Very misleading, stating that the 420 hour diploma is a Foundation Degree, when in fact it is worth nothing more than the paper it is printed on.
It has no worth a degree, dont waste your money on their misleading and lying adverts!
I paid a lot of money to do the course, worked hard to complete it all, only have one assignment left, and I find out it is NOT a foundational degree, it is actually worth NOTHING!
Very disspointed in I-to-I, their reply was it is a mistake on the advertising side. (Wondering if that is yet another lie to add to it all!)

We're very sorry that you took the course under the impression that the 420-hr course was a Foundation Degree. Our description specifies that this is a Foundation Degree-level qualification, as both our 420-hr TEFL course and a Foundation Degree are classified as Level 5 on Ofqual's Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).
This will not affect your ability to get TEFL roles, if this was your aim in completing the course, as the 420hr Advanced Diploma is in high demand with TEFL employers.

I-to-I is a wonderful institution to get your tefl diploma, not only are their staff helpful, considerate, thoughtful and bubbly, but their content is good amazing.
They have a variety of courses to choose from as well as the different levels which you'd like to do them at.
The content and their portal is very user friendly and they're always ready to help every step of the way.
Their markers are precise and skilled. And their feedback to assignments is extremely helpful and rewarding.
I-to-I pride themselves in providing nothing but the best.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?

I would not waste an extra minute over considering whether I should do the course I would just do it!

I had chosen this program after a careful research and it didn't disappoint. I'm an experienced general and business English tutor, and though about 90% of the program wasn't new to me, the rest of it including video observations of teachers at work and the practice in writing extended lesson plans was engaging and professionally beneficial. For those who consider EFL as a career and don't know where to start I can recommend this program as the one that can provide a very solid base. Take your time to complete it though, as it is a demanding program.

What would you improve about this program?

I would like to see more teacher observation videos included, they are helpful and insightful.

I was expecting the course to be heavy on teaching grammar from the beginning but was very happy to find this was a module later on, and it didn't feel other whelming.
The course was very well structured and each module flowed nicely from one to another.
The quizzes at the end of module, and some quick ones mid module, helped me retain the information better than reading and note taking. The assignments were tough but there was support for any questions I had and they were very quick at responding.
I feel very prepared to teach a class !

From the very start, this course was engaging and interesting. Not only jumping straight into Language teaching, but also the history of how it came about, and the progression that it has made through time. Thoroughly enjoyed the units, which were well explained, and the quizes that kept you honest. The assessments were relevant, and collated all of the information that you learnt throughout the unit.
All this said, there is nothing to fear at all. Everything is well explained, and there are no "catch you outs".
Would highly recommend for any age.

What was your funniest moment?

On one of the assignments i really couldn't pin down a topic. I spent days thinking about it, and coming up with nothing. One day i went out in the car, and listened to the radio. A song came on that i had not heard for years, it provoked so many memories and unlocked something in my brain, that when i arrived home i set out the outline for my assignment in one go!!

Teachers and support were insulting and did not respond to many attempts at communicating with them.
They constantly offer excuses and lie at every turn to try and pull more money from you.
I bought a $20 book off Amazon with more information on teaching than the entire I-to-I "course".
This course is entirely a waste of time, money and effort.

I did the 120hrs course along side working full time to enable me to change career paths and try teaching abroad instead.
This course was really well laid out and easy to follow.
Following completion of the course I received my results back in three working day with good notes and feedback... and I passed!
Now I can’t wait to get to Spain in September, just waiting to here back to where I will be placed.

What would you improve about this program?

Let you know younonly have a limited time to complete before you open the course. If I had known I would have opening it a different day.

The courses offered with i-to-i are amazing, I had the honor of taking the IELTs coach, Young learners, teenage learners and the main 160 hour +20 in class hour courses. These courses go in-depth in the areas you will you need to know and practice when going out to teach English internationally. The grammar lessons proved very practical, the extra material offered to buy also helped out greatly(teaching guides). You can't just choose the course and think you can rush finish it. Its gonna take time, and the amount of time you invest into it, will be well worth it in the end. Taking notes through the course, I look back and there was never a chapter that did not have information needed. The safe are also very helpful in and throughout the course, trying to help boost your confidence and guide you on the right path. I greatly encourage you to try it. On the plus side, it is a lot cheaper and I believe more fun then the oxford courses.

There is a classified section on the site. Everything that you are certified in from the site shows up on your profile. Plus the listings are all companies who would prefer a student from this school because it is a trusted site. One on One job placement they do not do.

What is the age maximum?

Paul Stanton grew up in Leeds, England: the Mecca of the North. After working in Leeds, he realized he needed a fulfilling travel experience and was a little apprehensive to go it alone. Paul decided to try his luck at being a teacher with i-to-i and chose Hanoi, Vietnam as his destination of choice. A three-month volunteer program, teaching in a secondary school in Hanoi, turned into Paul falling in love with the Vietnamese way of life. After i-to-i’s program finished he was given the opportunity to work full-time in a language school and due to his interest in language, he also decided to study and learn Vietnamese. Six years later, Paul still resides in Vietnam where he lives with his wife and family.

Why did you decide to get TEFL certified through i-to-i TEFL?

I decided to get TEFL-certified through i-to-i because I felt that I needed to “test the waters” so to speak. At that time, I did not know if teaching was the right thing for me and a full time intensive course was going to be no good if I only taught for about 3 months. i-to-i’s courses seemed to be full of the right knowledge and teaching techniques and had many different types of courses (that were short but packed full of the skills needed in order to survive your first time teaching abroad). When I first contacted i-to-i in 2005, I initially just wanted a unique travel experience with their volunteer programs, but then soon discovered their TEFL courses. Their skill and knowledge (and the patience to answer my many questions) were fantastic and it was a great stepping-stone into the life I have now.

What made this online TEFL experience unique and special?

At first I was a little skeptical due to the fact that courses seemed much too short and I kept comparing them to other TEFL courses. I was also worried whether the course would be internationally recognized in the locations where I wanted to teach. Regarding the first problem, i-to-i was great in explaining the differences between programs. Although the courses were short and could cover aspects of practical teaching skills in just a weekend, the i-to-i courses were packed full of the necessary skills and teaching know-how’s that I needed for my first venture into teaching. The courses are great as they give you the time to absorb all the skills and theories behind teaching. Taking you through the material step-by-step, the tutors, who were very helpful, were always there to provide further explanations and give you sound advice.

How has this experience impacted your future? (Personally, professionally, etc)

After my first teaching post in Hanoi, Vietnam with a secondary school called Binh Minh School (Sunrise School) in 2007, I traveled for a while and I returned to Hanoi to work full-time at a language center in the center of the city. I was swamped with offers from other schools too as English classes are growing in popularity in Vietnam and much of Southeast Asia. One thing I noticed is that many employers were thankful I had teaching qualifications, which were of course thanks to my i-to-i training. This greatly impressed the employers and put me in a good position to negotiate the terms and gave me great confidence in answering their questions about the methodology of teaching a foreign language (which they will ask you to test your teaching abilities).

I have grown professionally in that since that first teaching post in 2007; I have gone on to teach all levels of the English Language from beginner levels to advanced levels, taught business English for many high-profile companies, and trained students for the TOEIC (Test of English in Communication). From there, I have taught IELTS (International English Language Testing System) given to students around the world who need to apply for university placements in English speaking countries.

Happiness? Well I love it out here in Hanoi, Vietnam. I have a great job that I love everyday, a good life and most importantly, the first person I ever met in Hanoi became my soul mate! We dated for three years before getting married in 2011. We are happily married and enjoy every second together. I thank i-to-I, as they gave me a foot in the door to true happiness.

What is one piece of advice you would offer someone considering an online TEFL course?

Life has its up’s and down’s; if you feel lost or scared (like I was) to take a leap into unknown worlds, then at least have a back-up to help you along the way. Mine was the i-to-i TEFL course, which helped greatly in giving me the confidence to stand in front of a class full of students and deliver quality English lessons. Teachers around you will really appreciate your skills and effort. Employers will recognize your knowledge and skill on the subject. As always, one thing will always lead to another and many great things may happen, new people will be met and you will feel like the world is your oyster. Don’t worry about the “if’s and but’s” -- they are what make the journey and experience that much better. You never know where it all may lead.

James Jenkin completed a degree in Russian Language, and first worked as a Russian teacher and author of Russian language materials. After completing a Cambridge CELTA qualification, he taught English as a Foreign Language in Australia, China and Vietnam. Later he held management roles in a number of language centers including RMIT University, Monash University and Holmes Institute. James spent 15 years working alongside i-to-i ; first involved in teacher training, then as a CELTA and i-to-i tutor, and finally as i-to-i's Academic Director.

What position do you hold at i-to-i TEFL? What has been your career path so far?

James: I'm Academic Director at i-to-i TEFL. I started off as a Russian teacher in Australia, but then heard about this amazing opportunity to travel and teach English. For the last 15 years I've been a teacher trainer, which is my absolute love, as I get to witness TEFL changing people's lives.

Did you work abroad? If so, where and what inspired you to go?

James: I worked in Vietnam and China for many years and taught oil engineers, government officials and airline pilots - just typical opportunities in the TEFL world. I first went because working on an oil rig with Vietnamese and Russians sounded interesting!

What does the future hold for i-to-i TEFL - any exciting new projects to share?

James: i-to-i have always been the innovators in the industry, with the first weekend intensive TEFL course, and the first online TEFL course. And we plan to stay the innovators, with several revolutionary new training products to be revealed shortly! But no matter how we deliver our programs, or what technology we use, our goal is always to make teachers confident and skilled, and ensure they get the best TEFL positions worldwide.

What about the future of the teach abroad industry? How do you think international education will change over the next 10 years?

James: The number of people learning English worldwide will continue to grow like crazy - two billion by the end of the decade! Changes? Teaching young learners, especially pre-school, is booming across Asia. If you love children, there are countless opportunities, and you can make a good living from it. Also demand for English in South-East Asia is huge and growing, as the ASEAN Economic Community - with English as the one official language - is being fully implemented in 2015.

Which teach abroad destination is most underrated? Conversely, which is most overrated?

James: I think people underrate destinations that aren't so physically attractive - but teaching is such a meaningful vocation, anywhere brings incredible rewards. Also, working somewhere 'undiscovered' by tourists makes you a pioneer. I don't think there is a most overrated. Teaching English is always a life-changing career choice.
