An Experience

I think that EF is a really great way to be a part of an international community while immersing yourself in French culture. The staff at EF really care about your experience being enjoyable and they make you feel at home. You can really see your progress in class and when talking with your host family. With EF you will have a home base in the center of the city to conquer the language and learn all about Paris.

Ma expérience

My stay at EF has so far been very great. I am staying in Paris in the semester 17/18. The school is located right in the center of Paris which is super nice. All the other students are very friendly and so far I've made many friends and feel very much at home in Paris. The thing that stands out for my is how fast you make friends, before i came i was very scared about not making friends, but all of my worries has definetly not been redemed. My french is also improving a lot and i can tell that I'm learning new things everyday.

Experience of a lifetime

EF and just Tokyo in general keep suprising me, I feel like I'm learning an extreme amount while I'm still able to keep up. the only complaint I have is ha the classes could use a break in between them cause 80 min x 2 is hard for your concentration level. Japan itself is wonderful and the people too, I would love to go again! All the friends I made are awesome and we allread have plans to meet up outside of Japan, If you want to learn japanese while having a great time. Absolutely go here!

After 6 weeks

I’m writing this review after going to ef-tokyo for 6 weeks. So far I’ve had a great time. Tokyo is such a huge city, so I’ve always had something to do. Everyday i’ve been here, I’ve gone to a different part of the city, or engaged in some kind of activity. The EF staff organize a lot of interesting and fun activities that I frequently joined, especially in the beginning. As I got more familiar with the city I started exploring more and more in my own and with friends. I’m staying with a host family, and the family lives rather far away, as it can take over an hour to get to school by train. However, the family is very friendly and talking Japanese with them is a good way to practice what we have learned in class. The classes are quiet good, with the general class covering most grammar and other classes that you can choose yourself covers more specific stuff. I currently have general classes, kanji, reading and shodo (calligraphy) classes. These classes suits me very well because one of my primary goals is to be able to read. I’m staying for 8 months total and I’m ver much looking forward to the rest of my stay here because I know that I won’t be bored and that I’ll learn a lot!

What would you improve about this program?
Most of the classes are well paced, but there are seemingly no good option for a more fast paced class. If you’re the type that learns quickly or spends a lot of time studying, you will rather easily find yourself ahead of the class. Meaning you’ll have to move classes quite often if your want to learn at your own pace. Also, depending on your classes, you might have quite short lunch brakes. The longest brake i have is 30 min which is barely enough time to go to the nearest food store (for this school it’s a regular conveniece store) and maybe eat I’ll have time to eat it if the line is not too long. Which is kind of a shame considering the schools very central location and all the good food options close by.

Oui Bien Sûr

My EF experience has helped me to grow in many different ways. I have matured and become much more independent during my time here. Meeting such different people from all over the world has given me a different outlook on everything and kept me open-minded. Living in the residence has given me different responsibilites by living on my own. I have made such amazing friends through EF and now know people all over the world. The staff is very friendly and makes school a very fun environment to be in. The activities they organize keep everyone involved and help you to meet everyone. Although I never studied French before coming here I feel like I have improved quite a lot. I really enjoy that the staff only speaks to us in French because it helps to immerse the students in the language and properly learn it. Overall I really love the EF program and have met people and had experiences I wouldn't trade for anything!

What would you improve about this program?
I personally don't think that there is anything to improve with this program. It has completely exceeded my expectations. J'adore EF!!!

La vie est belle

My experience at EF has helped me to develop abilities such as being more open-minded in terms of living with people from different countries that have different cultures and languages. Its a unique experience because you become more independant and the people from the program make you feel like home. You live many different EF moments that will stay in your heart forever. I feel like i grew as a person as well as a french student, in a few weeks i had already learnt a lot of french thanks to the teachers and staff at EF. Living in a different country as an indepedent peson has made me realise the importance of home, "home is where the heart is". It has impact in the way you look at life and the way you experience life. Before coming to Paris i wasnt really sure if i wanted to come, but once i was here i as very glad i chose to come and live this experience. I dont regret coming to EF Paris because it really is an unforgettable experience where you dont only live, but also learn, have fun, experience...

I know that squeezing my life into a suitcase and moving to another country has been one of the best decisions I've ever made. Because when you leave, when you turn your life into travel and uncertainty, you grow.
You face new challenges, you discover facets that you did not know, you are surprised and you let yourself be surprised by the world. You learn and expand your perspectives. You loosen up and, with a few lessons, you grow in humility. Evolve. You miss ... and you create memories that will no longer leave you.
From the moment you decide to leave, your life becomes a sway of emotions, of the unexpected, of learning and improvisation. The senses never sleep, and for a time you banish the word routine from your vocabulary to give way to adrenaline. New places, new customs, new challenges, new people ... The feeling of starting from scratch should frighten you, but it is addictive.

What would you improve about this program?
I wouldnt be able to give advice to the program in order to be imrpoved. Because to me, its a very complete program that fullfils everybody's needs. J'adore EF.

Life experience

When I started my course in January 2017 in EF Madrid, I thought it was going to be a difficult experience for me because it was one of the first times I left home without my parents. After arriving there, I quickly realized that this was going to be a great trip or even one of the best trips I ever did in my life. Indeed, I met great people throughout my journey in the school and in the city (people from all around the world that I still go see when I have the time). The EF staff is also amazing, everybody is there for you and everybody is really nice. If you are a shy person and you want to change that, I really recommend this school.
I was suppose to stay there for only 3 months but at the end I stayed 5 months there, I wanted to stay even longer but I couldn't due to personal things back in France but if I had a choice I would of stayed there.
I thank EF Madrid and EF Lyon for making a big part of my year really memorable and I would go back again and relive this experience if I could.

What would you improve about this program?
Sometimes there're some students that don't really want to learn the language even if they made the choice to go to EF. So I think that the school should try to inform themselves on that student and try to make them want to learn the language and not make their trip only a "little unmemorable vacation". Everybody deserves to

Absolutely Fabulous

So, when I first arrived, I was staying in a hostel room with roommates. There weren't really any inherent problems with it; room sharing just isn't my thing. For that reason, I stayed with a family member who lives in Berlin. All of that being said, the school itself is absolutely great. Very clean and modernly designed. The teachers are absolutely great at what they do. The staff are all very helpful and were always available when I needed something. I would definitely recommend this as long as you have a private room or really don't mind a lack of privacy.

What would you improve about this program?
I don't see much way of this program being improved, honestly. It was a fabulous learning experience for me. :)

EF Tokyo experience

EF was a great experience during the three weeks I spent in Tokyo. I stayed in the residence and only had to take one train to get to the school. The staff was very welcoming and willing to set up activities, although I didn't participate in the majority of them. I was very lucky to find great friends during my stay who I still keep in contact with. However everyone was friendly so there's no problem making friends, which was one of my primary concerns when arriving my first day. The classes are engaging and in small numbers which I enjoyed. I was in the highest class in EF at the time but I wished there could've been a higher level class. The teachers are absolutely amazing and I keep in contact with my general teacher from the time. I absolutely loved the experience and I plan to come back to Japan next year.

What would you improve about this program?
have higher level classes, the highest was B-1-2 when the highest was C-3-3 so more challenging classes would be nice, however most students are beginners so it is understandable.
