Lovely time in Seoul!

My time at Beyond Academy has been one of the best I've had so far! I was in Seoul for a little over two months and it was great! The people from Beyond were so nice and it felt like they were there for us 24/7. We also did things together besides the events and in my case I was able to make some great new friends!

My internship was a huge success and I was able to make a huge leap forward in my career. I did an internship as a fashion designer and made some lovely new contacts that will be really helpful in the future. In addition to the internship, it was also possible for me to visit my old internship place in Paris at a trade fair! I can only recommend Beyond Academy to anyone who is open to something new and wants to pursue a career abroad because it really is a huge springboard!

What was your funniest moment?
The time I had with the Beyond Academy stuff and the people I got to know there.
(cr. Ji Won & Seona they where literally the best, loved the time thank you!)
Pros
  • Self growth
  • work contacts
  • Best time you ever have

Great time!

I’ve been staying in Sydney for 10 weeks and it has been the best 10 weeks in my life. I’ve learned so much and meet so many great people! Sydney is an amazing city and the diverse culture is so unique and special. I am gonna miss this city and the people that I’ve meet. The experience that I’ve received is something that is going to help me forever. Because of the fun events beyond academy always planned, I’ve never felt alone and had something to laugh ever week. I am so happy I did this internship and I would do it over and over again.

What was your funniest moment?
We’ve been to a karaoke bar with beyond academy and we’ve had so much fun. We’ve not been the best singers but we’ve had the best laugh!
Pros
  • The planned events
  • The Organisation of your internship
  • The people you get to meet
Cons
  • We did not get paid for the internship
  • Sydney is a expensive city

Unforgettable experience

A lot of social events! Got to do a lot around Sydney! Although the host company was small, it was directly related to my industry choice.

I signed up late, but my admissions tutor was supportive and helped me match a company before the start date! They communicated with me throughout the whole process and did their best to match me with a desired company. The support team in Sydney was amazing throughout the two-month experience! I would recommend this program to anyone considering an internship abroad!

6 month internship

My journey allowed me to gain professional experience in a city as robust and diverse as London, which was a great learning experience getting to meet so many different people as well as work with them on projects and developing strategies to help improve the operational side of the business. Initially I kept to myself as I was relatively new to the company and was finding my feet in terms of the workload and the working environment however after a while I settled in and formed good work relationships with my peers as well as being able to lead a team of interns towards the end of the 6 month period

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
I was able to get promoted and lead a team on a new project alongside my operations manager
Pros
  • Improved leadership skills
  • Implement my own ideas more
  • Allowed me to be creative
Cons
  • More responsibilities and tasks to do
  • Must be willing to ask for support
  • Must be adaptable as routines may change

Go to Tokyo

I absolutely loved my experience not only when it comes to destination but also the friendships you make along the way. I will admit that my internship was tough especially due to the fact that it was a tradition Asian work space but because I had a support group to hang out with and try new things with every week, my time in Tokyo felt so short and full. I definitely recommend Beyond Academy to any students or any free spirits who want to get out of their comfort zone. I will forever cherish the memories I have made with such amazing people.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
I usually have a hard time when introducing and meeting others but I definitely recommend you to go out there and just do it. Many are on the same boat and are also nervous so just go all out.
Pros
  • Connections
  • Friendships
  • Experience
Cons
  • Busy city life
  • Shared house
  • Japan summer

Eve’s Review

I absolutely loved my experience with Beyond Academy. I always felt 100% supported and safe in a country I’ve never been too. My internship experience was so valuable to my career development and I was able to meet so many amazing people I will know my entire life. This experience is so beneficial in so many ways and I would do it all over again if I could! Amsterdam was also one of the most perfect locations any student could choose. It is such a big city that has everything one would need. I would do anything to go back!

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
The museums and architecture in Amsterdam were fascinating and I absolutely loved being a part of the culture
Pros
  • Support and Guidance
  • Traveling around Europe
  • friends and fun
Cons
  • 9-5 job
  • not long enough!
  • home sickness

Tokyo Internship Review

If you’re scared of traveling alone or just wanting to get some working experience under your belt I’d recommend this program to you. I personally came not expecting much but I left with not only a new perspective in life but new lifelong friends and some good experience to add to the resume. If you’re second guessing it, just go for it, the coordinators here are super supportive, the other interns are super friendly, plus you get to explore a whole new country with a group instead of doing it alone

What was your funniest moment?
Renting out an a house with friends and staying up all night singing karaoke
Pros
  • Coordinators are really supportive
  • Communication is really good
  • Lots of events and chances to experience Japan
Cons
  • Weather in Japan isn’t the best

Would Recommend!

I had an excellent time on this program, I learn loads and found the Beyond Academy company brilliant at organizing events and give tips for traveling around Tokyo! They were excellent at advice on the Japanese lifestyle and any info you were interested in!

The coordinators were great at helping me navigate anything I found difficult and helpful with optimizing my experience in Japan! Marc and Ceci were particularly good at travel and food tips! I met some amazing people along the way and overall would recommend!!

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
If I was to do this again, I would plan the activities I would like to do a bit better to make sure I have time to fit everything in!!
Pros
  • Social-life
  • Tourism
  • Resume Building
Cons
  • Easy to get lost in Tokyo

Beyond

I had a splendid time doing beyond academy. The people you meet and all the fun things you get to do make the whole thing worth it. As for the job it depends on the company and the job you go for. Some people worked all the time, and others barely worked at all. Either way the people, the experiences and all the exploration outside of the job are elite and worth it. If you are thinking about doing it I’d say definitely give it a shot and go out and explore, work, and have fun. Shoutout Beyonf Academy

Don’t miss this opportunity !

Beyond Academy internships are not only an incredible opportunity to explore a new country and culture, but also provide the opportunity to grow in your career and strengthen your assets! Moving abroad for 6 months or even 6 weeks can be an intimidating idea, but the staff at Beyond Academy makes it as smooth as possible and ensures support, community and cultural activities. I couldn’t imagine finding the internship on my own, and I’m sure I wouldn’t have been able (or comfortable) to do the activities without a group to go with and facilitate it. Having weekly options of events ensured I made the most out of my time and I’m so thankful to have had such a wonderful staff on site to support me!

What was your funniest moment?
I’m not sure if it was the most funny event, but the first one that came to mind happened on the Beyond Academy Fuji trip!
A group of us split off during a break to explore an outdoor mall, and we noticed a police guard on duty. Apparently a dog had gone potty on the side walk and the police officer was guarding the spot to ensure no one would step in it. The image of the guard attentively crouched and warning every passing person was so funny, all of us were dying laughing.
