Silk Mandarin Experience

Before finding Silk Mandarin, my learning lacked structure, and I never knew what to study next. I decided to look online for good Chinese schools based in China, which is how I found them on Google.
Since joining, my Chinese has improved a lot! Their learning materials for both listening and writing are great. The lessons are perfectly paced and easy for anyone to follow. What surprised me most was their Slow Motion Technique, I really like it, and it has made a massive difference in my journey. On top of that, the staff are all incredibly kind, amazing at their jobs, and truly know what they are doing. Highly recommended!

Exactly what I was searching for

I just completed my HSK 3 Intensive 20 Mandarin course here and highly recommend it. I appreciated how the course is structured—the offline preparation perfectly supports and builds up to the in-class activities. Learning in a group is also lots of fun as you find like minded students interested in improving their mandarin. The online platform is intuitive and user-friendly. A huge thank you to my amazing teacher, Jane, whose guidance made the intermediate material engaging and clear. Liked the course so much I decided to enroll my daughter for the in person camp during the summer.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
Always hesitant to speak in Mandarin but found the confidence to do so more , during the course.
Pros
  • All the support you need to progress
Cons
  • Be prepared to do the homework if you really want to be prepared for the next day's class , and want to progress!

Private Chinese class for children

Sent my kid to this school to expose him to learning some mandarin and Chinese culture. We signed up for 3 dys private session. Books were included in the program. They use technology quite a fair bit so kids are quite hooked. Wanted to join the camp but only available in mid June so we didn’t get a chance to join. Overall good feedback on the teacher from my kid, he also had fun and want to join again. We didn’t go for any housing options. Location is prime and close to where we stay in jing an. Would love to join the camp next time so he could interact with other children

Highly Recommend

I started learning Mandarin with no previous experience, and joining Silk Mandarin has been one of the best decisions I’ve made.
The 1:1 online lessons are engaging, well structured, and tailored to my learning pace.

What I appreciate most about Silk Mandarin is the combination of high-quality teaching and flexibility. The course fits easily into my schedule, and I’ve been very happy with the progress I’ve made so far. I would definitely recommend Silk Mandarin to anyone interested in learning Chinese.

Great experience

I’ve signed up for the 1:1 classes that are done online and it’s been absolutely amazing.
I had zero prior experience in Mandarin and I have to say I’m impressed with the results but also with the process.
I have access to an online platform to prepare for my classes and do some work to revise what I’ve previously learned. That helps me get the most out of my 1:1 time with my teacher. She’s great at focusing with me on the areas where I need extra help but also provides amazing insights into Chinese daily life and culture. I really couldn’t ask for a better course, especially because Silk Mandarin is flexible enough to work around my schedule. I couldn’t recommend them more.

I’m finishing HSK1 with Silk Mandarin...

I’m finishing HSK1 with Silk Mandarin and I will continue with HSK2.
The classes are well-structured, effective, and above all very engaging. The teachers are patient, encouraging, and truly know how to adapt to each student’s pace while maintaining high standards and real progress.
The atmosphere is both professional and welcoming, which makes you want to study consistently without unnecessary pressure.
An excellent school for learning Chinese seriously while still enjoying the process.
Don’t hesitate!

Silk Mandarin Recommendation

I've been using Silk Mandarin for a few months now, and it has improved my Mandarin very efficiently. I was self-learning for a couple of years off and on, and it felt like language learning was taking forever. When I started my classes with Teacher YanQin, she helped me in areas I struggled with, such as Pronunciation, and I noticed I improved very quickly. If you're serious about learning Mandarin, Silk Mandarin is the program I would recommend. I am almost 25, and I wish I had started this program much younger!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
If you're serious about learning Mandarin, start this program as soon as possible!
Pros
  • Convenient
  • Interactive

Loved learning

I really enjoyed the course I did, HSK1 and 2 which helped me understand Chinese better as well as have basic conversation sentences with my colleagues. I would really recommend this to others. My instructor/teacher was very patient and helpful. She made it fun and was understanding where I was struggling with tones or pronunciation. The twice a week course made it challenging for my busy schedule to find time to study, but their admin staff were very understanding to my schedule and still found a time slot for me even after my beginning class split into different times or levels.

What was your funniest moment?
All the times when I was to nervous to say the words or sentence I would write it out in pinyin and she would say yes but say it.
Pros
  • The blend of online and offline learning.
  • The admin was very willing to help work around my work schedule.
  • They had extra activities to help with culture immersion
Cons
  • Doing twice a week gave me limited time to study
  • There were no physical textbook provide for people who like to write notes

Supportive teachers, great materials, and flexible classes — both in Suzhou and online!

i can’t say enough good things about Silk Mandarin. The teachers are incredibly helpful, always taking the time to make sure you truly understand the material. They’re also so encouraging — even when I made mistakes, I felt supported and motivated to keep going.

The range of materials and resources provided is impressive, and everything is well-organized for effective learning. I especially loved the physical classes in Suzhou — the in-person experience was engaging and immersive. At the same time, the virtual classes are just as enjoyable and interactive, which makes balancing a busy schedule much easier.

Whether you’re learning in person or online, Silk Mandarin creates a positive, productive environment. I’m so glad I found this school!
