a huge success in our eyes. Thank you.

Summer in Oaxaca

I stayed in Oaxaca for 2 weeks and I learned a lot. I learned about their culture and everyday lives. This program also improved my Spanish speaking by giving me real life conversations. I think Oaxaca is the perfect place for this program to be held because there is so much culture and not a lot of tourists, which encourages you to use your Spanish more, such as if u were at a restaurant and you had o order something. Oaxaca is a lot filled with many activities and amazing sights that make me want to go back. Overall I had an amazing time and can't wait to visit Oaxaca again!

Coleman Brathwaite's Sol Abroad Experienvce

This experience was very valuable for me. At first I was nervous because I was going into a new environment, didn't know anyone, didn't know what to expect, and how I was going to adapt to life in Argentina. I didn't really feel comfortable until a few days into the program where I got to know everyone and I had fun being around these people. And I had fun. Being around this group of people was fun, getting to know them was fun, and I had a director who was a great guy to be around. I had lots of fun in Argentina and I would recommend anyone to go there for a visit.

What would you improve about this program?
I think this program is fine just the way it is. I wish we could do more things, but the weather prevented us from seeing what Buenos Aires had to offer

Awesome time in Costa Rica with SolAbroad

For the longest time I didn't want to go on this trip, I thought it was going to be super lame, that the school part would suck and I wouldn't be able to make any friends. However I actually had a great time, and this was easily a life changing experience. I gained a great new perspective, and still keep pretty close contact with some of the people I went with. The school/lessons portion of the trip was amazing and I didn't honestly realize how much i learned until I got home. Since I live in San Antonio I am surrounded by Spanish speakers, & coming back to being able to understand native speakers more easily, and just having a better understanding of even the billboards was awesome. All in all, great trip.

What would you improve about this program?
I honestly have no complaints, it was really fun.

Discubrir

Don't skip the opportunity to travel with Sol Abroad. It is a great experience. It provides the means to study at a local university with people from around the world and professors native to Spanish-speaking countries, live with a family and have one-on-one conversations to utilize your new Spanish skills, immerse yourself in the culture as well as the city, and still have free time to explore on your own! If you are looking to become more independent and explore with new people, join Sol Abroad. They also have beginners classes, so even if you haven't studied Spanish, they have a level you belong to. It is overall a truly wonderful experience and I would suggest Sol Education Abroad to everyone of all ages and skills!

I Never Would Have

While I was here, I met some really awesome people. One of my friends is really interested in seeing as much culture as possible. Thanks to her, I went to the Biodome and saw some really weird and really awesome animals and exhibits, and I tried vegan cuisihne! I´m so grateful that she had the energy to plan even more separate excursions on top of all of our pre-planned activities, and I´m so happy to have met her!

Sol Abroad Spain

My time in Spain was definitely worthwhile. I met lots of new people, improved my Spanish, and experienced tons of new things. My host family eas extremely generous, but I had hoped to spend more time with them. I had tons of fun at the beach, trying new food, and generally immersing myself into the Spanish culture. The program is well put-together, but directors are a bit hostile about free time, although it is offered and "encouraged".
