Can't recommend this enough!

Had the best time in India for 6 weeks! I felt really helpful within the teaching programme, and loved joining in with the woman's empowerment when I could! Vishy is one of the nicest people ever and so incredibly helpful booking so many of our trips for us. Anything you need he can help you out. The only thing I noticed is that the medical programme came become a little crowded at peak times, but as Vishy is opening up new clinics I think this problem will soon be resolved. Prepare yourselves for a massively rewarding and 100% authentic Indian experience! Best time ever.

I couldn’t have dreamed of a better experience

I really couldn’t have dreamed of a better experience. As my first time out of Europe I was nervous but PMGY were extremely helpful from beginning to end.
Before I travelled I was constantly ringing Josh with all sorts of questions and he always had time for a chat and to give me all the information I needed. The team within the house are amazing and make you feel at home straight away. They make sure they get to know all the volunteers personally meaning there is always someone to chat to. Cultural nights, weekend trips and the projects themselves give you plenty of ways to make new friends while in Sri Lanka.
While I was in Sri Lanka with PMGY I did the orphanage, elephant and a day pass on turtles. All of these projects are truly inspiring and so well organised. The orphanage has really opened my eyes to how other communities live around the world.

PMGY Ghana

Not quite knowing what to expect from my time in Ghana I can now say that it was 5 of the most unforgettable weeks of my life. The country coupled with the amazing staff led by Seth and Flo made me feel at home and although I am unable to properly convey through words how grateful I am to have been able to spend my time in Ghana with PMGY I strongly recommend it to anyone wanting to travel and really experience the country and all it has to offer.

pmgy india

Volunteered in india for 2 weeks. Was one of the best life time experiences and would love to do it again. Worked as a clinical volunteer which also included work in the orphanage and the slum school. Visited many hospitals and also had the chance to watch surgeries and assist in providing health check ups for the public. Also had the chance to visit many beautiful attractions such as the taj mahal and other beautiful places in Delhi and jaipur. This experience had a positive impact on my life as I got to learn so much about the different cultures and beliefs and this experience helped me get a hospital placement in london.☺

Bali

Pre-departure support is given via specially set-up social media groups for the individual programmes where you have direct access to volunteers that are already on the programme, Phillip, Josh and the in country support. You can ask any questions and someone who knows the answer is guaranteed to get back to you within 24 hours. You are also sent a volunteer handbook which has lots of information, with practically anything you need to know and more- including phrases you may need in that particular language.
The in-country support was next to perfect. We were with Ketut and her amazing family. They dedicate their lives to ensuring you are safe, well and enjoying the programme. They even contacted me when I arrived home to make sure I got there safely and my journey went smoothly. You live with them, so your safety is guaranteed and they are a 24/7 support. They were brilliant. I was quite homesick when I first arrived in Bali and they supported me so much and helped me get through it, I also fell and triggered a recurring injury. The family were brilliant at ensuring I was okay.
The programme is ideal if you want to gain experience of working with young children or teaching. If you can teach English to Indonesian children, you can teach anything! The day is set up so you teach at local schools for an hour in the morning and teach local children at an optional English lesson in the afternoon at Ketut's home. The teachers at the local schools speak very little English, but members of Ketut's family come to the placements with you if you need any support while teaching or need to speak to the children in Indonesian.
The accommodation is brilliant. I honestly wasn't expecting it to be that good. The beds are comfy, you are provided with meals, there is good wi-fi if you need it, the rooms are single-sex with a kitchen specifically for the volunteers and each bedroom has a bathroom. There are also lockers and wardrobes at your disposal.
The only advice I would give to future volunteers is to bring bug spray (lots of it and apply it as much as you can!) and to take all the support given to you while you are there. If there are volunteers that have been there a while take all of their advice- they know how to make the most out of the experience.

Ghana

I cant even put into words how I feel about my time in Ghana with PMGY. Its been the most amazing experience of my life. Nothing makes me happier than seeing the kids at the school and orphanage smile, and I feel privileged to have been a part of their lives and education.

The PMGY staff are fantastic. Seth has been great, he's always there if you need him and has given me his full support. Flo is just the most amazing woman I've ever met - she gives her all to us volunteers as well as the kids at school. Christy and Cindy are great in the kitchen and always so friendly.

The placements are wonderful and they give you the opportunity to see what life is like in Ghana. I did the hospital, orphanage and school, and each one is so rewarding and you really feel a part of the community when you're there.

I have felt completely safe during my whole time in Ghana. Either in the trotros, taxis or just walking around, I always felt comfortable, and the people in Ghana are so helpful and friendly.
I would highly recommend PMGY Ghana to everyone - I've had the best time, made friends for life, and want to return in the future.

Teaching in Vietnam

In short, my teaching experience in Vietnam was really great. Having decided that I wanted to backpack SE Asia, I also decided to do a little voluntary work before travelling. After some careful research on different program providers, I found PMGY. Their office in the UK was incredibly helpful in answering all my pre-departure questions and helping me sort out my visa. The project itself was great - I was teaching English at a vocational college for disadvantaged students, and really did feel like I was making a meaningful difference (I would assist the teachers and had about 3/4 hours of teaching time per day). To sum up, I can't recommend PMGY enough - they are helpful, efficient, friendly, and provided me with an unforgettable teaching experience in Vietnam.

PMGY GHANA

I travelled to Ghana aged only 17 with no prior travelling experience. I took part of the orphanage placement but was given ample opportunities to take part in all of the placements. I find it extremely difficult to put into words how much I loved this trip and it was quite frankly the best three months of my life so far. I have bonded with all the children and have never been so sad to leave. All staff including seth and flo were more supportive than you can ever even imagine. They became my family with Kumasi being my home. Cannot recommend Seth / PMGY more and will most certainly be back. If you're considering volunteering please use PMGY and take my word for it, i've never felt safer or move loved. I've made incredible bonds and friendships that will last a lifetime.

What would you improve about this program?
Personally, I don't feel it can. Sure there were issues with running water and power but it's Africa. Stuff like this is bound to happen. Seth was the best friend I could ask for and even when I was extremely sick he was there by my side.

Ghana 2017

Being in the orphange as placement was so eye opening as to how a developing country deals with a very large problem within the community. There was not a single day I didnt enjoy being at placement, I loved every second from arriving to leaving!
The local staff at the PGMY house are God's gift to this earth, everyone will go out of their way to make you feel happy, at home and comfortable in your enviroment. Every staff member within the house is amazing and always so happy and cheery. I cant thank them enough because they have given up their lives for us and that is such a commitment 24/7 365 days a year they are there for you come rain or shine they will do anything to make you happy.
Being in Ghana I have felt so safe because everyone works and lives as one big family, everything is protected and everyone looks out for each other even strangers look out for eachother.
This trip has changed me so much as a person and I would recommend this trip to anyone, any age, and travel experiance. But only if they can handle the heat of the sun and of the food!
These 4 weeks have have felt like a week, from day one I felt at home. Looking forward to my next trip out to my PMGY Ghana family!

What would you improve about this program?
The only improvement that could be made personally is the size of the tro tros as they are really small if you are over 6 foot. But there is nothing I would change about Seth and his team!
