I’ve been taking Mandarin classes for one month, and it has been a really great experience. Learning the language is challenging, but also very fun. Everyone here is very kind and always willing to help, which makes the classes even better. I’d also like to thank my teachers, Jamie and Winnie — they are excellent professionals, very patient, and amazing at what they do. I’m really enjoying this experience.

I did a one-month language program at this school, and I had a really great experience. I was a complete beginner in Mandarin, so it was definitely challenging at first, but also very rewarding.

I had two amazing teachers, Jamie and Winnie, who helped me a lot throughout the program. They were very patient, kind, and fun, which made the classes enjoyable and comfortable, even when the content was difficult.

I feel like I improved a lot in just one month. It was a challenging but very fun experience, and the school offers good support for students. Overall, I really recommend this program, especially for people starting from zero.

Flexible organization accommodating my needs with a mix of online classes before joining the school and then the very flexible schedule while on site.

Very qualified teachers, very experienced in teaching foreigners. We used to mix of material, including articles and textbooks that were specifically designed for my level of Chinese and what I wanted to focus on.

Location in Beihai it’s a great alternative to the big cities. You will see almost no foreigner there. The city is not too big and easy to navigate. And then, of course, the climate and the beaches are perfect.

I signed up for LTL to learn Mandarin as a complete beginner who knew maybe 1 or 2 phrases and that was it. I signed up for both 1:1 private class, and group class. Jamie is my teacher and I LOVE her! She speaks English and is able to teach with so much patience and knowledge. Everyday we review past topics before moving onto new ones so she makes sure I understand what is going on. Mandarin is a very challenging language but LTL makes it possible to learn. The program is also fairly social, so I came as a solo traveler and stayed with a host family and am able to explore around the city with other students I met through the program

Their professional online presence and Instagram presence had long since caught my attention.

When I was on a business trip in Beijing, I just decided spontaneously to walk into the school and ask for language classes. It's conveniently located directly and the metro station of line 1 and 14.
My overall experience is outstanding! I made rapid progress with my Chinese language skills through the interactive teaching. Furthermore I earned great insights into Chinese culture through the optional afternoon activities.

The Simplified Chinese/Mandarin Chinese classes were more than excellent. They far exceeded my expectations. I'll explain in chronological order:

- First of all, I was extremely glad I had bought the Survival Kit. When I arrived in Beijing, I had already had several online conversations and was part of the school's chat group.

- At the airport, a driver was already waiting for me to take me to the local house where LTL had organized my stay. Summer, my generous hostess, welcomed me and took care of me every day I was there. Thank you, Summer, for those breakfasts 😋. At the school, I was given the rest of the survival kit, including a SIM card that lasted not only for the duration of the course, but for an extra month, which I was able to use to travel around China. Very convenient.
But I'm saving the best for last: my teacher and the school. My teacher, Xue, is wonderful. I had a basic HSK1 level. She dedicated a lot of time to me, and I made more progress in a week than I had in a year of studying every day. She not only has a lot of patience, but also the ability to put herself in the mindset of the language I was speaking and try to understand why I was making those mistakes. 谢谢老师 Xue 🫶🏻🫶🏻

There is another reason why I recommend LTL over other schools. It is because of their ability to create a community among students who arrive alone from far away and who, for the most part, only take individual classes. It is a welcoming school that organizes inclusive activities. The student advisors Linda Liu, Allessandra, Ilaria, to name a few, were great. I quickly found a group of friends.

Note: you need to know English for the experience to be more fruitful. I'll be back!!!

I chose to study Mandarin in LTL for a few months in 2025 and I had such a great time. I started from the most basic and foundational level they offered (A0) and went up from there. The teaching structure of the school was fast as it seems that it was designed for short-term students. This quickly paced course however, still manages to include all the necessary structures, grammar notes and most important and useful words pertaining to each level.

I am extremely grateful to my teachers during my stay in LTL Shanghai: Winnie and Ray. They were patient and interactive when it came to the lessons, accommodating my questions regarding the language itself and life in Shanghai. I would like to express my appreciation especially to Winnie for teaching me the language with as minimal confusion as possible and being so welcoming and helpful when I had minor issues and inquiries about Shanghai (ex. delivery, finding a local church, good places to find things I needed, etc.). I learned well with how organized the teachers taught the lessons. Alex and Mojca were also of great help when I was adjusting to the new city and when I wanted to move to a new apartment.

I highly recommend LTL Shanghai for anyone who wants to learn Mandarin and is intimidated to learn it in a new city!

The program was tailored for me. I was available during the new year’s holiday, the school understood my request and found the perfect teacher for me. They were careful since the moment I step out of the airplane. I was having the intensive individual’s class.

Despite the long hours the class was always interesting. I really recommend LTL Beihai. I hope I can come back soon. Also I found Beihai the perfect place to come. The winter is not so cold. The sky is clear and beautiful. The people in Beihai are so nice and welcoming. The food is amazing. The city is easy to walk and go around.

I did LTL in Chengdu for a month doing 2 hour private lessons every weekday, and it was such an amazing experience! My teacher (Panpan) was one of the best 老师s I have ever had. I can be quite a slow learner at times with languages, and Panpan was incredibly patient and adapted her teaching style to my needs. I saw my language skills improve immediately. She was also very helpful in helping me become more comfortable living in China! She gave me recommendations on places to visit, where to eat, and helped me with some of the nuances of living in Chengdu I didn't initially realize. I can't recommend her enough. The entire staff at LTL was wonderful, and I loved the outside activities scheduled. The whole process of applying was easy, and the staff gave step-by-step instructions on how to safely arrive in China. I highly recommend.
