China: Summer Ceramics with WVU

This course will take you to Jingdezhen in China and seize the chance to study the traditional Chinese clay art, its features, and its uses. Classes will focus on hand-building, wheel-throwing, and surface decoration skills, and other unique aspects such as clay mixing, glazing, and kiln firings.

This summer program will cover the mysteries of the traditional clay art through lectures, demonstrations, and assignments, but will allow students to discover Jingdezhen in their spare time.

  • Discover Jingdezhen, China's new studio practices of clay art.
  • Get some hand-building, wheel-throwing, and surface decoration skills.
  • Travel around the ancestral city of Jingdezhen.
