Job Description
Established in 2008, Futuro Verde is a coeducational, nonprofit, international and bilingual International Baccalaureate World School that serves 218 students from preschool through 12th grade. We offer a rigorous and holistic learning environment, surrounded by the jungle in the rural area of Cóbano, Costa Rica.
We seek to hire an adventurous, highly qualified, enthusiastic and dedicated teacher to work with students and staff in the jungle of Costa Rica. Interest and / or experience in school settings that implement the IB program is mandatory.
The qualifications of a successful candidate:
Relevant work experience with children and adolescents in the classroom
International experience
Titles or certificates recognized in the country of origin in fields related to music education (a university degree is required, a master's degree is preferred)
Additional certifications are preferred in other areas (ESL, TEFOL, special education, technology, art, etc.)
Professional and recognized professional qualifications
Music training IB Category I, preferred
Minimum 2 years of teaching experience in a relevant position for this job
Skills needed:
Hard worker, passionate about teaching and learning
Able to work independently, but also to collaborate effectively with colleagues
Adventurous and resilient with strong cultural intelligence skills
Bilingual candidates are preferred (English / Spanish)
Ability to prepare students for concerts, recitals and performances
Ability to integrate music into visual and performing arts
Knowledge of the musical education workshop model for secondary level
Important job responsibilities:
Work with students, staff and families in all aspects of music education
Teach music classes to grades 4 through 12 (including IB Music)
At least 40 hours per week in the school
Regular interaction with parents and administration to meet all student needs
Support to the students' annual musical performances and to the performances required by Music IB
Start date: June 15, 2020
Compensation details:
1,000-1,400 US dollars (depending on educational level and bilingualism)
Futuro Verde also supports with the work visa, tuition for dependents, natural food at school and assistance in the process of finding housing
