CAPA The Global Education Network

About

What do you want to get out of your study abroad experience? No matter what, you’ll have to spend some time in the classroom. But what if there were a way to get out into your new city and truly live what you learn?

Welcome to CAPA: The Global Education Network. For over 40 years CAPA has been changing students’ lives by immersing them in various cultures around the world.

Through coursework, internship opportunities, and My Global Education cultural activities you will participate in challenges that excite and inspire you. Enjoy creamy gelato as you learn about the renaissance, or lose yourself in Shakespeare as you recall his words steps from where they were written. However you choose to do it, make your study abroad experience your own, and find yourself in a second home you will never forget.

*While we only accept US students and provide undergraduate credit, some exceptions may apply. Contact a CAPA admissions adviser today to talk about what will work best for you.

Studying abroad can be quite scary, but the CAPA staff is extremely welcoming and makes sure you have everything you need to be independent, adventurous, and safe in a foreign country. Although I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted to do career wise in the future, I knew I wanted to work in the entertainment industry. The CAPA staff placed me in the best possible internship I could have ever hoped for. I worked as an Entertainment and Sport Marketing Intern with the largest ticketing company, Ticketek. Through my internship, I learned so much about marketing and the entertainment industry, which has confirmed my love for the entertainment industry. I also loved my coworkers and the work culture there, which pushed me to do things outside my comfort zone. I even attended events with coworkers outside of work and still have a good relationship with them to this day! With transportation included in the CAPA program, I was able to go anywhere in New South Wales! CAPA truly helped me build an experience of a lifetime that has strengthened my resume more than any other study abroad program! I would go back in a heartbeat if I could!

I absolutely loved Australia and my study abroad would not have been what it was if I didn't go with CAPA. CAPA provided the perfect amount of support while also providing the perfect amount of independence. With CAPA, public transportation is included in the program which allows you to truly explore the city as much as you desire. With an optional internship, CAPA expands your resume even more than a regular study abroad program! I had an incredible group that I studied abroad with as well as an amazing internship. My only complaint was that I didn't meet many Aussies other than my teachers but I am keen to move back to Australia as soon as possible. Even though I didn't meet many Aussies I did gain an excellent understanding and appreciation for the culture there!

Working at Brincar, a local nonprofit, not only gave me language proficiency, but also the valuable opportunity to do something meaningful to effect change while abroad. I learned what my limits and capabilities are, and was stretched and challenged to lead programming all in my second language. My internship also allowed me to meet and work with so many incredible locals who are making huge differences in the lives of people with Autism in Argentina. Beyond the internship, the friendships I made, both with locals and international students, and experiences I had will stay with me forever. It was totally, without a shadow of a doubt, worthwhile.
Never once did I feel unsafe when staying in Buenos Aires. Just like any city, it's good to be cautious, and I took my tips from the Argentines around me: for example, on public transportation, everyone wears their back packs on their fronts with an arm slung over it. This prevents theft. Things like that, and just being generally aware of your surroundings, will keep you safe.
Our knowledgable on-site staff made me feel safe and cared for. They were wonderful about providing information on opportunities for engagement in the city, as well as other helpful cultural and linguistic tips. They responded to emails and texts rapidly, even when they weren't in the office. They made sure we knew we could come to them with anything, from homesickness to actually being sick, to just needing to complain about how much we missed a certain type of food. They were incredible.I definitely encourage study abroad students to search out their own opportunities for language growth outside of the classroom. For me, that looked like my internship, volunteering each week, attending a local church, and seeking out relationships with Argentines.

Not many of the course offerings on the main campus are in Spanish, only the Spanish language courses. I would have loved to take some topic-specific classes IN Spanish, but the campus where those were offered was an hour away by bus, and I couldn't fit it into my schedule with my internship. I would definitely love to see changes to that.

I spent a month studying abroad this summer and it was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I learned so much and gained a new kind of confidence that I did not have before. I didn't believe people when they told me that studying abroad would change me, but it absolutely did.
Florence is indescribable and I had so much fun exploring it and other parts of Italy. CAPA's program is great and I would do it again in a second.

CAPA gave me the opportunity to intern abroad in a field of my choice. They did all of the work for me in terms of finding me a company to work with and finding a supervisor for me to work under. All I had to do was tell them my preference for field work (which I put HR - human resources) and they took care of the rest for me. CAPA was awesome because they provided support to me throughout the whole way. They paid for all of my transportation which was a huge lifesaver.
The company I worked for was IHG, Intercontinental Hotel Group, and my team and supervisor were all amazing in helping me to assimilate to the life of London and the life of working in London. Being able to gain work experience in a different country was absolutely amazing and it was a phenomenal opportunity. I was able to work in a team of 6 and gained a ton of experience in the field of Human Resources. My workplace was extremely diverse which was really cool to experience, especially coming from a predominantly white community. The friendships, experience, and everything I had the opportunity to be a part of was amazing and if I could do it all again I would. Thank you to CAPA for providing me with the opportunity!
