I loved this internship so much...!!

I am currently a third-year under-graduated student from International Business and they helped me with searching for an internship with focus on my field.

Jose from Instituto Hemingway was so so wonderful in helping me to find a suitable placement!!! She went above and beyond to help me finding a placement which worked for me and I am so grateful!
Jose and his team are proactive and work extremely hard for you in order to help you find an internship that suits.

My weekly internshp class was everything I hoped it would be. I already have a strong Spanish foundation, and I wanted to brush up on my skills since I don't have opportunities to speak Spanish in my daily life.

What was your funniest moment?
Like so many people I have been quarantined and out of work due to the corona virus. I decided it would be a good idea to do something useful with this extra time and I knew just who to contact. About two years ago, I traveled to Spain to study at Hemingway for two weeks. It was an incredible, life changing experience. Thankfully, Jose offers internship placement. I decided to give them a try.

When Jose and I both 'woop wooped' because I finally used the past tense properly!!

Fantastic and superb experience!

I came into this program with no Spanish knowledge and in 2 weeks I find myself having a basic conversation with Instituto Hemingway teachers and locals of my project. The structure of the lessons means that you learn quickly but through conversation rather than a traditional classroom experience. They provide you supplies and the teachers are brilliant! They teach all classes in Spanish which makes the experience that much more authentic! I´m very thankful for having done these lessons and will continue to be fluently in a short time!

What would you improve about this program?
Since I had no Spanish speaking ability I wish I could have spent more time on survival Spanish phrases at the beginning of the program but nevermind I am ready to go so further as never imagined!

Time-money total value

Problably the best time and classes I have completed in years.

I was very eager to learn Spanish when I began lessons and I had a great experience. I feel as though I learnt a lot very quickly and was able to start understanding and replying in Spanish during my time there. Carlos was a brilliant teacher and I would definitely recommend her to everyone. I have learnt more than enough in my two weeks of lessons to converse in Spanish and I hope to continue learning when I return home.

All of the staff and employee are great and really care about the individual person attending these classes. my recommendation would be to take individual classes if you are serious about learning.
This is a great country with great people.
Great time!!!!!!

What would you improve about this program?
Make sure you pay these great teachers what they are worth or you will not have them!!!!
People make a program like this great!!!

I am fluent in Spanish now

Instituto Hemingway is a fantastic school, with a very personal service. Jose checks up on students regularly, the teachers are fun and kind. They adapt to baseline level appropriately and follow a comprehensive curriculum. They are also very adaptable to timetables and are able to teach remotely on skype. They ensure that Spanish culture and geography are also learnt to give context to the language and make it fun. I cannot recommend this school enough. They have cultural activities for senior students too.

What was your funniest moment?
Choosing Instituto Hemingway is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. My Spanish improved immensely and I found a home away from home.

My experience with Instituto Hemingway is multidimensional. I’ve taken group and independent classes both in person and online and had the pleasure of working with 2 different teachers. Though I planned on living in Spain for 1 month, I love my Spanish host family so much I decided to quarantine with them for the foreseeable future. Today is my 16 week anniversary.

Mind-blowing experience

No doubt to take the programs from Instituto Hemingway, cause they have the most creative and motivated teachers you are going to have lessons with.
And of course as a foreigner you would love to have quality time with people around you and the activities that arranged and well planned for you. So which will give you the chance to keep so many good memories and experiences during your education with Instituto Hemingway and living in Spain. Culinary experience here with these guys was the best thing I did in my life honestly. It was such an amount of wonderful memories that I would need 2 lives to explain my wonderful time there.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
My first day was my most nerve-racking moment. Moving into a home with a family that doesn't speak my native language. The sudden realization that I'm far away from home. It's a natural moment of nerves that quickly passes.

Fantastic experience for my children

Studying abroad in Bilbao was one of the most enlightening experiences in my life and for my children. The city has such charm and history and there is always more to explore. You are in the heart of spanish culture, and although one of the main tourist attractions is in Bilbao you would never know how touristy the city really is. The businesses and people do not accustom to the touristy, English lifestyle, but will speak English with you if you need. This allows you to fully immerse yourself in the spanish culture and learn all that you can. It is great that the city is smaller because you can walk anywhere in a short matter of time- anywhere in the city, to getting lost up in the mountains and hills behind Bilbao. The staff of Instituto Hemingway were fantastic. They are all so nice and will do anything to ensure you have the best experience. Overall this studying with this program in Bilbao was the best decision I have ever made and recommend it to anyone who is looking for a true spanish experience

What would you improve about this program?
I would have liked to have more Spanish classes every week.

I loved this Spanish course for Seniors!

Instituto Hemingway staff was so knowledgeable and helpful during the entire program abroad, phenomenal experience that I would definitely do again if I had the opportunity. Our professors were so sweet and ensured that we had meaningful discussions

All of the places that we visited during our excursions were spectacular and unique in their own way and I really loved being able to know that we were visiting small villages and other excursions we took part in.I don't think my core values have changed. I still want our students to push themselves, and discover their limits, and fully engage with the people and environment here

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
If you are not an outdoorsy person, then don't fear! I was not very active prior to this trip but I had so much fun being able to go hiking, swimming or just sightseeing around Spain, I did ziplining twice as well as bungee jumping and scuba diving (:

I really enjoyed cooking and learning in Spain

I chose Bilbao mainly because of the excitement of the unknown. Before this, I had never been so far away for such a long period of time. The farthest time zone I had been was three hours ahead, and so I decided to jump into an 18 hour change.

I have lived in a small town my entire life and Spain was the perfect way to open up and jump (quite possibly fall) out of my comfort zone. If beautiful nature isn't enough, I was lucky to find a program that fits my needs. The Uni gave me so many course options that fit requirements for my home university. This was really important in deciding where to go and, fortunately, it worked out well.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
Though Spain is more famous for its red wine than white, the majority of its vineyards have white grapes and that was surprising for me.

Thumbs up for work and learn in Spain

I developed a lot of interpersonal skills and meet lots of wonderful people." First of all, I would like to say that it was truly an amazing opportunity. The conditions offered by the company were very good, the office is a modern place with a welcoming atmosphere. The team was very nice, mostly international people very kind. Everyone was sharing their culture, this way making the workplace more interesting.

The colleagues were super nice, I felt very accepted, and could always rely on them. The apartment they gave me was superb apartment, they also provided me with good food in the hotel.

It was my best internship experience so far, if I would have a possibility, I would definitely apply through your company again, thank you for everything

What was your funniest moment?
I was in Spanish class and made a confusion in class La and El in a serious discussion in Spanish class about the death penalty. Long story short do your best to use the right article for the given noun. La Pena de Muerte =Death penalty. El Pene De Muerte=The Penis of Death.

Best School trip to Spain ever

I can’t say enough good things about this trip! The country and all the sites we visited were amazing but what really brought the whole experience together was the tour director. I was really impressed by his knowledge and willingness to accommodate everyone to the best of his abilities. I came with 30 students. I have been on tours before and enjoyed them but I have never had a tour director that took such a personal interest in the group. There was a really good balance of scheduled time versus free time and everything was very well timed and organized. I would definitely do another tour, especially if I could get the same tour director!

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
With such a dedicated culinary culture – and so spicy a one at that! – it’s considered the height of bad form to ask for ketchup to go with a Spaniards carefully prepared dishes.
