Job Description

*** 4 positions available for March 2019 ***

Vivian’s Wonderland English School and Kindergarten is a fantastic opportunity for those who have a passion for teaching little ones. This beautifully decorated kindergarten offers 14,000 RMB a month for a schedule that includes weekends off, a 5 pm finish every day, as well as a 2-hour lunch break. The school already has a team of 5 foreign teachers, but as they are expanding, they are looking for more fun and energetic teachers to get on board.

**Working hours and classes.**

Teachers at Vivian’s Wonderland keep a regular 5-day schedule that runs from Monday to Friday, with no work on the weekends. The target amount of teaching hours is 25 hours per week which will fall inside the working hours of 8:30 - 12:00 and 14:00 - 17:00. When teachers are not in the classroom they can use the time for lesson preparation or any administrative work that needs to be done for their classes. During the lunch break, teachers are free to leave the school and use the time as they please.

The students range from 3 - 6 years old and classes typically have between 10 - 20 students. There is a set curriculum for teachers to follow that is based on the Shane English Schools curriculum and all necessary materials and resources will be provided. There will also be an assistant teacher present in each class to help prepare activities and assist with classroom management.

**Paid holidays and taking leave.**

Teachers will be paid for all Chinese national holidays in the year as well as Christmas day and 2 weeks of winter vacation. Teachers will also receive 2 weeks of summer vacation, however, this will not be compensated. Teachers are welcome to take leave outside of these times but will need to inform the school in advance.

**What’s it like living in Nanjing?**

Nanjing is a big city of 8 million people and has a brilliant history, good nightlife, and food of all cuisines to keep your palate busy. Nanjing is a great place to live for numerous reasons, whether be it because of the sites to see such as the city wall, hotspots like 1912 for nightlife, or Purple Mountain for natural beauty. As a major travel hub, Nanjing also offers up access to the rest of China through the country’s high-speed rail system.

While hardly a small city, it’s not as hectic and huge as Shanghai or Beijing, and thanks to recent efforts the pollution has improved markedly in the last few years.

Nanjing is as friendly and safe a place as one can find in China, and one of the better places to live in the country as it balances a high standard of life while not being overly expensive.

**Getting settled in Nanjing.**

New teachers will be met at the airport by a member of the staff, and a hotel will be provided for the teacher for the first week. During this time the teacher will be given assistance in finding a suitable apartment near the school, opening a bank account, getting a phone number, and generally getting settled. Vivian’s places a lot of importance on the well-being of their foreign teachers and are happy to go to great lengths to ensure new teachers settle in well and have everything they need to have a great time in their new city.

**Who we’re looking for.**

We’re looking for teachers who are native English speakers and hold both a degree and a 120-hour TEFL certificate. As it is a kindergarten position, we are looking for teachers who have the energy and personality to deliver entertaining classes to very young learners as well as the ability to keep order and discipline in the classroom.
