The main activities of our team are maintaining hiking trails in the Thórsmörk area, trail mapping, survey work, and GPS data collection. We are also involved in a special erosion repair project in badly damaged areas close to the fresh lava from the 2010 Eyjafjallajökull eruption.
On our 6-week placements, the project combines practical conservation work in one of the most beautiful parts of Iceland with an opportunity to complete the famous 4-day Laugavegur hiking trail from Landmannalaugar to Thórsmörk. These placements are an opportunity to get to know this amazing area and play an important role in helping to protect it.
Come visit this pristinely beautiful part of the world while learning about geology and erosion!
