AIFS Abroad: Intern Abroad in Australia

I had the best Summer ever interning abroad in Sydney! I absolutely loved my internship, met so many amazing people, and learned so much! The group I met abroad were an amazing and fun group of people. We had a blast at our excursions, and got to do some amazing traveling while in Australia! For being on the other side of the world, it really isn't so different from the US so I never experienced any culture shock along the way. Over all I had a 10/10 unforgettable experience making life-long friends and connections while also feeling much more prepared for my career. What are you waiting for - apply now!

Loved the culture here, learned so much from my internship, met so many good friends and decide to stay longer. I was really pushed out of my comfort zone and was forced to meet a lot of new people. I have gone to a lot of amazing events around sudney for my internship and had great support from the GE staff. I would recommend this program to anyone especially if you are trying to gain real working experience. It was truly a unique experience.

Traveling half way around the world to Australia by myself was scary and exciting all at the same time. I could not have picked a better location let alone trip to do for my internship. I had little expectations coming into my internship because it was mainly focusing on my minor (marketing) and not my major (exercise science). I discussed this with the coordinator, Andrea, and she gave me so great advice. My boss for the internship was also very supportive and very willing to let me do what I needed to do. We communicated very well and in the end this internship exceeded my expectations. I was able to complete the exercise science portion while learning about marketing. Give your internship a chance, communicate with everyone and live it up because Australia is incredible, my favorite country I have lived in. Say yes to everything because it is a once in a life time experience, save save save (very expensive here) and figure out public transportation right away because Uber's are insane and they really add up. I love Sydney and I cant wait to come back and visit. Global experiences made this happen and I am very grateful! I learned alot not only about exercise science and marketing but about myself too and who I want to be as a person.

I did an internship in Sydney. This was my first internship I've ever done I chose to do an internship in the finance field. Going into this internship i had no expectations because i wanted to gain experience and bring it back home hoping to find a career in the finance sector. This internship was better than i expected. Work was fun, Housing was close to public transport and close to the city, program advisor was very helpful and checked up on you to make sure everything was alright. Overall, this internship blew my mind and would recommend this to anyone in school or even looking to gain experience in a field they are interested in.

Global Experiences is absolutely amazing and I am so grateful I had the opportunity to come to Sydney. I have traveled a lot with my family and visited dozens of cities, but I have never loved a place as such as I love Sydney. I felt comfortable from the moment I arrived and Andrea (our program director) was so welcoming and she became like my overseas "mom." I am only 19 years old and am taking a gap year before college, so I applied for a Global Experience internship to gain a sense of independence and have a better understanding of what it is like to live without my parents and attend a job each day. I was paired with a fantastic internship and I really learned what it was like to be a part of the "working world" rather than just attend classes at school. I am so grateful for the opportunity I had with Global and I came home with a much greater understanding of who I am as a person and felt that I really grew from this experience. The housing was safe and we had our own kitchen / washer & dryer which was great. I loved my roommates and I know we will keep in touch even when we are all back in the U.S.

Global Experiences did not fail to live up to my expectations. The housing was in a great location. Staff, especially our on site coordinator Kiri, was incredibly helpful when needed. Safety was always their number one priority and they made that clear from the beginning. The social events hosted by GE were a lot of fun and worth the trips.

At first I was a bit hesitant with my placement, but I went in with an open mind (as everyone should). After the first week I feel in love with my internship. My bosses were aware that I was planning on staying in Sydney for a couple more months and they ended up offering me a paid part time position which I gladly accepted. My internship has changed the way I view my life and has helped me develop both professionally and socially. I will be forever grateful that Global Experiences placed me with CLAN.

I came into the program with a one way ticket knowing that I would not be returning to the states immediately after my two months were up. That being said, Kiri (our onsite coordinator) was extremely helpful in steering me in the right direction in finding housing and jobs. After looking for housing in Sydney I was able to realize that the cost of the program was reasonable. Sydney is an incredibly expensive city to live in. The apartment Global Experiences placed us in was in a quiet and calm neighbourhood within walking distance to major bus stops, the light rail, supermarkets, and shops. I never felt unsafe walking alone, even at night. The apartment was a great size with a washer and dryer in the unit, making laundry day wicked convenient. I would say that the apartment was in a perfect location!

Overall, I would recommend Global Experiences to anyone and everyone looking for a unique international experience. It was an amazing opportunity and a great way to step out of your comfort zone. Some words of advice: Always remember to go into things with an open mind and view every opportunity as a chance to learn! I would recommend saving lots before coming here and make sure you convert cash before arriving (I found that they charge less in America)! Sydney is an expensive city (nightlife is wicked expensive as well).

I had such a wonderful experience here in Australia! Being a marine science major and trying to start the next chapter of my life after graduation, I found that my placement was perfect for me. I worked with great people from all areas of the world and got to complete hands on tasks that gave me the experience I needed to decide my future. Not only was the placement a perfect fit, I was able to explore the city and other areas with my time off. Using Global Experiences allowed me to jump right into my work without the hassle of trying to find a place to live. My coordinator, Kiri, helped me with anything that I needed which led me to spending even more time in Australia after my internship was over.

Interning in Sydney was the best experience I've ever had. Global Experiences was extremely helpful in the time leading up to to leaving, during, and after my time abroad. This program allows you to be completely independent, while feeling supported during every step of the process. I felt fully immersed into the Australian culture, making both personal and professional relationships I will always cherish. Global Experiences placed me at an incredible company, which has already opened many doors for my career.
