About Program

Volunteers are critical to improving the lives of children in Ghana. On a daily basis youth from the Northern part of Ghana travel down south to Accra seeking for greener pastures. When they arrive, they end up giving birth on the streets. Due to financial constraints, they are unable to take these kids to school and the kids end up roaming the streets during school hours.

The street children education projects provide a secure and serene environment for these kids to learn while their parents are in the market working. This project is open all year round. Volunteers will be teaching the kids Math, English, Science and Arts.

Consider your impact: Volunteering abroad can be a rewarding experience for both volunteers and local communities, and at Go Overseas, we believe all volunteers should have the resources to make informed decisions about the type of volunteer project they want to partake in. However, despite best intentions, some organizations offering placements in orphanages may unknowingly place children in danger. You can read about the potential dangers of orphanage volunteering here.

Wonderful experience

I would say VSID is a very great agency to volunteer with. They took care of my every need from start to finish and was always there to help me when I needed it. The projects have also though me a lot about life. The kids are very lovely and cute to work with. Living with a host family was also very wonderful. I got to live like a Ghanaian and had the chance to experience the interesting Ghanaian culture. I totally recommend them to anyone who wants to volunteer.
