ACT TEFL JOURNEY

Indeed it was an Amazing learning Experience. However, the venue has disappointed me. Washroom is the biggest hindrance knowing the fact that it is the basic need to survive in the learning centre for 8-9 long hours. I believe this is ought to be taken up in the priority list and surely the venue should be changed. As it doesn't matches the TEFL trainee's expectation and creates an ongoing problem. Just one washroom for both male and female is a biggerest challenge... However, Anamika and Bhargavi are the strongest pillar of ACT TEFL Bangalore and in spite of all infrastructure and manpower issues. Keep it up!!!!! TEFL is going to hold a gr8 weightage in my Professional journey....

Great Program

I have no teaching experience, hence I wanted to pick up all that I can from this course.
The teaching methodologies used were great and gave me an understanding of how a non- English speaker would feel, and how we would have to teach them.
The peer teach and teaching practice in schools have given me an exposure I've never had before. Teaching practice has given me a real time example of how my future teaching experience would actually be. It has helped me overcome my fears and boosted my confidence.
My overall TEFL experience has been great and I want to make maximum use of what I've learnt and grow as a teacher.

A Journey to a Whole New World

This course has opened my eyes to a whole new world. From the first day till the last, I hardly felt time fly. Everyday was a new one, we were constantly on our toes and the edge of our seats. Every hour and day we were learning something new. I thought it would be a lecture type of course but we were always doing something new. I have not only grown in my knowledge of the subject but also what is happening in the ESL world. Plenty of insight on type of students out there, and how basic is basic!
Loved this experience!

becoming a teacher

My journey with ACT TEFL has been more of a self contemplation. I have discovered new things in myself, new boundaries have been set. I have had a few myths busted, I had been thinking that i am very good with my grammar but that i got new insights on grammar and its diversity.
The teaching approach and techniques are very effective and worth learning. It has been an amazing journey with some amazing people.

What would you improve about this program?
I think that the grammar input sessions could be more that just one, because most people thought speak correct grammar would have forgotten all its basics because of lack of practice after leaving school.

My TEFL journey has just begun! Looking forward to the future ans what it will bring.
Its been a great journey, enriching and interesting! I've met an amazing group of people!
Learnt a great deal about myself, where my weak points are and how to improve them.
The techniques taught were wonderful and implementing them in a teaching environment has been an interesting experience!
I'm looking forward to teaching and traveling all over the world!

Best place to be trained.

Asian college of teachers is the best college to do TEFL/TESOL Course. The course was very good. The training will really equip a person to become a good ESL teacher. The Institute provides you the job assistance which I found was the best part of ACT. If one want to travel abroad and teach, I prefer to get TEFL/TESOL certificate from Asian college of teachers, that will be the best. Hope this review helps you to fetch a good career.

My journey in TEFL was really nice because it supported me a lot in all my future teaching plans. I enjoyed a lot here with my unique friend from different countries and different states. I have gone to a teaching course called Montessori where i dint find much of exposure of learning there ,where else here its totally different and i had lot of exposure in learning and teaching . My facilitator was my role model for being a inspired teacher.

What would you improve about this program?
Like providing WiFi for the students to support their lesson planning materials

An Enjoyable Journey in my English Language learning

I enjoyed my learning experience at ACT. The over all experience was one of intense learning. There was a lot to unlearn also. The methodologies and methods I am sure would be useful for the rest of my career. The 120 hrs were not just time spent educating myself , but also making friends and accumulating new experiences.
The city of Bangalore added to the learning. The networking that would happen as I would go along will surely help me in the long run.

Why did you choose this program?

It's my dream to travel around the world. Basically I'm a commerce student (mcom). If I choose an accounting job, any other job I can't fullfill my dream. Teaching is my passion, so I decided to teach and travel around the world. I'm sure that this program is the best way to fullfill everyone's dream.

What did your program provider (or university) assist you with, and what did you have to organize on your own?

ACT helps every students to improve their communication skills and also they provide advanced technology, methodology to their students. Our trainer Is also a talented person; she helps me so much to clear my doubts without hesitation. If I can do my own, I should help the students to achieve their dreams.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

My advice is to my friends who are going to do this course is that, if you have strong passion for teaching, you can succeed; otherwise, never do this course. This course is a big platform for those who dream to go abroad and teach. It is also a challenging program. Do what you make happy and follow your heart.

What does an average day/week look like as a participant of this program?

If you are studying in ACT, punctuality is a must. Wake up early and going to class on time is very important. Every day we are eagerly waiting to do new activities and pair works. There are lot of activities and group work given by our trainer that are very useful for improving our ability to teach and handling the students.

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change?

I don't have any experience because I never go abroad. If I get a chance to go abroad, my biggest fear will be independence because I live in a joint family; I never visited any place without my parents. But I believe I can overcome this situation for making new friends and colleagues. Face situations with courage and confidence.

Do you have a favorite story abroad?

I don't have any favourite story to share, sorry for that. I think, don't go abroad with fears. Just enjoy your profession and travel around the world . Set your mind before going to abroad; face the challenges and accept their culture; obey the rules don't make it complicated. Respect elders. Thank you.

What is your favorite travel memory?

Although I have traveled to few countries in the world and immigrated too, however, till date my all time favorite travel memory is when I had visited Thailand in the year 2009. It was almost as if I was in love with that place instantly and secretly wished to work in Thailand. By God's grace, my dream came true through Asian College of Teachers. As TEFL trainer, my job demands traveling and training in different locations and I have been traveling to Bangkok on and off for the same. Exotic locales of Thailand, friendly and ever smiling people, amazing hospitality, unlimited variety of food and a paradise for the shopaholics, make my travels to Thailand an evergreen one, always.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

There are many factors that come into play in being a successful company. However, I believe that the biggest factor is innovation along with good marketing strategies. Although success, however we choose to define it, is a continuous work in progress. Most importantly, in a company where people work as 'WE' than 'I', it is creating more compelling and enriching future.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

I have not only changed but also grown since working for Asian College of Teachers. Changed in terms of being more confident, efficient and most importantly in skill building. Definitely I see myself to have grown as an effective communicative trainer and people's manager, from what I used to be fours years back.

What unique qualities does your company possess?

The leadership team of every good company has a great ambition for the company. Asian college of Teachers (ACT) offers the same, meet customer needs, relentless attention to execution (not only the products but in customer service too) and offers flexibility to all its employee, which makes ACT a great place to work for.

Describe a time when you felt especially proud to be part of your current team.

There is not a time where I felt proud to be a part of an efficient team but quite a few moments where I have felt the same. To be able to recognize employee's talent and efficiency is culture and a ritual that is effectively practiced in ACT. Whenever my hard and smart work have been appreciated, it goes without saying that it has simply boosted my self confidence, helped further to speed up my efficiency and planted the seed to learn and grow more.

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

The best story so far what I have heard is when a student claims how ACT has touched its life and has helped to transform. The best of the best part is, when a student expresses to be a part of ACT as an employee or to work as a partner.
