Great experience in the cloud forest

My time interning with CDS was amazing. The directors and entire staff here are so helpful and passionate about the projects they do! They are working to rehabilitate the property to restore its natural wetlands and put nutrients back into the soil. The site is becoming more and more sustainable everyday with a hydroelectric system, solar water heating in process, dry toilets, many gardens, composts and many creative uses of recycled materials around the property. This program is very community based and it was so fun to work with people from all over the world. For most of my month interning here I think we had people from 9 different countries! You camp and eat with everyone so the community here is really great. You are also in the high Amazon jungle so it is gorgeous and there are hiking trails nearby. I felt very safe and at home here and learned so much! An awesome way to experience a non-touristy part of Peru and learn about sustainability and conservation in the cloud forest.
