Hard work is always rewarded!

Learning a new Language is not something easy that you can achieve by studying from time to time. You need to focus on it and work hard. Learning Japanese was one of my goals for 2019, but it was so difficult to study and stay motivated alone. Then I read a Book called "The one Thing" (that I recommend btw) and it made me realized that the best way to achieve something is to put all your energy into one thing. So this is exactly what I did when I came to Fukuoka and started studying at Meiji. I listened to my teachers' guidance, I worked hard every day and my Japanese level really improved a lot!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
I would advice them to set goals. For example:
"At the end of the first week, I will be able to order at restaurant without help and ask for directions on the subway, all in Japanese."
This is an example, but I think that goals really help to stay motivated and focused.

A great understanding of Japan

Studying at Meiji was fun, everyone was nice and seemed happy to meet me. I was quite busy with all the classes and activities, with just enough time to rest and do some things by myself. I wish my best friend could have come with me, but unfortunately, she couldn't. Anyway, I met many people there, so I had a lot of fun! It was not my first contact with the Japanese language, I had a kind of basis before, but it was nothing compared to everything I learned at this school. I recommend Meiji to everyone who wants to discover a more authentic experience than just having the famous Tokyo-Kyoto-Osaka tour. Fukuoka is drastically different, with not so many foreigners and more opportunities. Traveling is about visiting new places, but I think it's also about learning the culture and the language of the country. In my opinion, going to a language school is the best way to travel!

Good job Meiji!

I really appreciated my time at Meiji Academy, so here is my feedback: They use different materials for the classes, so that's great. I am a visual person, so my teacher adapted to me and used visual ways to teach me. I was thankful for that. I could feel that they don't just do their job and go back home, but they really care about you and try to know your personality and thoughts in order to teach you better.
We had some activities in the evenings and weekends, it was a good way to make friends and create a good atmosphere within the Meiji Family ^^ There were Japanese volunteers to help with the activities so we could make Japanese friends as well. I particularly loved the takoyaki party and the yakisoba party at the school, we could eat while playing Japanese games, it was so fun! Actually, I don't have anything negative to say about this program. They did a good job!

See you soon!

I could not have dreamt of a better experience. It was my first time traveling alone so I was a bit worried, but Meiji's service was really safe and I appreciated the airport pick-up and all the little attentions they had. I'm not that good at studying, but this time I felt that every lesson was appealing and it was easy to concentrate (I was often the only student with the teacher or in small groups). I loved the teachers, they were so open-minded and fun! It was really a pleasure to study at this school. Now I am still able to communicate with some of the Japanese friends I made there, all in Japanese. This is so satisfying!!
I'm so sad I had to come back to my country, it was like waking up from a wonderful dream! Love Japan and Meiji Academy!!

A great experience!

I loved my time at Meiji Academy! It was my third time in Japan so I'm starting to get used to it. Before, I went to Kansai area, and Hokkaido as well, but I have to admit that Fukuoka was a completely different experience, because I took Japanese classes for the first time there. Until then I used to learn the language on my own and talk to Japanese friends online, but it was hard to find a structure and I tended to procrastinate. But after only 4 weeks of classes (I had group classes and private classes), I learned much more than in months alone! The teachers are nice and friendly and they adapt to everyone, that's really cool. My only regret is that I came with only one suitcase, and I couldn't bring back all my stuff, that was a real fail from my side... but I will go back to Fukuoka in the future, for sure!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Please don't forget that you will buy a lot of things and you will have to bring everything back to your country after!!

Studying at Meiji Academy

I took the Intensive course with Meiji Academy.
The school building was very easy to find, thanks to the maps and directions the very organized staff members sent to me. The classes themselves were well structured and left plenty of freedom for interaction and personal preferences.
On my first day, I was given my class schedule, the names of my teachers and was brought to a local shrine on a very nice little tour. I had two different teachers, which is a great thing because they could focus on different aspects of my Japanese. I was especially fond of my private classes because they allowed me to identify my weak points.
The team is very flexible and motivated.
Overall, I had a very productive, very enjoyable stay at Meiji Academy. Warmest recommendations!
