TravelGrad

I went to teach in China in August 2019, I began this experience with 2 friends, we left everything we knew behind in the UK to go teach English in China. It was an amazing adventure, we had support from the moment we signed up. Andrew was always on hand to help us through any questions or ease us through the nerves. Once we got out there, the nerves went away and we had an incredible time. We met wonderful people also leaving the UK to teach in China, incredible locals who were friendly and inclusive, the school supported the whole application process and encouraged 2 way learning (us learning and the kids learning). We’ve come out of the experience with life long friends, a huge sense of pride from completing the year and a huge appreciation for China. We also got to do a lot of travelling around South East Asia and China too which was really fun! Such a great experience overall and TravelGrad is a fantastic company to pursue this opportunity with!

Pros
  • Learning lots of new skills and getting to experience new parts of an amazing culture
  • Super easy to make friends throughout the experience
  • Great support from the start which continues even after you leave

Makes the stress of moving abroad much more relaxed!

I moved to Shanghai in 2019, using “the China teaching experience” which was formally, and is now a service offered by ‘TravelGrad’.

Andrew who heads the company was super helpful in getting us to China. He helps with the documentation, flights, job placement etc but more importantly, he introduces you to people who are doing the exact same thing you are doing!

Without the support system of Andrew and my fellow travelers at the time, I would never have made it to now my 4th in Shanghai!

Pros
  • Stress reducing travel
  • Meeting other travelers doing the same thing
  • A organic and organised transition into expat living

TravelGrad is great!

I went to China through TravelGrad’s China Teaching Experience option and haven’t looked back since! Sometimes trying to get visas sorted can be daunting. But, TravelGrad were the biggest support with getting a TEFL sorted as well as getting all the visa documents sorted too! So friendly and helpful. I’ve been in China for 3 years, but still TravelGrad is always happy to help me with any questions and queries I may have. The support before and after you go is just amazing! Would recommend to everyone.

Pros
  • Support before and after departure
  • Make the process of visas manageable and simple
  • Friendly people

Travel Grad - China Teaching Experience

I had a fantastic year, met lots of cool people, learned a lot about myself and was able to experience China.

China was awesome, definitely don't let any preconceptions hold you back, everyone was friendly and helpful. Fortunately I had lots of holidays so had plenty opportunity to travel within China. And save a little cash to travel afterwards.

Andrew did a great job organising everything before we arrived. This made the transition really easy! All we had to do was teach and enjoy our time off. Would definitely recommend to anyone thinking about travelling after graduation.

TravelGrad set me up for life

Isn't it funny how one decision can wholly alter one's life? At the end of my university life, I had already secured an internship in my chosen profession. However, working there felt like a chore, and I wondered if I had made the right choice with my chosen degree.

I decided to take a gap year to figure it all out, and I had heard of TravelGrad through a friend. So, without hesitation, I decided to go to China just for a year to teach English, have some exciting experiences, and, in the end, return to 'real life.'

Well, I couldn't have predicted at the time how life-changing that decision was to be. I had discovered a career which was wholly more fulfilling than the 9-5 I had left behind in Britain. I had fallen in love, not only with the teaching but also with a fellow English teacher.

We are now married with children, and it has been seven years since I have lived in Britain. My 'just a gap year' turned into an exciting life. I have been all over the world, opened my own school, and branched out into marketing.

The TravelGrad journey continues for me, and I will always be grateful to them for making it an easy first step into the great beyond.

Where do I go from here? Only time will tell.

Pros
  • Great Adventure
  • Great Support
  • Great Deal

China Teaching Experience 2018-2020

I joined the CTE for what was supposed to be 10 months in 2018, but I loved my experience in China so much, that I ended up staying for 16 months! The director Andrew was highly supportive and made sure our transition from the UK to China was as smooth as possible. I had several reservations before leaving for China, for instance, being a black woman; Andrew put me at great ease by ensuring to connect me with previous black applicants that shared their experiences with me. I would 100% recommend this life-changing experience.

Pros
  • Lengthy holidays that provide time for a lot of travelling
  • Friendly and helpful locals and colleagues
  • China's vastness
Cons
  • Constant photos being taken by locals
  • Drastic weather changes
  • Unexpected lesson cancellations

Travel Grad - China Teaching Experience

If you are thinking about working abroad I could not recommend travelgrad any more! I travelled to China to do the China Teaching Experience in 2018-2019 and had an unforgettable experience. Initially I was slightly apprehensive but they put me at ease. Andrew supported me throughout the whole process from visa application - the end. They were able to place me in the same city as my friend and find me a work contract that gave me plenty of free time to explore China and further afield. I also got to spend 2 months travelling Thailand during my holidays from work during the spring break. This experience not only was fun it also helped me make further life decisions where I’m now a qualified in the UK. 100% recommend this experience.

Pros
  • Unique experience
  • Opportunity to travel
  • Good on CV/applications

A helpful and fun organisation that really helped me overcome the admin and anxieties of teaching in China

TravelGrad was fantastic in helping me to overcome both administrative/bureaucratic barriers and the general anxieties of moving to the other side of the world.

The service and support they offered was friendlier and more personal than other providers and made the whole process as smooth as could be.

The school I was placed at was safe, well managed and supportive. Through them I ended up in a great place where I got make more friends, experience a new culture, food and language and have some amazing adventures!
