Spending three months volunteering in Southeast Asia at 25 was honestly one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I wanted something meaningful something that would push me a bit and it ended up being far more impactful than I expected.

From day one, I felt completely welcomed. The communities I worked with were incredibly kind and open, and it never felt like I was just “passing through.” The projects themselves were genuinely rewarding too. I got involved in a mix of community support and environmental work, and it felt good knowing that what I was doing actually contributed to something positive, even in a small way.

What really made the experience stand out was how much I learned. It wasn’t just about volunteering it was about understanding different cultures, adapting to a new way of life, and seeing things from a completely different perspective. It definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone, but in the best possible way. I came away more confident, more aware, and a lot more grateful.

The people I met were a huge part of it as well. I made some amazing friends both locals and other volunteers and those connections made the whole experience even more special.

Looking back, those three months flew by, but they’ve stayed with me in a big way. If you’re even slightly considering volunteering in Southeast Asia, I’d say go for it. It’s not just a trip it’s something that genuinely changes you. And the balance was perfect too your evenings and weekends are free, so you get the chance to road trip, island hop, and really experience everything the region has to offer in your own way.

Tru Experience are everything they say they are, I can not believe I got every thing I expected and even more from such a trip. I was so nervous about booking the trip as I had not heard of Tru Experience Travel before. But they were absolutely amazing from the start to finish of my trip.
I will certainly be booking many more of my cultural trips with Tru Experience, Everything was so overwhelmingly incredible, If you wish to travel and volunteer abroad I highly recommend this organisation.

I loved this trip! it was the best thing I decided to do. I went alone and meet 30 people on this tour with me. I had so much fun and laughs and my memories are unreal from the experience. One of the tour guides was absolutely amazing and couldn't be more helpful or do more however the other guide was there just to party and do it her way. they knew nothing about the locations, go to drunk when no one else was and went off on her own to please her when it was free days. I would recommend the trip but we missed a lot of things which were in the trip itinerary.

hmmmmmmmm I ate street food and never got sick! I don't know about unique stories, but I am unique. I could tell you hundreds of stories about Thailand, but the main point of the story will always be I had a life-changing experience and I'm so thankful I was able to have this opportunity.

When i was in Thailand on the project, we tool a weekend off to explore on the weekend, on one of the beaches, When i first got shown to my hut, it was in the cliff face, as the man is climbing up the rocks with my suitcase, i am following behind in my flip flops. He looks back for me and i said im fine im keeping up.... I lost my footing and fell down the cliff onto the beach. It wasn't funny at the time but i can now look back and laugh. I swapped my cliff face hut to a safer beach hut.
