AIFS MADRID

Great time with my host company and program coordinator, I am happy with the people I was assigned. I appreciate helphousing and Lourdes a lot, they made my experience worthwhile.

Only things that I wish were different were the small housing issues we had to deal with during the entire time here, but I appreciate all of the efforts of the staff to fix things as much as possible.

Internship Abroad in Spain

I really enjoyed my internship abroad through AIFS. I believe that it was a great experience and I got to meet so many amazing people. I recommend it to anyone who wants to dive into a new culture and also learn about what their passions may be! It may be scary to visit another country that you may or may not speak the language, but it opens your eyes to a lot of different things. It is also important to know that you are not alone and people will you meet along with people in the program will support you!

Pros
  • Make lots of friends
  • Practice a language

Global Experiences- Madrid International Internship

I had such a fun experience interning here in Madrid! There are so many things to do, and the people are very friendly. Madrid is also the capital of Spain, and as such there’s activities/ internship opportunities for all kinds of interests. It was also a great opportunity to work in a professional setting in another country, as well as practicing a secondary language ! In addition, our Global Experiences supervisor planned one event a week where we got to do different activities, and talk to other interns in the program as well.

Pros
  • Lots of things to do
  • People
  • Nightlife

Amazing Experience in Madrid

I spent two months here in Madrid, Spain living with 9 other individuals who all are doing internships just like myself. The AFIS program helped me so much throughout the entire process and allowed me to easily transition from my life back in the States to life in Madrid. AFIS provided me a great internship at HelpHousing and I learned so much from the people who were involved! Also as someone who’s Spanish is very subpar, I felt welcomed by everyone and they were very friendly and supportive to me learning their language!

Pros
  • Food
  • The people
  • Site Seeing
Cons
  • Late night life
  • I honestly
  • Don’t have many cons

Amazing program!! Awesome advisors and activities

I did the GE internship program in Madrid, Spain! The living situation was great, very central and close to a metro station. My roommates and I were matched well, I had a really helpful and personable program advisor, Lourdes who I could go to with questions and concerns. I was matched with a company I liked for my internship, and was given opportunities to get involved and learn from my supervisors The program had excursions and activities every week, and my work was flexible to my traveling plans on weekends. Great experience :)

Fantastic internhsip

Best internship I’ve ever had. I visited a lot of Spain it was great. The program did an overall great job planning fun activities for me to do, and places to visit. A great experience and would reccomend to all students who want to intern abroad, Madrid was a great city to live in. It Was a fun three months for me, a great experience. I learned a lot about myself. I learned a lot about Spanish culture. Could be a life changing experience for some people. I got to travel all over Spain and I enjoyed that very much. The internship was my favorite, I have interned at multiple companies in the US and this internship in Madrid has been the best in office experience yet.

Best internship experience!

I was matched with a marketing firm for local and touring theatre companies and I fell in love with the welcoming atmosphere everyone in the office shared with me, and I have my local coordinator for finding me that perfect match. I got to work with big Spanish stars, help at premieres, edit a regional magazine, and manage website and social media posts. I grew so much in areas I didn’t even know I had the potential to learn, and gained so much experience that I know I will use in any job I apply for. My internship was amazing, and the social outings were fun!
It is not too easy living with strangers, but having a room to ourselves helped to keep some boundaries needed, and further enjoy the times we did spend together for program sanctioned events and for anything we planned on our own. I loved being able to visit other places and cities during the weekends when I didn’t work. I have learned from different cultures, and appreciate traveling so much more than I ever thought I could. I had a phenomenal experience and would highly recommend everyone to do an internship abroad.

Pros
  • amazing internship
  • more travel opportunities
  • culture based experiences
Cons
  • roommate problems
