Great camp

Some things you sign up for having no clue if it will be a good thing. This camp was one of those things our 15 year old signed up for and it turned out to be a great thing! Jack not only learned Chinese like never before, which was his goal, he also made some good friends and experienced a true Chinese culture immersion. Highly recommend to anyone whose child has an interest to advance their learning while having fun in the process. As a parent I can say I feel this program will be a foundation for son’s Chinese that he will never forget.

Great Experience!

My 9 yr old attended the two week language camp in Shanghai. All of the instructors and staff were very friendly and highly engaged. They had good teacher ratios and were very good about getting them to participate and keep speaking Chinese. The teachers found creative ways for them to practice, from role plays, to interviewing other students in the city, to even the final auction at the end. They had a blast on all of the field trips and activities. Definitely recommend. Very central part of the city making daily life very convenient as well.

An outstanding event

This camp was simply amazing. Every staff member went above and beyond to care for the students; caring for their dietary needs, staying up extremely late to help out any students that require it, and always being attentive to any concerns, or conflicts the students may have. Furthermore, this camp was a deeply nourishing experience educationally, as the camp teaches you a lot of material in a very short amount of time—from culture to language, from speech to history. The only cons I could possibly think of is the fact that the food in the cafeteria might be difficult to eat for some people, and that the schedule, along with the homework, can get quite overwhelming.

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
I had the beautiful opportunity to room with a wonderful girl from Costa Rica. During the trip, we created a close bond between us that still lasts today. In one of the nights, the girl did not want to eat food from the cafeteria, and so did I. So, she cracked a can full of bean paste, I opened a bag of lotus chips, and we ate the two together. It was definitely a strange taste, but what mattered was how nice the moment felt.
Pros
  • Educational
  • Caring staff
  • Clean, and nice dorms.
Cons
  • Overly-busy
  • Food can get boring.

Excellent Chinese School with Outstanding Teachers

I can highly recommend Silk Mandarin! I first heard about the school through a friend who had an excellent experience there, and I’m so glad I followed her recommendation.

The quality of the learning materials is outstanding — everything is well-structured, clear, and makes studying Chinese both effective and enjoyable. The teachers and staff are extremely professional, patient, and truly dedicated to helping each student progress.

From the very first contact, the communication and support have been excellent. The team is not only knowledgeable but also genuinely kind and welcoming, creating a positive and motivating learning environment.

Family summer camp

We just returned from an incredible two-week family camping trip in Shanghai with Silk Mandarin, and it exceeded all our expectations! From the moment we began planning our trip, the school was highly responsive and attentive to our requests, making the entire process seamless.

We had the luxury of not worrying about a thing, as Silk Mandarin expertly organized our daily itinerary. Our mornings were spent at the school, where we focused on learning grammar and expanding our vocabulary. After a delightful lunch featuring a variety of authentic Chinese dishes, we would embark on excursions to places like a chocolate factory or popular tourist attractions. These outings provided us with the perfect opportunity to practice our Chinese and immerse ourselves in the language and culture.

The experience was so enjoyable that our kids are already asking to return to China next year!

Additionally, we encountered an unexpected challenge during our trip when we were involved in a car accident. The school was incredibly proactive in supporting us during this stressful time. A teacher even came to the hospital late at night to assist us, which we truly appreciated.

We highly recommend Silk Mandarin and can’t wait for our next adventure in China!

Amazing experience

My son spent two weeks here studying Chinese, and the experience was fantastic!! The school, facilities, and staff are incredible. The school is located in a modern, clean, and well-maintained building.

Parents are always informed about what their kids do during the classes. They organize trips every week with the kids, which is fantastic and really good for them to improve their language. They make kids feel at home and happy. Beyond language skills, she’s also embracing the rich culture, making this a wonderful win-win for her personal growth and happiness. The program offers not only engaging Mandarin classes but also enriching field trips that provide real-life practice and cultural experiences.

I highly recommend the Silk Summer camp! Everything was perfect!

More than a Camp - Cultural and Language Adventure

This camp has been an incredible experience for my 14-year-old daughter! Over the past two years, she has formed deep, lifelong friendships with both teachers and fellow campers. These meaningful connections have created a joyful and motivating environment for her to learn Chinese—it’s truly inspiring to see her enthusiasm grow.

Beyond language skills, she’s also embracing the rich culture, making this a wonderful win-win for her personal growth and happiness. The program offers not only engaging Mandarin classes but also enriching field trips that provide real-life practice and cultural experiences.

We especially appreciate how much the teachers care for the children. Parents receive daily updates with photos and videos, which keeps us connected to her journey.

We’re so grateful for this amazing opportunity—thank you!
