Internship in the land of smiles

My internship with Meiji in Thailand took place a few months ago during the start of the summer. I had the most amazing journey in the land of Smiles meeting new friends, colleagues, and experiencing a whole new diverse culture. I felt that I struck a great balance between work and play, and I was able to get stuck into some really great projects.

The company covered a few different functions, but my position was mainly in the department of customer liaison. We were providing customised tours to tourists throughout Thailand, which gave me a great opportunity to research and experience all the best aspects of the country. Appearing in the local newspaper was also an unexpected event, but a very welcome one.

Honestly it’s all thanks to Meiji for granting me this opportunity and making sure that I had the best possible time in both the professional side and leisurely side of things. I would recommend their services to anyone and everyone!

Remarkable!

My time in Thailand was truly an unbelievable experience. I did an exceptionally wonderful internship that taught me so much about the fashion industry in Asia.
I gained much knowledge and I feel like a different and more talented person now. There was never a time I felt unsure thanks to Meiji Internships' remarkable work. They organized amazing trips to places like Erawan National Park or Chiang Mai. I was constantly on the go to discover new places and live new adventures! I am thankful for the incredible friendships I created. Meiji Internships is a melting pot of different cultures and nationalities. Living in Asia was so cool and different from America, I was amazed and surprised by so many things.

Saying bye bye to the kid I was!

I have three big brothers, and I was tired of being the young one, the one who needed his mother's help in everything he wanted to do. That's the reason why I wanted to go abroad. I needed to prove to myself and to my family that I wasn't a kid anymore and to build my confidence as a young adult. I created 3D animation content for a company based in Bangkok. I wasn't working alone on this, of course, because this is a lot of work and I have been studying 3D animation only for one year at that time. I gained a lot of knowledge in my field and I feel so confident about it now.
When I came back, I wasn't the same person anymore. For two months I lived on my own, I cooked my own food (Well, to be honest, I often ate outside because the street food is so cheap and yummy!), I had responsibilities at work I was able to adapt to a new environment. Meiji internship helped a lot, but still, I am proud of myself :) and I think that my mum is proud too!

I had the best 6 weeks of my life

The few months before the internship was so long because I was looking forward to start my adventure so much. But before I realised it I was already there ! I am so glad that I took the time to write a travel journal. I only started from the second week so this is to bad that I don't have my arrival's story, but I still have my Instagram stories instead lol ! Volunteering was one of my life goals, and Thailand was the perfect place for that.
I am so grateful to have had this open-minding opportunity and to have met such fantastic people. It was truly a beautiful and wonderful time that I will cherish forever.

I will miss you, Thailand.

I wanted to find the internship on my own first, but I couldn't find it alone so I applied a bit late. But they found me a really nice company in Bangkok and my experience was fabulous.
I often met the other interns in Bangkok which made me feel like home. Everyone was from different countries and I loved our international meetings. The guys from the internship agency and the other interns recommended hangout spots and tips that were quite useful during my stay.
So, in the end, I had a very good experience in a beautiful country and I would love to do it again to discover other Asian countries and cultures!

Discovering Thailand's culture

I'm the kind of person who is doing an internship in a country where I don't speak the language! My work environment was all in English, but outside the company... it was a different story! I love being forced to communicate with body language. I only knew some basic words and it was enough to get people's attention. The staff from Meiji organized some events and invited me to eat dinner after work, so don't worry I was not completely alone in a foreign country!
My company was a startup in Bangkok where I did a design internship. I was mostly working on illustrator and photoshop with a woman who was in charge of marketing. It was a valuable experience that I will remember my whole life!

Interning in Thailand

During my Internship in Thailand, I was mostly doing PR and Marketing work. I am not majoring in marketing but I wanted to get different bits of knowledge and become more polyvalent. I am also doing video filming and editing on my personal Youtube channel and my host company asked me to edit some video for their own YT channel. It was a good chance for me to edit another kind of content and get some constructive feedback.
Thailand is a splendid country that I've always wanted to visit, so now this is done! I had a bit of a culture-shocks on arrival but I got used to it quite easily and enjoyed my stay so much!! Thank you, Thailand!

Time of my life!

It was the best time of my life yet haha! I was only here for three weeks but the teachers and the host family instantly made me feel at home! 11/10 would do again! I also met new friends from all around the world and we text everyday, still!
The experience helped me grow a lot and taught me many things which I can now apply within my field of work as well as in my university studies. You will most likely get to work with many people from all around the world and they are all eager to make sure you feel like part of the team. Going out together is lots of fun as well! Highly recommended!
