Cultural Experiences You Have To Try When You're There

It’s been more than a year since I moved to Taiwan, and I still can’t believe that I ended up here in Asia! It’s amazing how life works out sometimes, isn’t it? My journey with the study abroad program at my university started out with me simply wanting to study Chinese. Then I found out about the internship opportunity, and it was so exciting to discover that I could do an internship abroad while getting credit towards my degree! My experience was simply amazing, and if you have the chance to intern abroad, don’t pass it up!

I also Immerse yourself in Taiwanese night markets (they're not just for tourists!) In Taiwan, everyone loves to eat out at night. Night markets are scattered all over Taichung, offering cheap food and drinks by day but taking on a more boisterous atmosphere when evening falls. My favorite was Raohe Street Night Market (pictured above), a collection of street-side shops selling hotpot and stinky tofu by day that transform into bars by night! I also recommend Hualien Night Market, where you can watch live performances of traditional music or even try your hand at playing it yourself!
