I’ve been studying at Silk Mandarin for over 6 months now, currently taking the HSK 4 course with my teacher, Sisi.
Before joining Silk Mandarin, my Mandarin learning felt quite unstructured. I had reached around an HSK 3 level, but I wasn’t making consistent progress anymore. I think the main issue was the lack of a clear system and progression in my previous learning approach, which made it harder to build on what I already knew.
I initially chose Silk Mandarin after reading reviews online, and it turned out to be a good decision. The lessons are well-structured and paced according to my level, which has helped me regain a sense of direction in my learning. I now feel like I’m making steady and sustainable progress again.
Sisi has been very supportive and patient as a teacher. The classes focus on all key areas: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The content is practical and relevant. I appreciate that the lessons are interactive rather than just textbook-based.
One thing that stood out to me is how the review sessions are conducted. For example, we revisit new vocabulary by describing words and trying to guess them, which makes the process more engaging and helps reinforce memory. I also find the essay homework useful; for e.g. being asked to write short paragraphs using new vocabulary really helps consolidate what I’ve learned.
Overall, I’ve been enjoying the learning experience and feel more confident continuing my Mandarin journey. I plan to keep taking lessons and work towards my language goals.
