This is an exciting opportunity to volunteer in a children's community in Kaluga Region, Russia. Kitezh Children's Community is a rural village community of foster parents and teachers who take children from orphanages and raise them with their own children. The purpose of the community is focussed entirely on being a child-centric, therapeutic education community.
All volunteers get to live with a family in the family's house as well as teach English to children and take part in the daily working and social life of the community. Some of these activities include gardening, cooking, building, playing games, art & crafts, music, drama, sport with the kids. Perhaps you have a particular skill that might be of benefit to the community (not a requirement)?
This is a wonderful opportunity to experience real Russian culture and make a difference to the lives of children who had a bad start in life.
Consider your impact: Volunteering abroad can be a rewarding experience for both volunteers and local communities, and at Go Overseas, we believe all volunteers should have the resources to make informed decisions about the type of volunteer project they want to partake in.
