I set up my own consultancy business!

The best consulting internships are right here. Thank you Go Abroad China for all your help before I left. They arranged transport, accommodation and helped me with my visa, and please be very careful with the visa, i were contacted with another of internship program provider but they offered me the visa with low response and illegal visa cant do internship. It really helped to know that everything was in place before I left home.

I did 12 months at a marketing consultant internship at KPMG. The networking organized by Go abroad China opportunities were phenomenal. In this line of work, it’s crucial to have contacts and I made international contacts I could use even after I left China. I have now set up my own management consultancy business in UK, I gained valuable experience problem-solving at a senior level and I’ve taken this with me and used it. What better way to learn than actually doing? So, go for it. Try a consulting internship for yourself.

Real Estate

My Mandarin tutor was really supportive of me!
Looking online, I spotted a number of openings for real estate internships with Go Abroad China, so I called them. They told me about an opening in Qingdao and I went for it. It looked like an area of work that would appeal to me, plus, bonus, I wanted to travel and experience another culture.
So I got it. My first few weeks were a major blur of learning about government restrictions and local laws. But it got a lot easier down the line. I got help learning the language at Go Abroad China, which was a life-saver. My tutor and the other students were really great and helped my confidence. Once I had learned the ropes, my real estate internship job went from okay to awesome. I met loads of interesting, diverse people. I'll keep in touch with many of them and some of them could help me professionally. The Qingdao Pier and the pavilion, the Huilange Pavilion, are an amazing sight to behold, especially when all lit up. I really love living here in Qingdao.

Architecture

I worked alongside a senior architect!
Architecture is my passion. I was determined to experience an architecture internship abroad to gain experience in an international company.

I was delighted to discover that Go Abroad China could help me with an architecture internship in China. Speaking to me on the phone, an adviser informed me of my various options and answered my questions. She told me how to apply for an architecture internship at a company in Wuchan Zhongda Group. It wasn’t long before I was back on the phone to them asking them to help me arrange my flights and accommodation.
During my internship, I was able to witness a senior architect at work developing the construction details of a major project, checking for code compliance and coordinating with consultants and contractors. This is exactly the kind of work I am interested in. Since I can add this experience to my resume, I am one step closer to securing the job of my dreams. My internship led to a paid architecture internship and I was able to visit Xi’an and see the Emperor Qin’s Mausoleum and his Terracotta Army. Fabulous experience.

Advertising & Events

Go Abroad China took care of everything for me!
When I was offered the advertising internship in Shanghai, I was hesitant. Where would I live? Would my rudimentary Mandarin be enough to get me by? Would I make friends easily enough? I had no need to worry. Go Abroad China took care of everything. My actual job role was working behind the scenes to plan and prepare advertising and promotional material to increase sales. It was, by far, the best advertising internship for me. I attended workshops so I could improve my spoken, written and listening language skills and I found the other workshop attendees were just like me! We helped each other out. The social life was great. As well as quickly making friends at work, I ventured out on the Go Abroad China organized events and they were great fun.

IT, Software & Web Internships

My IT internship enabled me to explore Beijing and sample the local cuisine!
Internet usage is unprecedented and with global companies outsourcing IT to China, I see a realm of possibilities for career prospects. My area of expertise lies in web development and software engineering. GAC informed me of an IT internship at a company based in Beijing and since I’ve always wanted to see The Forbidden City and The Great Wall of China, I jumped at the chance. My internship as a web designer involved working with a highly skilled mix of people involved in improving UX design. The best bit of the program for me was the dinner get-togethers GAC told me about. This is where the GAC interns met up over dinner. I was nervous about trying some dishes so this was a great way for me to venture out of my comfort zone in the comfort of like-minded individuals.

International Trade

Networking events were essential for me; the program didn’t disappoint!
Go Abroad China arranged for me to work at an international trade company in Shanghai where I could develop my focus on the export of Chinese manufactured goods and the associated regulations. Networking opportunities were crucial for me as my aim was to make contacts that would enable me to develop a career in this area. At the same time as fulfilling the duties required with my international trade administration internship, I was able to attend Mandarin classes at Go Abroad China and attend social events organized by GAC. I came away from my internship with an in-depth knowledge of international trade and sales, connections with potentially influential individuals, and a greatly enhanced CV, which places me exactly where I need to be for the next step in my career.

Graphic, Interior& Fashion Design

I had plenty of time to explore the beautiful city of Hangzhou!

I had a strong desire to work in China to enhance my future job prospects, but it was important to me that I could experience the beauty and nature of the country as well as its vibrant cities. I spoke to a representative at Go Abroad China and they suggested Hangzhou, a city renowned for its enchanting scenery and rich cultural heritage. I was told that Hangzhou is one of China’s most popular travel destinations and I soon learned why. West Lake is a breathtakingly beautiful spot with willow-lined banks, mist-covered hills, pavilions, arched bridges and a little island that you can only reach by boat. During my Fashion design Internship, I have loved exploring the temples, shrines, and pagodas, and sampling the delicious Zhejiang cuisine. My particular favorite is the tender West Lake fish served in the vinegar-based Sweet Sour Sauce. Delicious!

Legal&Law

I gained experience in the areas of law in which I want to practice!

I applied for a legal internship with Go Abroad China last year because I'd decided to focus on Chinese law, specifically in relation to foreign direct investment and contract law. GAC found the right firm for me. The company specialized in international law and trade law which was a perfect chance for me to get involved in the areas of Chinese law I'm interested in. It was great being an intern there and I gained experience in commercial law and how contracts differ from country to country. I also got a realistic look at case management, legal research and even financial regulations. The entire experience was an eye-opener and I have come away with a well-rounded, global resume that I can present with a strong sense of pride.

Thank you, Go Abroad China, for showing me all that I can look forward to, professionally and personally.

Marketing & Sales

I contributed to the company’s social media campaign!
I worked as a Sales and Marketing Internship in Beijing. I was a key member of the marketing team alongside other sales interns and staff members from other countries around the world, which was fantastic. Coming from such different backgrounds, we had loads of different ideas and perspectives. Social media is my specialty and I contributed to an upcoming promotion by writing fresh content to appeal to the company’s target audience. My favorite part of my sales marketing internship was when I mentored with a Marketing Consultant. I saw first-hand how she led her team to nurture and progress new and existing sales opportunities. Also, what I Loved about Go Abroad China is that I still had enough time to travel around Beijing and explore the sights.

Consultanting

I became fluent in business Mandarin during my internship at a Beijing management consultancy firm!

Looking for the best consulting internships abroad, I approached Go Abroad China for advice. They matched me with a consulting internship at a company in Beijing that specialized in Management Consultancy. I learned about the specific methods the consultants use to understand their clients' businesses and trends so they can recommend solutions to often complex issues. I opted for one-on-one personal tutoring to improve my Mandarin as it was important to me to be fluent and understand the complexities of the language very quickly. My tutor was excellent and I was able to contribute to my team and get the very best experience from my international consulting internship at China Vanke.
