My LTL Taipei experience

My experience at LTL Taipei has been incredibly positive. The teachers and staff are patient, engaging, and very good at explaining Chinese in a clear and understandable way; especially my teacher, Alice, and the school manager, Riona. Classes are interactive and tailored to one's level, which helped me improve my speaking confidence quickly. The school environment is also friendly and welcoming. Studying Mandarin here has been both challenging and fun, and I’ve made noticeable progress in a short amount of time. I would definitely recommend LTL Taipei to anyone serious about improving their Chinese.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
If you’re considering studying at LTL Taipei my biggest advice is to fully commit to speaking Chinese every day. It can feel uncomfortable at first, but the more you push yourself outside your comfort zone, the faster you’ll improve. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. Also, take advantage of being in Taipei. Practice Mandarin when ordering food, asking for directions, or chatting with locals. Explore night markets, cafes, and different neighborhoods to immerse yourself in the culture. Also, stay consistent with review and homework. The program moves quickly, so regular practice makes a huge difference. If you stay open-minded, curious, and proactive, you’ll get so much more out of the experience.
Pros
  • Rapid language improvement
  • Full cultural immersion
  • Supportive community
Cons
  • Fast pace learning
  • Cost of living
  • Language fatigue

I can't wait to come back!

I came to LTL Taipei with a few very specific goals. For one, I wanted to finally commit to learning Mandarin seriously rather than treating it as a casual hobby. What I found at LTL was far more than a language school. It was an immersive, deeply human experience that made daily progress feel both achievable and genuinely enjoyable.

The quality of instruction was exceptional. My teachers were skilled not only in explaining grammar and vocabulary, but in adjusting lessons moment by moment to match how I actually learn. Classes never felt scripted. Instead, conversations grew naturally out of real life in Taipei, whether discussing food at night markets, navigating the MRT, or preparing stories to share in class. I was consistently pushed just beyond my comfort zone in exactly the right way.

Equally impressive was the support staff. From arrival logistics to housing coordination and everyday questions about life in Taiwan, the team made the transition effortless. Living with a host family turned out to be one of the highlights of the program. Sharing nightly dinners provided cultural immersion no classroom could replicate.

The social environment strikes a perfect balance. There are organized activities if you want them, but also plenty of freedom to explore independently. I quickly formed friendships with classmates from around the world, including one friend with whom I even commemorated our experience by getting tattoos together in Taipei. That probably says everything about how meaningful this experience became.

Taipei itself is an ideal learning environment: safe, welcoming, endlessly interesting, and incredibly food-focused. Every trip outside felt like an extension of class.

If you are serious about learning Chinese at any stage of life, whether student, professional, or retiree, LTL provides structure, encouragement, and community in equal measure. I arrived hoping to improve my Mandarin. I left feeling connected to a place, a language, and a group of people I fully intend to see again.

I absolutely recommend LTL and already plan to return.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
I found Taipei to be a constant surprise. Nearly everywhere you go you will find older buildings mixed in with shiny new establishments, small but elaborate temples next to modern banks and stores. If I stayed for a decade I'd probably never find every hidden gem.
Pros
  • Small group and 1x1 classes provided a perfect balance of intense speaking/listening with relaxed exploration of the language.
  • Homestay allowed for a variety of different kinds of interactions.
  • Everyone involved in the program was super nice and supportive.

My 4 Week Mandarin Language Course with LTL Beijing

I spent four weeks studying Mandarin at LTL Beijing, and it was honestly one of the most memorable experiences of my life.

From the start, the school felt welcoming and supportive. My teacher, Sara, was exceptional — patient, encouraging, and genuinely invested in my progress. She pushed me to improve while making every lesson enjoyable, and I could feel my confidence in speaking grow week by week.

What made the experience even more special were the school activities. Chinese-style karaoke nights, hotpot dinners, cultural tours, and group sightseeing created such a strong sense of community. I met so many wonderful people through these activities. The school also helped organise a day trip to the Great Wall — visiting in winter while snow was falling was absolutely magical and something I’ll never forget.

Choosing the homestay option was the best decision I could have made. My host family welcomed me so warmly and made me feel at home. They were always introducing me to new foods and recommending places to explore in the afternoons. They also spoke Chinese with me whenever possible, which helped me adjust to the sounds and rhythm of the language much faster. Being immersed in Chinese language outside of class made a huge difference in my progress.

If you are serious about learning Mandarin and truly immersing yourself in Chinese life, I cannot recommend LTL Beijing enough.

LTL CHENGDU SCHOOL

Hello everyone. I want to tell you about my learning experience at LTL language school Chengdu. I studied there in February 2026, and my ABSOLUTELY COOL AND WONDERFUL teacher was Pan Pan. I am very grateful to her for her patience and the most friendly approach to my training. It was really cool for me to study with her. She taught me very carefully and patiently. She corrected my mistakes (and I had a lot of them) and showed as much care and attention as a teacher can teach his student. She advised me on some really cool places to visit, where to go for lunch and what dishes to eat (it was really delicious), she also told me various cultural subtleties and peculiarities, I was very pleased to learn from her. Everyone who is going to learn Chinese in Chengdu, choose this school you will definitely not regret, all the school staff are very friendly and friendly, in general, the atmosphere is as comfortable and friendly as possible, as if you came to visit old friends. Respect to all of you guys)))) Pan Pan, you are a really cool teacher and a very very nice person. 谢谢 老师

My great experience in CHENGDU LTL

I had a great experience at CHENGDU LTL during my 6-month stay. I gained many new experiences and met wonderful people, like my teacher Fang Ying. Her teaching style is very easy to understand, and she did her best to teach me Chinese, even though my English wasn't the best. She did everything possible to help me learn, and I did. Honestly, these experiences were some of the best. I thank my teacher for everything she taught me and everything she did for me, both as a student and as a friend. Thank you!

great experience

the course was amazing, everyone at the school super professional and incredibly kind and helpful, I'd like to express special thanks to my laoshi, Anna and Lisa, who made my stay in Shanghai feel like home, their instruction was always clear and well presented, they were patient and took neccessary things slow while still teaching us a whole lot. the only issue I had was not with the school, but my appartment was a little cold, due to the fact most appartnent buildings were built without proper insulation, so heads up for that, but we solved the issue in no time with the owner of the appartment who gave me an extra heater for my room.

Good experience so far!

I'm currently doing group classes and one on one classes and have been really enjoying it so far. It’s been a very good environment for me to learn, especially seeing people from various kinds of backgrounds with a passion for learning Chinese has been really motivating for me.

My teachers have been better than what I expected! I have Jamie for my one on one and group classes and she has really helped me fast track with learning mandarin both learning formally and speaking colloquially. She’s very patient and accommodating to making sure I excel in weak areas, she’s fun when teaching yet serious with making sure I do my best.

I also have Winnie for my group classes and her teaching style has been very helpful! I like the way she wants all of us to do our best, goes into detail and explains the logic behind what we learn so we can better remember what we learn.

Classes have been really enjoyable as both teachers are very fun and easy going!

Overall, my experience at LTL has been really good, and am looking forward to coming back again in the future!!

Learning Chinese with Teacher Summer at LTL Beijing

I spent three months studying Chinese in Beijing at LTL, and overall it was a really positive experience for me.

Being in Beijing helped my Chinese improve much faster than I expected. Using the language every day, both in class and in daily life, made a big difference in my listening and speaking.

Besides the language itself, I also learned a lot about Chinese culture, history, beliefs, and everyday life. The classes focused more on practical communication, which made learning feel natural and useful.

In just three months, my Chinese improved from beginner level to almost HSK 3. I was honestly surprised by how quickly things started to click.

Studying in Beijing turned out to be a great environment for learning Chinese, and I’m glad I chose to do it this way.
