Naropa University seeks qualified applicants to fill the position of LeapYear Program Coordinator. This position will be responsible for coordination, and on-going oversight of the LeapYear program. This position has the opportunity to design and implement a place-based international itinerary (to either India/Nepal or Central America) that meets the curricular goals of LeapYear and aligns with Naropa University’s mission and values. The Program Coordinator will oversee and implement logistics and operations for field programming, intake processes for students, support for students/families while on program, guidance for group leaders in the field, international partnership development, and on-going communication with international sponsors, participants and families, and LeapYear staff. This position will establish the experiential framework through which LeapYear’s curriculum is delivered while implementing industry best practices for international education and gap year programming.

Specifically, the Program Coordinator will oversee all programmatic components of LeapYear, including:
· The first semester group travel in India/Nepal or Central America.
· The second semester 3-month international individual internships.
· Support for residential Learning Intensives that bracket each semester and serve to orient, integrate, and culminate the student experience.
· Both fall/spring and spring/summer two-semester programs.

This position must be prepared to provide on-call support for programs while in the field. Additionally, this position will serve as leadership staff for LeapYear’s residential Learning Intensives.

Program Description:
LeapYear is an alternative first or second year of college that combines the best of a gap year with contemplative education. Combining international experiential learning with a program of self-inquiry, LeapYear creates a "bridge year," incorporating learning intensives, international travel, independent internships, conscious community living, and rites of passage to support students’ conscious transition from high school to college and development from adolescence into adulthood.

Job Duties:
I. Program Development & Execution
Develop international travel itineraries, international partnerships, and experiential learning opportunities for the LeapYear program in alignment with curricular goals, specifically:
1. Plan and execute a detailed 11-week regional itinerary that supports LeapYear’s mission and vision.
2. Plan, coordinate, and execute the program budget, travel logistics, international airfares, and program partnership contracts.
3. Build, vet, and maintain relationships with LeapYear’s international sponsors/contacts.
4. Coordinate and create resources for group leaders to run the program in the field.
5. Provide on-call first-contact support for group leaders, partner organizations, students, and families while the program is in the field.
6. Support the assessment of safety and risk management systems for field experiences.
7. Execute program evaluation and assessment.
8. Oversee all logistics and arrangements for residential Learning Intensives
9. Teach up to 6 credits per year.

II. Student/Family Support:
Provide the first line of contact to support students and families before, during, and after their LeapYear; specifically:
1. Support students and families during intake and in preparation for the program.
2. Oversee and coordinate actions needed to meet students’ needs while on the program.
3. Communicate with families during the program, including providing program updates via email and social media.
4. Support development of alumni programming post-program.

III. Internship Support
Support the development of the LeapYear Individual Internship semester; specifically:
1. Collaborate with LeapYear’s internship coordinators to support students’ ideation of their internship during the first semester program.
2. Oversee programmatic components while students are on internship, including travel logistics, risk management, and on-call student support.
3. Support the evolving development of the Internship semester, including building and evaluating our database of potential internship sites and experiences

IV. General Program Support
1. Create and maintain a positive team environment and behave professionally with eveyeron
2. Provide general support to the LeapYear team for admissions, marketing, recruitment, staff training, and curriculum development.
3. Act as leadership staff for residential Learning Intensives (approx: 4-6 weeks/year).
4. Participate in emergency on-call phone rotation.
5. Conduct site visits as determined by programmatic need.
6. Create and maintain a positive team environment and behave professionally with everyone encountered in the course and scope of the job duties.
7. Complete additional program and university duties as assigned.
