Archaeological Field School Summer Courses
- Ireland
About Program
The Achill Archaeological Field School, Ireland’s longest running archaeology field school, offers a range of high-quality accredited courses in archaeological excavation and surveying for Spring and Summer 2018.
Courses combine both academic and practical fieldwork components with issued by the National University of Ireland, Galway. Accredited courses are of twelve, six, four, or two weeks duration, with up to 9 Semester Credit Hours available.
All courses are residential in a modern self-catering accommodation block on Achill Island, on Ireland’s spectacular Wild Atlantic way.
In 2018 we are running two projects. The first, in May and June, will investigate an 18th-19th century communal village at Keem Bay. The second, in July and August, will examine an early modern settlement in sand dunes at Caraun Point, Achill Island.
