What a great adventure, thank you Meiji Internships.

I interned for about 2 months, in Taipei. I learned so many things and got to know many nice people! When I started, I didn't know that much about marketing, but now I feel like a different person thanks to all the knowledge I have gained. They taught me how to write good blog articles and how to promote a business through social media. I felt lucky to be there and relieved that Meiji Internships organized the whole trip with me.
Taiwan is an interesting country. Taipei is modern with lots of people but still, you can feel the authentic atmosphere. 2 months was a good length for experiencing life in Taiwan, but I would have been happy to stay longer!

Amazing trip to Taiwan

This internship in Taiwan was an intense and valuable experience that I will always remember!
Everyone at the company was eager to pass on their knowledge and to collaborate with me. I started by doing easy tasks and ended up managing bigger projects. The work experience that I got from this internship is huge!
I didn't know a lot about Taiwan before going (I wanted to intern there because my girlfriend is spending a semester in Taiwan as well :p), but the Taiwanese people are so happy to share their culture, they sometimes invited me for dinner to share their favorite traditional food, or recommended the most beautiful spots of the city. I started my internship without knowing the language but I quickly realized that it would be better to take advantage of the situation and try to learn Chinese. So that's what I did and now I'm satisfied to have some basic Chinese knowledge on top of all I have learned at work!

A wonderful discovery

I was looking for a place to do my internship that would be a bit challenging. So I was choosing random places on Google maps and doing some research on them... when I found Taiwan. At first, I was like "What is this tiny country? I don't think there's a lot to do there." But when I googled it and found all the scenic pictures, the food culture, it's history... I knew it was the place I was looking for!! Then I discovered that Meiji Internships was offering this destination, I applied for it, and the adventure began! My Chinese level was probably around... zero lol so they found me an internship in an English environment, the interview went well, I could speak directly with the CEO of the company and since the very beginning, there was a very good feeling so I decided to go for it when they offered me the internship!
The staff from Meiji Internships made an amazing job finding me a place to stay, organizing gatherings with the other interns in Taipei, etc. Even though I came alone, I made friends easily and I think it would have been hard to be completely alone in a foreign country. I mean, I went to eat outside with my co-workers, but sometimes I just needed to go out with friends and not work-related people, I don't know if I have made myself clear... Anyway Taiwan was a crazy country in terms of tourism. Jiufen was so beautiful, it was one of my favorite places! The area of Tamsui was also an incredible spot, it's outside Taipei but it's worth the trip!

Taiwan's nature and breathtaking sceneries

While interning in Taiwan, I was able to check a few things off my bucket list: Living abroad for at least 2 months and visiting the Yangmingshan National Park! I am passionate about nature, volcanos and Asian culture so there are a few places in Asia I want to visit someday. The Yangmingshan National Park was one of them! I really recommend you to go, it's like 1 hour from Taipei, and you can find hot springs and fumaroles thanks to the volcanic activity. The nature is splendid and entering the hot springs feels so goooood! It was like a paradise on Earth!
Of course, my main reason for going to Taiwan was the internship: my field was film and photography. In my case, it was more about filming and editing and I felt so lucky to learn so many things from professionals. I would like to find my own style in video editing and I think this experience has helped me tremendously in that way!

Learning about business

I did my internship in the field of business development in Taiwan. The reason I did this internship is for school. I'm studying International Business at University, and we have to experience work in a company in order to graduate. I could have found something in my own country, but I've always been curious about Asia, and I have Asian roots so I wanted to know more about the culture. Of course, it was a wonderful experience! I could learn a lot about business and how to grow a company. During the first 2 weeks, they taught me all I had to know, and it was a bit hard to follow because I had to remember lots of information. But then I got used to it, and I could start doing things on my own!
I was surprised because I've heard before that Asian people have difficulties with English, but in fact, in this company, I could speak English with almost everyone. There were also two European guys who helped me a lot to get comfortable in the beginning, but there wasn't any problem with talking with the others as well.
Other than that, I was able to travel during the weekends, and Taiwan landscapes are so beautiful!

Marketing Internship

If you want to work in a friendly and respectful environment in Kaohsiung, trust Meiji. They will help you find what you are looking for!

I passed two months with my company and I regret nothing. Most times I worked in the marketing department of my company. I wrote a lot of articles, helped optimise the website, edited pictures and shot videos for youtube. I also helped with a big project with a French company. I was the only person in the office who knew French and it left a great impression on the clients. We came up with fantastic results in collaboration with this company and I am very proud of our achievements. To help you on your tasks, the staff will be here to guide you. With two days off, I was able to discover Kaohsiung and the surrounding.

Even after the work, it was a pleasure to share some special moments with colleagues, the Meiji team and other interns. A big thank you to all of them. Sadly, I could not say goodbye to everyone so I use that review to say “Au revoir“ to those I hadn’t saw the say of my departure!

Concerning Kaohsiung, it is one of the most important city of the island. It is amazing and my company and apartment could not have a better location. Take a 10 minutes walk and you can know many places of interest like 85 Sky Tower, Exhibition Centre, National Public Library and more. There was a small night market in front of my shared accommodation and many shops where you could buy anything you need 24/7.
I had an incredible time and feel comfortable recommending Meiji to others. Contact me if you have any questions!

Unique chance!

Hi! I'm Illaria, I'm 23 and I come from Genova (Italy). I spent 3 months in Taiwan, and.. wow! Best time ever! My internship placement was amazing. It was exactly what I was looking for and needed for my uni credit! The staff are so great and so knowledgeable. I loved my tasks and never felt bored. My colleagues were always there to help me if I had any problem. We often went out for lunch which helped us grow closer as a team. At the events which Meiji organised I had lots of fun. I enjoyed Taiwan and met many people. Meiji is also cheaper than other providers, that is why I chose them in the first place. But their service is unparalleled, they are awesome. Thanks a lot fellow Meijis, staff, interns, my colleagues, people I met during events, everyone. I will miss you all!

Taiwan ftw!

This program is great! I loved getting to know life in Taiwan, the other interns, work ethics, and locals. Everything was a 10 for me: my company, the people I met, my
accommodation, the activities, and the food (Hot Pot, srsly try it!). My internship was in Product Management. I spent my first 2 weeks helping with translations, working on the website and attended client meetings. Then, I joined the product idea team and worked on new concepts and marketing with them. My experiences allowed me to explore new ideas and expand my professional skill set. In addition to the professional side of Meiji, I was lucky enough to join many fun activities that let me travel all around Taiwan. Interning abroad was the best way I could have spent my summer!
