Ecuador and the Galapagos

I had a great time connecting with people from all over the United States. This was also a great opportunity for someone who had never been out of the country. I had ha great time and I experienced tremendous growth. Although the hiking was not my favorite due to my past experiences, I had a better time hiking and I grew to love nature and my surroundings. I believe I overcame quite a lot and the staff was amazing with all the changes. They still managed to get everything done and be supportive to me.

Pros
  • Personal Growth
  • Checking off my bucket list
  • A load of fun
Cons
  • Mentally draining at times
  • Stressful to be away for so long without contact from support at home

One of the best trips I have ever been on

This trip was one of the best experiences I have ever been on, from meeting people like me around the world to learning about different cultures. I had never gone on a trip similar to this one and everything about it was amazing. From the start of the trip, I felt comfortable and was able to connect with the other campers, making friendships on the first day. The icebreakers that were set up were not awkward and I was able to enjoy every moment of the trip as soon as I landed. This trip also made me feel much more comfortable in an area that I have never been to before.

Pros
  • People were extremely friendly
  • Tried a lot of food from the area
  • Met friends from areas far away from where I lived
Cons
  • Flight was long (Not a big Deal)

Bold Alps 2022

The Bold Alps trip was both mentally and physically tough. It was and amazing experience and I speak for everyone when I say the feeling of accomplishment we had when it was over was like no other feeling. I laughed the hardest I’ve ever laughed on this trip and made amazing life long memories with people who I only got to spend 2 short weeks with. I’d recommend this trip to an and every teen who is looking for a summer experience that they will never forget. I’m still in contact with the friends I made and hope to be for a very long time.

Pros
  • Beautiful scenery
  • Amazing experiences
  • Great friends
Cons
  • A lot of physical and mental strength needed
  • Very tiring
  • I don’t have another con

Bold Alps Review!

I am a student that has been on two Bold Earth trips so far, and I can't recommend them enough. I just got back from two weeks hiking in the Alps, and I am still in awe. I am an aspiring photographer, so there was no shortage of material, but I think what made the trip special was the people. The trip leaders were knowledgeable and super fun, and all the other students were just as excited as I was. Together we hiked through stunning landscapes while eating the best fresh baguettes and cheese you have ever had! The trip also felt really safe, so for anyone on the fence about going overseas with a bunch of strangers: GO FOR IT. I have been nervous before both of my trips, and I don't regret a minuet of either of them. They really were some of the best weeks of my life!

Pros
  • The leaders are fun and excited, while still being knowledgable and mature.
  • The the places that you visit are incredible.
  • The people that you meet are super excited to be there which makes it a great environment to explore in.
Response from Bold Earth Adventures

We are so happy that you enjoyed both of your trips with us! You have been a model Bold Earth student (and a great photographer too). I know your leaders really appreciated your leadership, tolerance for adversity and uncertainty, and positive attitude. We hope to see you again (maybe one day as a leader)!

You will look back with gratitude and memories to last a lifetime!

No matter how you are involved with Bold Earth (student, parent, trip leader, office team) you will get to understand how special this company truly is. From incredible opportunities for growth and leadership, to gorgeous natural settings, to stories around the campfire or playing hilarious games under the stars, you will feel the MAGIC of this incredible community. It is something that is so hard to explain until you are a part of it, however I know it started from the first time I called the office staff. Bold Earth’s intentionality for life-changing experiences is palpable and I can say with clarity that my first summer with Bold Earth truly changed my life for the better. I couldn’t stop talking about it after the summer and I still love getting to share my experience with others all these months later. I can remember the memories like they were yesterday. I LOVE looking back at pictures of our California adventure. Our whole group was so close and felt like we had known each other much longer than 2 weeks. The Bold Earth staff does such an incredible job planning exceptional trips with activities like white water rafting, rock climbing, surfing, hiking, kayaking, scuba diving, and more–there is really something for everyone. In the recent world that has been filled with so much uncertainty, Bold Earth has created such certainty in my life. The certainty of forming life-long relationships, of opening your mind to new ideas and experiences, connecting with nature, smiling non stop, and believing in yourself in a whole new way. Being involved with Bold Earth has been the best reminder that with intentionality and detailed planning my outdoor adventure goals of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro and thru hiking the Camino de Santiago and trekking to Machu Picchu are absolutely within reach! I tell everyone I know about Bold Earth!!

What is your favorite travel memory?

In 2016 I was traveling with a group of Bold Earth students in Fiji. We had just had our nightly meeting around a campfire, and were walking back to our homestay families, when we noticed that the stars were so bright that we didn't need our headlamps.

We all laid down on the sand and looked up at the greatest light show of all time. Unforgettable.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

Over my years of working at Bold Earth I have learned to appreciate the fact that details matter. It is important to understand the greater picture, but paying close attention to the nitty gritty of travel experiences is something that I pride myself in.

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

A couple of years ago I got a call from a former Bold Earth participant. It turns out that she and another camper on her trip got into the same college. They became college roommates and spent one summer traveling around Europe together.

Bringing people together is what Bold Earth is all about.

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

I am crazy about so many of our trips, and there are too many to choose from. But, if I had to pick one, it would be our Peru Machu Picchu trip. Peru has such a rich history and beautiful culture, and the Peruvians that I have met have been so warm and welcoming.

Also, on Peru Machu Picchu, Bold Earth hikes the Inca trail. This is for sure a bucket list item, and I am not sure how much longer there will be such free access to the ancient site of Machu Picchu.

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

Bold Earth is unique in the way that we get to know each and every one of our families, and how we build the best groups in the business because of our relationships with families.

We take the time to interview every participant that joins Bold Earth and at least one of their parents through an interview over the phone. The Bold Earth team really knows how to connect with teenagers and listen.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

I think that caring and listening to our participants and their families is the most important thing that a travel company can do.
