Job Description

***Shane English School in Shijiazhuang is hiring!****3 positions available for early 2019***

The school is currently looking for 2 teachers to start in March 2019, with more positions available later in the year. Salaries begin at 20,000 - 24,000 RMB per month, depending on qualifications and experience. The package also includes a 3,000 RMB flight reimbursement, a 3,000 RMB contract completion bonus, and 22 days holiday per year. New teachers will also receive a week of comprehensive training to get them familiar with the Shane curriculum and methodology.

Classes and working schedule:

Teachers at SES Shijiazhuang teach 22 hours and do 5 hours of office work per week, for a total of 108 working hours per month. Any extra hours will be paid, and to protect teachers during the low season, the salary is guaranteed even when teachers do not reach 108 hours in the month.
Classes are spread between the Shane School, a nearby kindergarten, and a primary school, but teachers’ schedules are designed so that each teacher will only teach at 2 of the locations in one day. Teachers are given their schedule well in advance with plenty of time to prep for lessons.
Students range from 3 years old up to 14 years old, and a native assistant teacher will always be present to assist with activity preparation and classroom management. Classes are typically 45 minutes with a 10-minute break between classes.

Salary and benefits:

20,000 - 24,000 RMB per month.
End of contract bonus: 2,000 RMB.
Flight reimbursement: 4,000 RMB.
22 days paid holiday per year.
Health insurance covered by the school.
Z visa provided.
Visa costs in China covered by the school.
Airport pickup.
Arrival hotel provided by the school

Training, support, and development:

Previous teaching experience is not essential as all new teachers will undergo a week of initial training. This training will be conducted by the Academic Manager or Director of Studies at Shane English Schools to ensure all teachers are completely comfortable and confident in teaching the Shane English curriculum. Workshops will also be held throughout the year to help teachers develop their skills, while the Academic Manager may observe some classes to provide feedback on areas of improvement.

Accommodation and orientation:

All new teachers will receive full assistance in the process of getting settled in Shijiazhuang. Somebody from the school will be assigned to help the new teachers find suitable accommodation within walking distance of the school, sign contracts, open a bank account, and anything else the teacher may need to get completely settled in Shijiazhuang.

Who we’re looking for:

We’re looking for teachers who can adapt their teaching style to different age groups and are not shy to have some fun with young learners. As a government and school policy, we only hire teachers who are native English speakers and hold both a degree and a 120-hour TEFL certificate. Those who don’t yet have a TEFL certificate can take advantage of the FREE TEFL offer on saxoncourt.com. The perfect teacher is somebody who is open-minded, has the ability to inspire young minds, and is ready to immerse themselves in Chinese culture.

From the horse’s mouth: Why teachers love Shijiazhuang:

Shijiazhuang – often called ‘Shiz’ by the expats who call it home – is probably one of the fastest growing cities in China. Originally it was built up around a knot of train lines and it has amazing rail connections from here to practically all places in China. Beijing is an hour away and Shanghai, Xian, and even Guangzhou are all easy to get to by high-speed rail.
The local airport cheaply connects to a whole bunch of other places and you can even fly direct to Thailand for some fun in the sun. If you’re keen to explore locally, it’s a fantastic hub to explore a massive country!
Shopping is covered by a large range of department stores scattered across the city covering all tastes, from cheap to designer brands, imported products, and endless electronic goods. There’s a wide range of market malls in the north that is an experience entirely unto themselves, or you can just order online from Taobao and have your shopping delivered directly to your door.
There is a bunch of bars in a mall complex called Wanda that cater really well to foreigners, and a Western bar chain called Ellen’s is really popular (and better priced, too). Clubs can be a little pricy but worth the price if you’re looking for a good party!
For some good healthy fun in ‘the Shiz’ we’ve also got hot spar complexes, a large zoo with a funfair, an indoor swimming pool, an aquarium with mermaid shows, an ice rink, a whole range of cinema complexes from Imax to 4D, an indoor garden, a ski slope, and bowling alleys.
The Shiz is also surrounded by mountains that are great for hiking, and also a whole range of culturally significant places that make for really pleasant day trips. There's an ancient city called Zheng Ding about thirty minutes away by bus to the North that has some incredibly well-preserved pagodas and relics from ancient China.

There’s always plenty to do in Shijiazhuang, and most foreign teachers have a really great time. A year will fly by so quickly that you’re almost sure to do a second.
