About Program
Eco2 Diving offers a small-scale, hands-on coral reef restoration program in Mikindani, southern Tanzania, focused on personal involvement and field-based marine conservation.
The program is open to everyone, including non-divers, with close supervision, proper training, and progressive skill development throughout the experience.
Based at an active PADI and SSI dive resort, volunteers combine scuba diving with real fieldwork such as coral nurseries, reef rehabilitation, underwater monitoring, and data collection. Education is central to the program, covering reef ecology, marine conservation principles, restoration methods, and responsible diving practices. Activities take place both underwater and on land, creating a meaningful and well-rounded conservation experience for each volunteer.
The project remains intentionally personal and impact-driven, as an alternative to mass volunteerism.

Impact 🌎
Sustainability
We aim to minimize the environmental footprint of our operations while actively contributing to marine conservation through reef restoration, responsible diving, and community-based initiatives.
Sustainability, for us, means ensuring that our activities create lasting benefits without compromising the ecosystems we depend on.
Ethical Impact
Activities are carefully balanced to ensure they support marine ecosystems and local communities without creating dependency or unnecessary pressure.
Ethical impact, for us, means acting responsibly today while preserving the integrity of the environment and community for the future.
Program Impact
+ Direct Reef Impact
Volunteers actively contribute to coral reef restoration through coral nurseries, coral planting, and underwater structure installation. This hands-on work directly supports the regeneration of reefs damaged by destructive fishing practices, helping restore habitat complexity and marine biodiversity.
+ Community-Based Conservation
Working side by side with local staff and community members, volunteers take part in real field-based conservation activities both underwater and on land. Through shared work, education, and knowledge exchange, the project strengthens local understanding of reef threats and fosters long-term stewardship of marine ecosystems.
+ Be the Change Yourself
Beyond fieldwork, the program promotes a lifestyle compatible with marine conservation. Through education, training, and hands-on experience, volunteers develop lasting awareness, skills, and responsible habits that continue to influence how they dive, travel, and interact with the ocean long after they leave.
