About Program

Based on the stunning Pacific coast and led by our in-country staff, the Gapforce Costa Rica Marine Adventure is fully packed with skills and fun. With no time to waste, you will get full survival and marine conservation training, as well as three internationally recognised PADI qualifications. From here, we head on to volunteer at our Sea Turtle conservation project!

Putting your training into practice, you will make a real impact protecting the sea turtle population on a vital, long-term conservation project. Your hands-on duties will include the rescue, rehabilitation and release of turtles using our patrol boat, whilst also assisting on the reforestation of mangroves.

This tropical adventure will have you meeting like-minded volunteers and swimming with sharks, rays, whales & turtles!

This program is currently not being promoted on Go Overseas by its provider. Check with Gapforce for the most up-to-date information regarding the status of this program.

An excellent trip, really worthwhile!

This was an incredible trip for me, and allowed me to experience lots of things that I’ve never had the opportunity or confidence to do before. The expedition leader Tom was very useful to have around, and having him made my first travelling experience much less stressful, especially as my Spanish is terrible. He did an amazing job of dealing with challenging and changing local and group circumstances and really made the experience what it was.
The diving instruction I received at Oceans Unlimited was unparalleled, and has provided me skills and qualifications I hope to continue using for years.
I would absolutely recommend this trip, especially to anyone looking for an authentic experience of Costa Rica and travelling.

What would you improve about this program?
There were some small communication issues with the uk based team to begin with, however with some perseverance on my part they were very useful and accommodating

Valuable and fun experience

Had a great time with my instructor and met some interesting people, I believe the communication between Gapforce and my instructor could have been better and I did feel like I somewhat missed out on one aspect of my diving because not all parties were made aware of me already having my open water (which Gapforce was made aware) and being scheduled to get my open water as opposed to my advanced open water

What would you improve about this program?
Better communication between Gapforce and instructors. My instructor Tom Poulter however did an excellent job with the provisions provided to him and personally I feel we got on quite well
