About Program

All Hands and Hearts provides community-inspired, volunteer-powered disaster relief.

With the frequency and intensity of disasters on the rise around the globe, there's an urgent need for a more thoughtful approach to how we respond and help impacted communities recover. When a disaster strikes, All Hands and Hearts arrives early and stays late to address vulnerable communities' immediate and long-term needs. We work alongside the local leaders and deploy our unique volunteer model to enable direct impact — helping families and communities recover by building safe, resilient schools, homes and other community infrastructure.

Thanks to our community of passionate volunteers, donors and partners, we've provided 20 years of disaster relief support to over 1.4 million people.

South Carolina Recovery was awesome!

The staff on the South Carolina Project were so welcoming! We were living in the community we worked in and you could see a real need among the homeowners. I loved seeing the progress of rebuild in a home and the Site Supervisors were always so patient to train me if I needed help. I wish I had more time but I am going to try and come back this summer!!! I loved the communal living environment, we are all working and living in the same space. People always want to hang out after work and you really get close with people fast. I was not expecting to walk away with such great friends after 3 weeks on project.

Best of luck to everyone out there, keep up the great work.

All Hands Malawi

All Hands is a great organization with a great mission. They work very closely with the community to assess the immediate needs. We were building wells for farmers who lost everything in the floods. It is communal living and after working all day we all get to spend time together and get to know each other. I will definitely check out another All Hands project in the future

Life Changing!

I learned about All Hands thru a friend. It was unexpected and it was my first time to volunteer. I was able to help build homes and boats. You don't need to be an expert because I surely wasn't, but the experts taught me how to. The feeling of being able to meet the beneficiaries and hear their stories is amazing. I also had the opportunity to meet different kinds of people from all over the world. They were awesome! All Hands is the perfect organization if you're into the social scene and getting down and dirty when building things.

They make history!

I met my family a year ago.I had to leave. A month ago I had to return. Couldn't stop thinking about it. These are the days. We work hard during the day,we meet a family everyday to whom we are building a house. We cry with them when we handover the finished house. We build houses! How amazing is that?! I made friends for life, and Im still learning with my new friends.
We make history. All hands wrote my history.

What would you improve about this program?
I would have more 50 volunteers in here. We would build houses faster.

Vonteering with All Hands was the most rewarding thing I have ever done. I learned an abundance of new skills and met the most incredible people. The organisation have a fantastic relationship with the community in Tacloban and I really felt welcomed and like I was having a significant positive impact on the lives of those affected by the typhoon.
