Milan Summer Fun

Milan The staff was incredible. The on site coordinators, Amanda and Antonella, we’re amazing. They did anything and everything in their power to make our experiences better. They were always responsive and genuinely cared about each and every one of us in the program. I will say the housing in Milan is a little tough because they’re just isn’t a lot available but they did everything they could to make us as comfortable as possible and get us the best accommodations. Amanda and Antonella were awesome but I think a third person to help out would be even better. There were a lot of students to handle and it was a huge on for just two people.

Pros
  • Incredible Food
  • Awesome Night Life
  • A lot of great vintage shopping
Cons
  • Didn’t have air conditioning in my first housing situation
  • Internship wasn’t as tailored to my interests and they said it would be
  • It was just super insanely hot in Milan

Milan!

My time in Milan was amazing. Global experiences is a bit disorganized, some students were sent home because they were not placed in internships, so that was really sad. Fortunately i did get placed, i had a great time at my job. Despite the drawbacks of global experiences as a whole, my program site coordinators were great. Antonella and Amanda were always helpful, kind, and planned events that allowed us to see and experience the staples in italy. They were awesome and really great resources when in Milan

Cons
  • Disorganized

Great Experience

This was a great program. I was able to work in a fashion showroom with friendly and welcoming coworkers, and I was able to immersed in Italian culture. My program coordinators Amanda and Antonella did a great job at supporting us and giving us guidance the entire time, and I appreciated all the events they had planned for us to mingle as a community. This was my first time abroad and I couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out! I was able to travel outside of the host city often and it fit perfectly with my work schedule

I loved this program!

This experience was definitely one of a kind! I was given great experience for my specific major(s) and felt very at home! Our program supervisors, Amanda and Antonella we’re very helpful, kind and did so much to make us feel comfortable and safe. It was quite confusing in the beginning because we only received a couple of emails right before our departure and many internships were not confirmed until we arrived. I would still highly recommend coming in this program if you are interested in fashion marketing!

Pros
  • Amazing food
  • Gained great design skills
  • Beach is close
Cons
  • Confusing in the beginning (little help)
  • Bus schedule being off all the time
  • Hot

Design Internship Milan

Our program coordinators, Amanda and Antonella, went out of their way to make sure that we enjoyed all of the sights Milan and the surrounding area had to offer. They planned a lot of fun excursions for us (Lake Como, Verona, Armani Silos, etc) and were always happy to answer questions for us if we wanted to travel on our own. I would highly recommend Milan and the surrounding area of Northern Italy to anyone looking to work or even just travel around Europe! There is so much to do and a lot of great variety, you won't get bored.

Amazing time in Milan

Being in Milan this summer was truly one of the most amazing experiences I have ever had. I was able to try so many new things in Milan and see so many amazing parts of the city and of Italy because of the events the program planned for us. Each even was a great time and was even better to be surrounded by friends from the program. I would truly recommend this experience to any all students looking to expand their travels and they’re world view. The culture in Italy is vibrant, the people are welcoming and this program ensures you have safe and helpful travels along the way.

Events planned by location coordinators

My location coordinators Amanda and Anotella planned tons of fun events for us all during our internship program. I did not go to all of the events because my sister and I wanted to do some of our own travel on weekends but we attended the following events: a couple of drinks and apertivo nights, the designer outdoor outlet mall, the Armani museum, and Lake Como! They also planned a trip to Verona and my friends in the program that went said it was amazing. We were sad we missed out, but already had travel plans. All of the events were stress-free since Amanda and Anotella managed everything with the events. We just had to show up! I am very satisfied with the events they planned and thought they were a lot of fun and a good way to get to know other kids in the program.

No, I don't recommend this program

terrible

not good. this was their first year doing the program in rome but it still shouldn't be this bad. half of the people that came did not have an internship even 2 weeks into the program. ge was scrambling to find them interviews and found a few okay ones but most of them were bad. many people just got a full refund and quit the program. our internship coordinator was not helpful and pretty rude. i got an internship a few weeks before leaving and i am working there now. not much better for me because i have to go in for a 40 hour week and have close to nothing to do but they refuse to let me go home. i've asked for more to do and they have nothing. i emailed the internship coordinator and she's conveniently on vacation. had to email and call many others just for them to say that i have to still come in for the whole week. i. have. nothing. to. do. this job requires max 2 days. i emailed my school coordinator and am waiting to see if i can do part time. it simply doesnt make sense why they are forcing me to work a 40 hour week when i just come into the office (one hour commute each ways btw) to sit there and be bored.

the housing is okay, pretty far from the center and small but cute. some people got awful housing and had to switch multiple times so i guess we got lucky.

the only reason why i'm having a good time is because of the people and the fact that we are in rome. ge has done basically nothing beneficial.

moral of the story, dont do it. if you really want to, go somewhere that they have a more established thing in place so you're not the guinea pigs like we all were.

Pros
  • a few free aperitivos
Cons
  • bad internship
  • poor management
  • not worth the cost
