HIGHLY RECOMMEND

I've been studying in LTL for two weeks now and since the first day my experience has been above my expectations. I’ve trusted them with everything and wasn’t let down, from housing to getting me a SIM card to have a Chinese phone number to use here. I have classes for about four hours everyday, but I wish to come back and spend more time studying. Studying by myself or having 2/3 hours of classes every week is honestly not enough. I’ve been learning SO MUCH everyday, I don’t think it’s impossible to learn Chinese anymore. The people here have also been fantastic, inside the school and just around Shanghai. Highly recommend.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Have VPN and an eSIM before you get here!
Pros
  • Great people
  • Lots of learning
  • Safe city
Cons
  • Need VPN
  • Need Chinese phone number
  • Not many housing options

Great language learning opportunity

Even with only 1 week of Korean language class with 6 hours a day I learned a lot. The teachers Kyle and Joohee where cool and very adept in explaining things and sharing their knowledge. The classrooms are nice and i like the location in Hongdae. The staff is very friendly and always ready to help or give a tip. It is also very helpful that housing can be organized via LTL as well. They also offer going to lunch together or doing fun things after school like pocha night, going to events together or traveling. I would go there anytime again.

What was your funniest moment?
Eating out with the staff and other language students.

Great 1-week language boost at LTL Mandarin School in Shanghai

I spent a great time at LTL Mandarin School in Shanghai, taking a one week course with group and 1-on-1 classes as part of a Bildungsurlaub booked through a German agency.

Everybody working at LTL is incredibly kind, helpful and responsive. All the organisation ahead of my stay went very smoothly including sorting out my placement in an adequate B1 course.

I had classes with Anne, Katniss and Ray. They were all patient, understanding, encouraging, and very skilled at making more complex concepts easy to understand. My group class was small, just me and one other student, which meant we all got plenty of speaking time and personalized attention. In the group classes we followed a textbook, but the teachers always adapted to my individual needs as well. In the 1-on-1 classes I was able to choose the study topics freely by myself.

The school itself is in a great, convenient location in Shanghai, and the modern classrooms make a comfortable learning environment.

Unfortunately my course was cut a bit short due to sickness. Not being able to come to class for the last two days, study coordinator Alex and especially teacher Anne went above and beyond to support me and make sure I was cared for as I was recovering. Thank you so much for that!

Overall I was amazed at how much my confidence in speaking grew after just a few days of studying at LTL. I can recommend this school to anyone and definitely plan on coming back next year.

I'll be back, LTL!

I only have fantastic things to say about LTL Taipei. Starting from my initial research of language programs in Taiwan, LTL was by far the most informative, flexible, and responsive. I was always responded to within two days which made the choice of choosing my program a no-brainer. Though on the pricey side, I feel it was very worth the investment.

LTL offers a mix of small group classes and 1-on-1 lessons. Students can choose to stay for as short or long as they would like, and in 1-on-1 classes, can focus on whatever skill they wish to improve on. In my three week experience, I was taught by Tammy X (MWF) and Francine (TR). Tammy was extremely strong in language principals, especially in grammar principals. As an english speaker, her ability to break down grammar concepts was surprisingly easy to understand. Francine was incredibly energetic and pushed students in class to speak more. The duo pairing worked really well for my class.

In addition to the classes, organized lunches occurred at least twice a week, along with game nights, and external activities. Many solo travelers I met were able to find a niche within the school, and I myself found many folks to call forever friends through this program!

Special thanks to Riona and Alin, the two coordinators at LTL Taipei who are always warm and happy to help students with any and all challenges faced. They are not only kind, but resourceful, honest, and helpful. I know not everyone had the same experience with LTL, with one of the main comments being that the teachers all had different teaching styles. That being said, with enough communication, students are able to find a teacher who fits their needs. I absolutely loved LTL Taipei and hope to return my mandarin learning journey here in the near future!

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
If I were to sign up again, I would go for the 1-on-1 lessons. Because I didn't know how it was set up or if it would be too much, I decided not to. Next time, I would take the leap and push myself to go 1-on-1!

Had the most rewarding three weeks…

Had the most rewarding three weeks learning Korean in Seoul at LTL. My instructor, Minji, and the staff (Manuel, Hyunyoung, Lio, and Hailey) were super supportive and an absolutely pleasure to be around. Not only did my Korean improve, but I got to connect with other students and explore the city through the variety of after school activities. Some highlights include exploring Eunpyeong Hanok Village, Jingewansa temple, and Bukhansan National Park with staff and other students - there are activities I would perhaps not have done on my own, since they’re just on the edge of the city, but travelling with the group made it fun and easy. Can’t wait to be back! Thank you LTL Seoul!

7 weeks at LTL Beijing

I stayed for 7 weeks at the LTL school in Beijing. It was an amazing experience! I took group classes in the class of teacher Alice. She was an amazing teacher with a lot of patience. She always explained new words very clearly and also talked about the local life of students. Apart from my teacher the other staff at the LTL were also great! They were very kind and supportive, especially when I felt homesick at times. I met amazing people there and did a lot of the cultural activities, further expanding my knowledge of Chinese culture. During those 7 weeks, I stayed at a host family, ms. Wang was an incredible host mother. Because their family did not speak any English, i was forced to communicate with them in Chinese, so i would even learn new words outside of school. Every single part about this program was just amazing. I am definitely returning sometime soon!

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
This was my first journey alone ever, so during the first week or so i got really homesick, barely eating anything and feeling down quite a lot. The staff and other students really helped me get back on my feet, along side my homestay family.
Pros
  • amazing people(teachers, locals, international students, other staff from LTL)
  • great food close to the school
  • very accessible location
Cons
  • no cons

Beginners!!! The place to be!

I studied at LTL in May 2025. I was a complete beginner, and in four weeks I was able to acquire the basics of conversation. I enjoyed the school so much that I returned in October 2025 to continue my studies. The teachers and staff help you feel comfortable and learn in good conditions.

You can also receive assistance in finding accommodation.

After classes, the school offers activities to discover Korean culture or simply what Koreans do for fun. The school is located in Hongdae. You can find good restaurants, cafes, or go shopping after class.

I highly recommend LTL

Thank You LTL Seoul

I spent 2 months at LTL Seoul. Right from the start, the director was incredibly helpful, taking the time to personally assess my level to ensure I was placed correctly.

My teacher, Hyeri, was patient and adjusted her lessons to my rhythm. I had the opportunity to try out the different course formats offered: I took both the small group classes (four hours) and the one-on-one sessions (two hours). I found both formats to be fun and effective in their own ways. The combination offered a good balance between group practice and dedicated, individual focus.

The entire staff at the school is nice, supportive, and looks out for the students. They are approachable and they really listen when you have questions or feedback.

I sincerely want to thank LTL Seoul for everything. I made a lot of good memories during my time there. Take care.

Great Vietnamese class

I attended a one-week Vietnamese class with LTL Language School in Hanoi in October 2025 and had a great experience. The coordinator Margot and the teacher Jasmine were super nice and helpful.

It was very well organized and I could improve my Vietnamese skills a lot with my teacher Jasmine.

I learned many new words and expressions, and I could immediately practice what I learned during my stay in Vietnam. It was an enjoyable and effective learning experience!

I can definitely recommend and will come back during my next stay in Vietnam.
