Silk Mandarin Chinese Summer Camp

We are very grateful to this Summer camp! This our daughter's second year attending and it was as smooth as the first time. All the teachers are extremely supportive and keen to support your child's learning. There's a good balance between classes and outings so that it doesn't feel like school. The teachers are accommodating and the management team will guide you through the process so nothing is overwhelming. The whole process is seamless, and everyone is happy to help!
If you are considering sending your child, please do! It will be an experience like no other : your child will get to experience Chinese culture, excel and grow their Chinese with peers their age. They will practice their Mandarin in a real-world setting, whilst being protected and encouraged by an amazing group of teachers.
If you are looking for a camp, Silk Mandarin is the way to go!

Our son attended the two-week summer camp and the two-week homestay, both in Shanghai, and had a fantastic time. The camp was very organized and the activities were excellent. I liked how the camp had the students do warm up exercises in the morning before class to get them going and to encourage physical activity. The staff kept us informed of the lesson progress and sent lots of pictures. We got a daily report of how he was doing in class. Also, our son got a bad cold one night and the Silk Mandarin staff took great care of him and took him to see a doctor very late at night. We are very thankful of how well they took care of him. His language skills definitely improved during the camp and he made few new friends. He did not want to come home! I highly recommend this camp.

I want to share our delight with the summer language school! Our son attended for four weeks in 2025 and 2026, and each time it was an unforgettable adventure.

The school has very professional and friendly teachers who find a unique approach to each child. The program is truly exceptional: regular field trips and introductions to Chinese culture allow the children to not only learn theory but also see how the Chinese language works in everyday life. The sightseeing tours and practical classes are stunning—they teach how to use Chinese in various situations, which is crucial for progress.

I'd also like to highlight the excellent organization of the school: the daily routine is designed to perfectly balance learning and entertainment, and the meals during classes were high-quality and delicious. Thanks to this approach, my son's level of knowledge has improved significantly. The team always maintained a healthy and positive atmosphere among the children, which made learning even more enjoyable and allowed my son to make new friends from different countries.

For us, this is the best language school in China. We will be returning again and again!

I also really appreciate that learning at Silk Mandarin is not only about learning vocabulary, grammar, or textbooks. My kids had many opportunities to learn about Chinese culture, traditions, food, daily life, and the way people communicate. I believe this cultural understanding makes learning a language much more meaningful and helps children become more interested in the language.
The teachers are friendly, patient, and encouraging. They create a positive learning environment where children feel comfortable making mistakes and trying to speak. I think this is especially important for language learning because confidence and the willingness to communicate are just as important as knowing vocabulary and grammar.

Excellent organization, always kind and helpful, fun and useful activities, and well-structured lessons! My children had a great time and learned a lot about Chinese culture and language; they made friends with their fellow campers and had no issues at all during the camp. I hope we can return next year, and I recommend it to any family interested in a fun and educational experience.

In the moning there is Chinese class with lnky 2 to 5 other students, in the afternoon you experience Chinese culture in doing Chinese puppet masks, lantern painting, cooking or Chibese sport such as kung fu or tai chi.
The focus lies on speaking for the beginners and on reading and writing for the mire advanced students. You can fast progress if you do your homework. I have only one main concern: there should be more study time with the Chinese teachers as well as more quite self-study time for reviewing.

What I enjoyed most about this program was the homestay element. I believe that it gave me insight into how Chinese people live on a day to day basis and it also gave me a very authentic environment to put my Chinese to the test. I also really liked how the hosts spoke Chinese the entire time, something I would have liked the staff/teachers to try to do a tiny bit more of. Overall, the lessons were very organized and the activities very structured, which was great! Overall, a fantastic first exposure to Chinese language and culture.
