Volunteer in Cambodia - Public Health Training Service-Learning Program
- Cambodia
About Program
Global Service Corps (GSC), in partnership with local organizations, offers a unique way to experience Cambodia through its two-week, short-term, long-term, and internship programs.
Volunteers on the Public Health Training Program will be given an inside look into the realities of the public health needs in rural Cambodian communities and will assist in providing critical public health education to families and youth, as well as provide support for other social and health services. Volunteers will work alongside a local organization who provides much needed healthcare services in mostly rural provinces around Cambodia.
Specific involvement can vary based on the needs at the time of placement, but programs may consist of assisting nurses in the local clinic with basic first aid care, making case visits to families, conducting community health surveys, and leading health workshops on subjects including hygiene and sanitation, nutrition, HIV/AIDS prevention, family planning and pregnancy care, domestic violence, and breast and cervical cancer.
