Grenoble Study Abroad - Summer

Although I was only in Grenoble for a month, it was an amazing experience. A typical day was getting up in the morning, stopping at a bakery or grocery store that was below my apartment for breakfast, and heading to school on the train. It was so different for me to take public transit to school every day, also walking a bit to and from the transit stops but it was a GREAT experience for me. I stayed a little ways outside of Grenoble with an amazing host family. My house was really nice and my host mom made delicious food every single night I was there. The school was nice and so were the students. I met students from all over the world which was one of the best experiences of my trip. I wasn't a huge fan of my professor but I think that was just bad luck because most students seemed to enjoy their classes. Grenoble itself is a cute city that has a lot of charm but still quite a bit to do. It is a great place to be a student. There are fabulous restaurants, museums, parks, festivals, and probably whatever else you are interested in. It is a short train ride away from major cities like Lyon and Paris. Panrimo does a good job providing support during the program. It is a small program, which is nice. The excursions were fun and interesting, but I felt as though since it is still kind of a young program, that they are still perfecting some things about the excursions. The school itself offers amazing trips and opportunities like hiking, rafting, trips to the mountains, etc. That was one of my favorite things about Universite de Grenoble. I was able to take a French cooking class, a trip to Avignon, and a trip to Chamonix ( a mountain town in the Alps).

What would you improve about this program?
I wish the excursions would have been more organized and I wish there would have been more students in the program. I think both of these things will develop further with time since it is still a young program.

Best Program! More than imagined

I loved this program. It gave me an opportunity of a lifetime at a rate I could justify. Everyone is extremely helpful, patient, caring and lovely to work with. For anyone going abroad, THIS should be your program.

What would you improve about this program?
Everything that was in the program's control was fantastic!

Stirling, Scotland

Studying abroad in Scotland was the opportunity of a lifetime. My experience has changed me because it taught me that there is no "normal". Getting out of my comfort zone is sometimes very hard for me to do and studying abroad is the best and most fun way to broaden your horizons. Scotland had amazing culture that I had never been exposed to before and I made friends that I will never lose. Our whole study abroad group was so close, we went everywhere together! I wouldn't have picked another program and would recommend this one to anyone.

What would you improve about this program?
If I had to change one thing, it would have been more interaction with the local students. (I know there's only so much that can be done with the summer program since they don't attend school in the summer).

Great program

The program opportunity was fabulous! However, there were a few things that could have been done differently. For instance, no one had visited our housing prior to our arrival. There were a few problems with the beds and such, but they also fixed this problem for us. They also did a great job of acclimating us to the city with the on-site coordinator who we could go to with any problems/concerns. Cost was definitely a pit-fall though, too.

The internship itself was amazing; I would do it again in a heart-beat!

What would you improve about this program?
The cost of the program is very expensive, and I didn't feel Panrimo did much to help with scholarships or aid.

Great Program!

I had an incredible time in Florence. Panrimo provided us with a great, personal support system, and Santa Reparata was a great school to be a part of. I would recommend Panrimo to anyone! Florence is a great city, and it is a wonderful place to study abroad. I wish I had gone for longer!

Completely Unprofessional

I interned in Prague for two months over the summer through Panrimo. While I loved Prague and had a great experience, I don't think Panrimo had anything to do with this. My internship placement couldn't have been more off from what I told the program advisors I was looking for. Throughout the application process, it seemed as though the advisors had no connections in Prague that offered an internship related to my interests. Instead of being honest with me, Panrimo decided they really wanted my money and threw me into an organization where I was doing tasks that weren't even related to my major, even though the advising staff had done a good job in convincing me otherwise prior to arriving. Paying for the program is also a nightmare because the staff couldn't do math and I had to correct them not once, but twice in their calculation of my balance. Communicating with Panrimo while abroad and once I returned was extremely difficult. They either wait over a week to get back to you, or don't email you back at all. Overall, I'm glad I had the experience of living abroad for two months, but if I were to do it again I would absolutely choose another program to assist me.

Response from Panrimo

We’re happy to hear you enjoyed the time you spent in Prague! Every one of the dozens of students we’ve placed in intern and study programs there have fallen in love with the city and come home with lots of stories to share.

At Panrimo, we’re committed to providing personalized study and intern programs for each of our students. Working with students and our many professional contacts abroad, we strive to tailor every program to satisfy each student’s specific needs. A detailed internship job description is provided by the employer and signed off by each student at least a month before each program begins. At any part of the process, students can come to us with worries or concerns and we’ll adjust the curriculum accordingly, even if the semester has already started. In addition, our Executive Directors travel every summer to meet students and address any unexpected issues.

The happiness of our students is paramount to us, and thanks to our dedicated international staff in each host city and our 24/7 helpline, we are always available to talk to/assist students with any problems that may arise. We make replying to emails a priority and try to respond within 24 hours of having received it.

We’ve recently more than doubled our Detroit office staff and look forward to providing even better service and opportunities for our Panroamers! Look for expanded opportunities to meet with fellow alum both online and at study abroad events, and be sure to take advantage of our Panroamer Travel Club, available wherever you may go.

Highly Recommend

With supportive staff, a beautiful city with countless amenities, and an insanely fun university, this program was a fantastic choice. Prague is easy to get around and is a fairly cheap city when comparing it to the rest of Europe. The Panrimo advisors are always willing to help or give their advice, but they aren't overbearing in that you feel as though your parents came along. Anglo-American University is full of amazing professors and some really cool people that come from all over the world.

London through Panrimo

The academic highlight of my trip was the quality of my professors. Both men were extremely qualified in their area of expertise and easy to talk to. Both of my professors understood that their students were only in London for a few weeks and they wanted us to get to most out of our trip. The classes weren’t about sitting in a classroom and cramming facts about London into your head; they were about discovering new places and forming opinions and then sharing them with your class and professor, whether that was through a presentation or a series of short essays depended on the class.
The social highlight of my trip was traveling all over England with my new friends from all over the United States. I met people from States that I almost forgot existed and where I couldn’t imagine living but we all had similar personalities and a love for traveling. It was great to be able to talk about the differences between growing up outside Washington DC with Chicago or Seattle and realize that even though we were all from different time zones in the US there were many ways we could relate and connect. I’ve been keeping in touch with my friend from London and I really hope to reunite with them all someday!
I chose Panrimo because of their excellent communication and customer service. I was very busy junior year with a heavy course load and a part time job but Panrimo made it extremely easy for me to study abroad. They always answered questions through email quickly and thoroughly. I never felt like I was dealing with a large company where I was only a number and a check and that made a huge difference in the 6 month long process! Panrimo understood what I wanted out of my experience abroad because they asked and cared then they catered my experience to those preferences and I had the trip of a lifetime.

What would you improve about this program?
The beds in the University of Westminster's International House could have been a lot better

Awesome Experience!

From the time I submitted my application until I arrived back in the U.S. after my internship Panrimo was always there to answer any question or concern I had. They took the time to get to know me on a more personal level in order to find the perfect internship for me. One of the first questions they asked me after I was accepted into the program was if I could have my dream internship in Prague where would it be. I told them my dream internship would be at the National Museum. Only problem with that was the National Museum building was closed for renovations. However, they found me an internship with the National Museum working with their online collection on their website. My internship was the best experience of my life. My supervisor was wonderful she taught me everything she needed me to know and I felt comfortable asking questions if I did not understand something. I had 3 roommates from other universities across the U.S. Even though there was 4 of us sharing our apartment it was more than big enough for us all. It included a full kitchen, each of us had our own bed, and a washing machine. It was close to public transportation so going to work and into the city was quick and easy. The apartment was beautiful and in a clean and safe neighborhood. Prague has a never ending list of things to see and do. I look forward to going back. If you want a truly amazing internship experience give Panrimo a call or send them an email and see where it could take you.

What would you improve about this program?
Honestly the only thing I would change if I was starting this experience over again would be doing a 3 month internship instead of a 2 month internship.

Internship in Scotland

Simply AMAZING. However, amazing does not seem like a strong enough word to describe my internship experience. I had amazing support from the staff members at St. John's Hospital's Regional Eating Disorders Unit. I felt as though I was doing meaningful work during my time in Scotland. I was living in Edinburgh, and I was never bored. There is always something to see or do. The people were very helpful if I was trying to find a certain place and also very friendly.

What would you improve about this program?
I wish Panrimo had a different method for selecting roommates when you are living in an apartment option. A difficult roommate can make for a challenging experience abroad.
